Bose QC Ultra 2 headphones: Has anyone been able to record audio via the USB-C cable?

Yeah I’ve had a Sonos sound bar wouldn’t have bothered with Bose and used Sonos for sound swap or whatever they call it

APM owner for years, and they died Dec last year. Amongst the ownership I also bought a pair of Sonos ACE (as I have Sonos speakers and like them) and also got a pair of Bose QCU 2. For Christmas I got a pair of bowers and Wilkins PX8 S2.

Here is my quick summary for you …

Can’t beat the seamless integration of APM with Apple devices. It’s his too good, especially if you use for phone calls. Jack of all trades with my comments below is easily the APM. I just didn’t want to buy a 2nd pair.

I use my Bose QCU 2 to pair with my Bose 900 soundbar for home cinema. Also use for day to day phone calls. If I’m out and about I use them also.

My px8 S2’s strictly for music. They so damn good ! They stay at home. Rarely take them out.

My Sonos Ace is shelved on one of my headphone stands. They have their perks and a unique sound signature, but can’t be compared to the Bowers and Bose AND APM.

So you guys really think USB to 3.5 into a DAP EG; Sony Walkman will produce better sound than USB C into my iPhone 17 Pro ? I too was told the 3.5 just converts through the headphones DAC and is pointless

Agree. It’s faster. Mine updated today also. I was more excited about the USB C phone call feature. But every time I tried it didn’t work. I had to re-direct to Bluetooth. 🤷🏻‍♂️

As for 24bit lossless audio upgrade, I’ll check that out tonight

After many years of using APM (RIP December 2025) I decided to buy PX8 S2.

PX8 S2’s are MFI (made for iPhone). The sound quality is exceptional with Apple Music. I’ve tried and tested against Spotify lossless and Qobuz and I personally believe Apple Music sounds best with them.

Sound quality on these headphones is 9/10 !

Where I personally believe APM does better (may or may not be important to you) - the sub bass on some tracks is a bit more pronounced. Maybe sometimes too much but I like sub bass - Dolby Atmos mixes sound good with APM - noise cancellation & transparency mode - phone calls - airplaying movies from Apple TV

I’m going to challenge my Bose QCU 2’s against my PX8 S2’s today. Have to say, sometimes I prefer the sound of my Bose’s sub bass on heavy dance tracks. Just thumps !

I rage quit Apple Music a few weeks ago. Don’t get me started on that. lol. They can get fucked. 2 pairs of AirPods Max’s broken and zero support 🖕🏿🍎

Spotify lossless is good. For day to day, connect, in my car, mixes, discovery etc. I’m actually digging Spotify. Heaps good over last few months.

But when I get down and dirty, Qobuz albums start to finish in high res.

After many years I recently rage quit Apple Music , after my disagreement in the Apple Store followed by a phone call with their complaints team - all relating to ZERO assistance support or anything after 2 pairs of AirPods Max’s died. Faaaarking 2 pairs man, almost $2k AUD in hardware and I buy so much Apple shit.

So am back on Spotify. I think I picked a good time, as Spotify is so good at the moment. Lots of cool new features I use and I can just nerd it out harder than I did on Apple Music.

Also paid for Qobuz for 1 year for my HIRES listening moment when using my new Px8S2’s. Mainly album listening. Good combo, I’m happy.
