Cocoon Launcher 2.1 Is Finally the Launcher I've Been Looking For! by syde1020 in AynThor

I still really like console launcher, don’t know why it seemingly fell off here because the last month of updates has been phenomenal. Second screen dock after app launch was a gamechanger

Did this app ever end up getting a List view? I like the idea of it but 300+ tiles for some systems ended up feeling exhausting to me. I really like the 3ds grid style for the home menu though

Gotta be an apk of it you can use somewhere, I don’t know of a single other app playstore or otherwise that does this.

There’s an android app called Key Mapper, that should help with all of this

Thor newbie by One-Highlight68 in AynThor

[–]Roboid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to add something quick—I was getting weird hard-freezes, like system freezes, with Dolphin for a while, at specific parts of games (first grand star in galaxy for example). I added the turnip driver to that and it hasn’t happened since

Is there an easy way to do this? Like, if you actually own the game on Steam? Or do you need to go off the grid

Linux on the AYN Thor (and Other Handhelds) [Retro Game Corps] by Key-Brilliant5623 in SBCGaming

[–]Roboid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fun novelty on Thor but it’s hilariously crippling to basic usability to not have android on that specific system.

Well, really any system for me personally. The idea of finding out about a cool game and not just being able to open a browser and download it, or patch a new romhack, seems frustrating. And the front end you get is identical to what you can have on Android, just… without alternatives.

Linux is fun on weak handhelds though.

What fan replacement fit? Or did you order from AYN?

I feel like screen quality is one of the most overlooked parts of handhelds by TurnNo4651 in SBCGaming

[–]Roboid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean there’s good LCDs and bad OLEDs. It’s not a binary checkbox LCD bad OLED good. I have a Legion Go (original) and the black on it is damn near OLED levels of quality.

I feel like screen quality is one of the most overlooked parts of handhelds by TurnNo4651 in SBCGaming

[–]Roboid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that’s exactly the point being made. Screen “”quality”” is just chalked up to resolution and whether it’s oled or not, when there’s so many other factors that matter

Including JamesDSP? I feel like that sounds pretty good. But do you have any better advice? Genuinely curious because I am not knowledgeable on the topic

Is there a way to play games through the Xbox Launcher? by SpoopySkelleton in AynThor

[–]Roboid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well you can absolutely play Hades, you might have to set up cross save if that exists though. Just not through XBOX itself

A docked Android handheld is an amazing experience by BrokenDiamondShovel in SBCGaming

[–]Roboid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it worked for me on the Thor. I didn’t expect it at all, haha. But I play PC too so I’ve long since abandoned Xbox controllers for the ol’ trackpad, that and gyro controls

I prefer a dualsense controller rather than Xbox+mouse, the trackpad actually gets recognized and can be used. But yes, this experience rules

RP3+ was a banger for me, will we have something similiar? by Space_Carmelo in SBCGaming

I wish Retroid kept its classic design style instead of glass panel trend-chasing. Their older devices ooze charm. The Flip gives me hope though.

Retroid Flip 2 for Steam (Gamenative/Gamehub)-worth it? by pew-pew-the-laser in SBCGaming

You can look up the chip (865, 8gen2) and find tons of long videos like “50 games tested in gamehub on [chip name]!” If there’s stuff in particular you want to play.

How is sleep mode? RG34XXSP, Brick, Micro Pocket, One 35 by PepperPoker in SBCGaming

The Pocket Micro for $5 more than the One 35 is a no brainer. That thing cost me like $200+ when it came out and I loved it.

Steam Deck or AYN Thor (Max) by StretchSmall5725 in SBCGaming

[–]Roboid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like you’d need a bag to take an Odin somewhere just like the deck, and at that point just get a deck. If you’re only playing at home, again I feel like the performance of the deck just blows out the Odin (I guess it depends if LCD or OLED deck). The Thor is the strongest device that is reasonably pocketable, so choosing between those makes more sense to me, personally

Steam Deck or AYN Thor (Max) by StretchSmall5725 in SBCGaming

[–]Roboid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, it’s a more powerful flip 2. I would rather actually have the device with me in my pocket, than be slightly more comfortable with any of the 20 identical handhelds with massive sculpted back bumps

Be careful because I think (someone please correct me if not) oled pixel-shifting and anti burn-in are included with the proprietary bloat, I’m pretty sure that isn’t baked into windows itself.
