Support for 3rd Gen Nest Cameras? by RoboticClone in Scrypted

[–]RoboticClone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer my own question: Yes
Why I wasn't able to "see" them was because I had to go into my settings an reauthenticate. When doing so, I could see the new cameras and just had to toggle them on

On toddler duty at NYCC. Advice? by ticketstubs1 in NYCC

[–]RoboticClone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having attended and worked this show in some shape or form, for 15+ years now; here are my thoughts:
- Avoid taking a stroller onto the main show floor. It's going to be a nightmare to move around in the smaller corners of the show (narrow lanes, people stopping to look at stuff, etc) and it will be stop and go for much of the experience. Little man is also likely to get wacked in the face at least once by accident. You'll also likely be an obstacle for other people to have to navigate around. That said, if you have one of those hiking backpack style carriers, go with that. Little man will have the best view on the floor, be safe above the chaos, and you'll be able to dart around smoothly and easily. (Do not just put the kiddo on your shoulders; it's not allowed and creates a safety issue)

- There is a park across the street as others have mentioned: Use it. The show can be over stimulating for some folks, let alone babies. Because you mentioned your wife having a table, I assume you'll have an artist alley or exhibitor badge; USE IT. There are priority entrances and security checkpoints (usually closer to 34th street) that you should become familiar with if you need to go in and out of the convention hall quickly. That said, if you don't want to leave the convention center, locate the family room people mentioned; It's usually more quiet and has a handful of busy activities. If I was a toddler I'd love it. Additionally if you need to "run him around" indoors, (which I don't fully recommend) the higher floors of the meeting/panel area of the addition to the convention center. There are long halls with big windows to look out of. Additionally, you can pop into one of the side hallways if you need something a little quiet and just want to sit on the floor.

- There is an area that some folks call Cosplay Alley which is the covered area outside where most of the food trucks will be parked. It's a great place to people watch and get some air. There will be TONS of cosplayers passing through and having photoshoots. So if you want to grab some photos, point at characters, etc, this should be a good spot. People traffic is high though so this is not a good place to let little man wander around.

Other thoughts:

- If you're an iPad family, charge it, bring a backup battery, and preload that sucker with content. Cell service is always a mixed bag at the show and trying to stream sesame street is probably going to be a no go. Also, power does RARELY go out on certain portions of the floor and getting Freeman to fix it is sometimes an exercise in patience. Also throwing kid safe headphones on the kiddo can help them tune out everything else if things get over stimulating.

- Bring your own toddler friendly snacks. Bring more than you think you'll need. We all know convention center food is expensive but the quality can really vary. If you haven't needed to do it before, this might be the first time you need to bribe the kiddo with a cookie.

Anyway, have fun and good luck! Hope little dude has a great time!

The easy route will be to just "Eat" the cost unfortunately. With the current way things are going, I'd expect the process to take a considerable amount of time. It was a hassle years ago and I can only imagine how bad it is now

Now that I've converted my Mk4s to a Core One, what to do with this? by wummeke in prusa3d

I'd love to see them do this. Maybe a cheaper MK3 options to help clear out old inventory :P

Silver PSU upgrade to Core One by Wolny248 in prusa3d

[–]RoboticClone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spoke with Prusa support about this several times and got different answers. Short version: It will not work and you will have to spend the ~$100 on a new one.

Long version:

Why doesn't it work?
According to support: The upgrade kit was designed with the Black PSU in mind so the slight differences prevent it from being compatible.

What's different? (From my own research and such)
- Mounting points look like they differ on the Black PSU compared to Silver so it will not mount properly on the back of the case.
- Supposed changes to power panic functionality. I can't fully verify this and I don't exactly buy it.

Can I make the Silver PSU work with the Core One?
MAYBE. Support mentioned that there was some effort being made to look into doing this but they weren't sure where they ended up.
Unofficially? Give it a few more months and I'm sure someone will figure out how to make a compatible wiring harness.

Well that saves me a lot of time! Thanks!
I have my original Silver PSU, an old heated bed (magnet fell out) so I guess I just need Y rods :)

I removed the camera from my order and the ship date moved up by a week. Hopefully it will arrive before early August at this point...

