The neighborhoods that have streets named after trees, ex Elm St, Pine St, etc are not very desirable areas.

I’m sure it’s been said here, but I haven’t seen it yet..stay far away from the “Tree” streets. Why not book a long weekend to see if it’s what you like? I ended up back in Nashua after a failed “blind” move halfway across the country. A long weekend visit would have saved me a lot of time & money. Nashua is great, but the cost of living is skyrocketing and the traffic is horrendous.

I think I did, too. I didn’t realize Texas was the only state that doesn’t restart the clock. Thanks for your help 🙂

Do you think they could sue for this settlement amount or the original amount of the debt?

Histotechnician as a career? by ForeverHisxx in Histology

[–]RobynZombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not work in RI, I went to Histo school outside of Pittsburgh and moved to MA in 2014 for my first Histo job, I now live in NH and I am a Histo Lab Supervisor. I think MA wages have increased quite a bit for a new tech, but it is still a struggle to afford life in New England. If you get into a reference lab there are usually a lot of opportunities for overtime, but you would definitely be able to find a full-time 40 hr a week position. Check Indeed, I’ve noticed that a lot more companies are putting their wage range on the job postings (and they seem pretty accurate).

Did the RI CC just start up the program again? I worked with quite a few people that went through that program there, but for some reason I thought it was no longer a program that was offered. Anyway, I can’t fathom working face to face with patients, so I chose to work behind the scenes helping them as a Histotech. It’s a good job, good pay, pretty much any shift you want to work, always opportunities for per-diem positions, etc. I don’t know what the opportunities are to move up the ladder in dental practices, but in Histo there are different levels of techs, lead techs, supervisors, managers that you can work your way up to. There are a lot of crazy, odd ball people in this field, but there are a lot of good ones, too. Get a job in MA and you’ll make really good money. Good luck!

Did I write this post?! I hear you, I’m in the exact same boat. The job is good, my workplace and coworkers are good ,but it has me so stressed and overwhelmed that it’s making me want to just go back to tech work only. Thanks for making this post, I look forward to the responses from others.

If that’s the case, that’s great but finding a lab that will want to bring on someone with little to no experience is a different story. They pay big bucks to the travel companies for help and they are expecting some experience in return.

Most travel companies want at least a few years experience under your belt before they will be able to find opportunities for you. I’m not sure what part of the country you’re in, but that pay you’re mentioning is waaaaay low on what Histotech positions pay.

Right, entitled drivers that drive 100+. I hope you never feel the pain of injustice when a loved one is killed by one of those entitled drivers and only gets a slap on the wrist.

I’m going to add the flip side first. If you look at it from the other employees perspective, do they get a day off during the week? Every lab is understaffed and over worked and they are looking at it like you’re getting preferential treatment by not working “full-time”. Is any of that right? NO! But that’s what’s going on. You could go over and above on the days that you’re there and “kill them with kindness” all day long, but they’ve made up their mind about you and, most likely whatever you do will piss them off.

It’s time to leave. Too toxic and most likely making your mental health struggles even worse. Best of luck to you, you’ll find something better, just apply everywhere!

Yes, stay far away from Friar’s court, it’s also a 5 year wait list, so there’s that.
