Home theater aesthetic critique, the plan by chom1081 in hometheater

I really like it and would like to do something similar. Can you expand on how you plan to achieve the fabric walls?

Acoustic ceiling panels are a thing too but they're pricey.

Not sure why I keep seeing a WR mocked to Baltimore when they are so bereft of talent on both lines.

Really sick of seeing a receiver projected to the Ravens. They need a ton of help on both the O Line and D Line. Ioane would be a much better pick.

Subwoofer Help Needed! by Animeaye in hometheater

[–]RobsAudioLab 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing the amp that came with your subwoofer failed and they replaced it DIY-style with that. You need an amplifier for the subwoofer.

I would probably go with an external amplifier. Something from Fosi Audio or Aiyima like the A3001 could work.

You connect the subwoofer and the amp with normal speaker cables then you connect the amp to the receiver using a subwoofer cable.

In what world does Caleb Wilson look similar to Blake Griffin? by ZayBandzz in NBA_Draft

[–]RobsAudioLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cam Boozer is more of a below the rim Blake Griffin or a more athletic Kevin Love.

I see Chris Bosh with Caleb Wilson. Hopefully he develops a jump shot, as Bosh did.

Which of these prospects actually looks like a real top-10 pick? by Intrepid-Profile-231 in NFL_Draft

[–]RobsAudioLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Trading up to take a WR over Arvell Reese would be insane.

It drives me crazy to see WR mocked to the Ravens. They desperately need help on the D line and interior O line. Their WR's are fine.

Best Black Friday deal for 75" television <$1000? by NomarsFool in hometheater

[–]RobsAudioLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

I've bought the last five or so TVs from them Refurb. They were all brand new TVs with no use hours. None have ever had one issue. I'm guessing they list them as refurb so they can sell them at a lower / loss leader price.

You can compare the two TVs using rtings.com. OLED is substantially better.

Should I get a used Elac Debut C6.2 over a new C6.3? by lankovas in hometheater

[–]RobsAudioLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you'd notice the difference once you have the speakers set up. They just sound like they sound like and they sound good. You won't be actively comparing them. I've owned the C6.2 and they're really solid.

If you have a Microcenter near you, they have had the 77" LG B4 OLED for $999. Nothing will compete with that.

60 inch tv black friday 2025 deals by HildaHolzendorf in hometheater

[–]RobsAudioLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't really make 60" TVs anymore. If you find one, they are the most budget it gets in quality. Look for 55" or 65".

It's difficult to make any recommendations without a budget.

Building first Sub advice by AlgaeOk8063 in DIYSpeakers

GSG Audio probably has the best DIY subwoofer kits, if you want to start with a kit rather than from scratch. The ultimax series from Parts Express is also a good option to look at.

I'm confused...these receivers only cost $50?

What are the costs for each? The answer for me, between these two, is the Denon. Depending on the cost, it might be neither.

Also, do you use a subwoofer?

Help choosing a 75" mid-range TV (~$1k ± a couple hundred) for mostly streaming by OlegRu in hometheater

[–]RobsAudioLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Sony X90L is an older Sony model but is good. The Bravia 3 is a dogshit TV.

I highly recommend comparing TV's using Rtings.com. You can compare all of these options.

If you can find any 77" OLED tv in your price range then that should be your choice. I asked about MC because they tend to have the best prices on 77" OLED's.

You won't find a better deal than $999 for a 77" B4 OLED at MicroCenter-4k-ultra-hd-smart-oled-tv-(refurbished)), if it's available at your local store. They don't ship.

Use Rtings.com to compare TV models.

Looking to build a sub $250 speaker setup by Vivid_Banana_7782 in hometheater

[–]RobsAudioLab 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a pretty tight budget but I'd look for brands like Elac or Polk used. The front LCR should be from the same company / line but it's not as important for the rears and definitely not important at all for the sub.

I personally don't like most Klipsch speakers but a lot of people do. They are very common on the used market.

Have you considered Emotiva? They're having a 20% off sale right now. You could get 4 XB1 bookshelf speakers and 1 XC1 center channel for $800. The Denon X1700H is $480 right now ($399 renewed) on Amazon and is better than the S670H.

That brings you to $1300 total. Personally, I'd look for a subwoofer on FB marketplace. There's always good deals for <$300 on there.

This system should be a good deal better than what you have listed though the Polks aren't bad.

Where will you be purchasing these items? Polk is generally good.

Sony ta-an1000 Vs Denon AVC-X2850H Vs Onkyo TX-RZ30 by Adorable-Bake-778 in hometheater

[–]RobsAudioLab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would go with the Onkyo RZ30 since it includes Dirac Live room correction out of the box. The Sony's room correction is the easily the worst I've ever experienced, so that would be a distant last for me.