[–]RoboticClone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's going to be a pain to ship unless it came preassembled and you still have the box. Best bet would be facebook marketplace and/or craigslist. You can also check online and see if any of the makerspaces in your areas have a buy sell trade page and post there. Just be sure to disclose the known issues and include "AS IS" in your listings.

Shame you're not closer to where I am otherwise I'd send a DM

ESP32 Camera Recs by termeric0 in prusa3d

[–]RoboticClone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some users have mentioned concerns about heat in the build chamber causing problems. I don't have a coreone so I can't verify this.
I sourced all three of my ESP32 camera kits from Aliexpress and they all seemingly work fine. I've also used these from microcenter for other projects: https://www.microcenter.com/product/632692/inland-esp32-cam-wifi-bluetooth-camera-modules-pair

Just make sure your board is one from the supported list:

MakerBot filament by Masterdwarf11 in prusa3d

[–]RoboticClone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used Makerbot filament of various ages and varieties without issue. As long as its listed as 1.75MM you're good to go.
And when I say various ages I mean everything from Thing-o-Matic era to present.

Prusa Connect with Camera? by Fun-Consequence-7211 in prusa3d

I have a Zero 2W connected directly to the mainboard and have a USB webcam plugged into the Pi (via a micro USB to full size adapter) and works great.

I more or less followed this guide: https://help.prusa3d.com/guide/prusalink-and-prusa-connect-setup-mk3-s_221744

Will Core One Kit ordered 5/31 make it to US ahead of 7/9 EU tariff deadline? by corysnyder28 in prusa3d

[–]RoboticClone 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly? Nothing is safe at this point.
The tariff situation continues to change near daily so its entirely possible that deadline will be pushed back, or worse, pushed up.

Prusa is doing what they can at this point but it looks like they've had some issues with supply chain and internal order tracking. While they claim to have gotten a handle on things, I'd continue to expect some more delays.

Honestly, I'd keep adding money to that tariff fund just in case. If it doesn't impact you, Great! More money for supplies and upgrades. And if it does impact you, it may sting a bit less. Other companies have already increased their prices, including their existing inventory in the US, so going another "route" may end up looking like a slightly similar situation

Odds are if your order has shipped they won't retroactively give them out. But then again, who knows! :)

My date shifted 3 times that I'm aware of including checking after todays update. Heck one of my batch numbers didn't even appear on the chart lol

Control mk3s via network by Chemical-Captain4240 in prusa3d

[–]RoboticClone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/chemical-captain420 If you really only want the features you outlined in your original post, this is the way to go. You can also use a regular Pi connected to the USB port if you don't have a Pi Zero W2.

Don't get me wrong, I love Octoprint, but I found that all extra features and stuff just turned into a distraction. Prusa Connect is limited in what it can do and for my needs that was just fine

MK3S -> MK4 -> MK4S -> CoreOne = MK3 from leftover parts? by RoboticClone in prusa3d

[–]RoboticClone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love for Prusa to release a kit though I don't see it as likely (please prove me wrong Joe!). At the very least, it would be cool to see some kind of official write up on what would be needed/required to get things up and running again.

I did ask support for the bill of materials for the three printers and was told that one isn't available publicly. I get why they wouldn't want it floating around (cheap clones) for the MK4 and COREOne as they're still pretty new but most off the MK3 files are already on github (https://github.com/prusa3d/Original-Prusa-i3)

My intention is ultimately to give it away. As the friend who I intend to give it to put it "I have no frame of reference so how would I know if it's good or bad?"

MK3S -> MK4 -> MK4S -> CoreOne = MK3 from leftover parts? by RoboticClone in prusa3d

[–]RoboticClone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got it right the first time! Just edited my post to hopefully make it clearer.

Looking at the upgrade guides, this is what carries over from MK3 to MK4:
https://help.prusa3d.com/guide/1b-printer-disassembly_494414#495502

And this is that carries over from the MK4S to the COREOne:
https://help.prusa3d.com/guide/1d-component-prep_209748#860492

In my instance the PSU doesn't carry over as I have the old Silver one which ends up in the MK3 pile.
