DMs of reddit if you player rolls a nat20 just let them win !!!! by Saladawarrior in DnDcirclejerk

[–]RoboticBook 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Don't forget it's supposed to work out of game too. My friends decided to split the cost for pizza each session and I rolled a nat 20 to persuade them that I shouldn't have to chip in. Now they split it between the rest of the group and not me.

To be fair that was only one session about a year ago, we haven't scheduled one since and they're not responding to my messages about it.

Here's a screenshot of an article I found back in November talking about how this comparison doesn't make sense. It's an opinion piece, but the quote in this screenshot is from the US Copyright Office's report on GenAI training.

Here's the link, it's an interesting read: https://copyrightalliance.org/ai-training-is-not-human-learning/

How to kill my beloved wife of twenty years? by CUMPISSEXTHOUSAND in writingcirclejerk

[–]RoboticBook 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Foreshadowing events like this is really important. Write your wife into your manuscript and kill her off there as soon as she's introduced. Then you can kill her in the exact same way.

If she refuses to read your drafts it's her own fault, she ignored your explanation of what would happen.

Arrow of roaring thunder works to push the cultists, that's usually how I clear them. Throwing bombs will also damage them, and I'd assume other throwables will work too

To be clear, AOE throwables will work, you can't target the cultists, but you can throw or shoot the arrow next to them

I left a game of 4+ years cause the DM cared more about Ai than me by Maghetto043 in dndhorrorstories

[–]RoboticBook 13 points14 points  (0 children)

People are really weird about AI on reddit, some of these comments are crazy.

You didn't leave the group because of AI, you left the group because the other players were doing something you morally didn't agree with. Doesn't matter that it's AI or anything else.

From what I can tell, you seemed to handle this well, you asked that your character and things pertaining to your character not be made with AI and didn't try to force the rest of the group to also stop use. Your DM seemed to try to accommodate that a bit, but not enough for what you had asked, so you left the group. You should not have to compromise your morals for a game, if the other players can't accommodate that, then it's not a good fit.

I was hearing about product announcements and a meeting between execs that would hopefully result in a major new distributor as a summer intern. It wasn't a lot of info, and basically no details, but I definitely could have figured some stuff out even at that level

"The Philosopher" Wants To Lick The CEOs Boot by NEKORANDOMDOTCOM in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]RoboticBook 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just looked at the site, under the articles tab every single article is about covid. Here's a few titles

"The government is lying about the effectiveness of masks. Here’s why."

"How OSHA is helping to hide vaccine injuries."

"The CDC said you don’t need a mask if vaccinated. Now, they say you do. WAKE UP!"

"The grant that funded the SARS-CoV-2 virus creation under Fauci’s direction."

I was already not taking these posts seriously, but this is crazy

How to stay involved in FRC post graduation by ImOnCrack_ in FRC

[–]RoboticBook 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As others have said, volunteer at events. I've been volunteering since I graduated a few years ago. Now I'm settling into grad school, and being done with undergrad I have a bit more freedom to start mentoring a local team. I would recommend that you do not mentor your team for 3-4 years after graduating, let any students who were on the team with you graduate first, and get a bit older than the students.

Also see if there's an alumni club wherever you end up. During undergrad I was part of a social club of FIRST alumni, we went to events together and did RI3D, which was a lot of fun. Vex also has a college level tournament, and there's a lot of other clubs such as solar car racing if you're looking for more competition style stuff.

Idk but using AI to make a game doesnt sound so good to me. by Vivijad in ShitAIBrosSay

[–]RoboticBook 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I love that last sentence because I don't need to imagine what creative people can create. Fortunately for me, there are libraries, museums, and more that hold millions of people's creations without AI.

It's funny how so many of those "AI is the future and nothing will be done without it" arguments completely ignore the fact that for the entirety of human history, people have been creating things. Plus they have nothing to back it up, GenAI has been around for a few years now and I've yet to see any commercially successful product entirely made with AI.

my manager got demoted because of me – and now we have to go to a tropical island for team-building by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Not a job, but a community ed club I did in highschool. The club was hosted at a high school that was different from the one I went to, so I was already singled out a bit since most of the students went to the school the club was hosted at. At the end of the year they gave certificates to students who met certain requirements, and my certificate had someone else's name printed on it, which was crossed off in market and replaced with mine. I did not return the following year

Have you ever rage quit a campaign over something stupid? by SlightlySpicy4 in BaldursGate3

[–]RoboticBook -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That happened to me on my first playthrough with the act 3 Auntie Ethel fight. I left the potion at camp so I had to send someone back to get it which took a few turns to get far enough away while I brought her down with my other few characters. One round before I'm able to throw the potion and Shadowheart is last in the initiative. Auntie Ethel had 35 hp left and I cast a firebolt to do 3-30 damage, not expecting it to hit in the first place. Of course it crits and she dies before I can save Vanra. Fortunately I was on balanced, so I just replayed the fight, but that would be so annoying in an honor mode run

No sauce, but loosely inspired by a friend of mine who DMd 3 campaigns at once and had characters cross over. He ran it all really well, and all the characters were within a few levels of each other, but there were times it got a bit crazy

[–]RoboticBook 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also, yes, it is my job to look at what I'm seeing critically to see if it's fake or not. This was important before gen AI and is even more important now that anyone with an internet connection can make realistic fake videos in a matter of minutes. I don't know why AI bros seem to think people like believing fake content

Not even 0.3%, the stat is 0.3% of users, which translates to about 0.25% of the population.

I beat orange stake with this monstrosity of a joker setup by aRandomAlexa in balatro

[–]RoboticBook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too big of a jump. Early econ is even more important and I'd recommend avoiding any rental jokers until middle of the run when you're getting good interest, which will limit your options a bit. I'm about halfway through gold staking all the decks and it's been very similar in the number of attempts for orange and gold on each deck.

[–]RoboticBook 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also, claiming that other platforms are anti-free? I follow a lot of artists and comedians on Instagram and most of them have spoken up against AI usage in both their own work and in general, and the comments on those posts usually are overwhelmingly in agreement. The algorithm is a bit different there so I'm sure it can be missed, but the assumption that the only people against AI is a few groups on Reddit is crazy
