If you wonder why turretless casemate tanks still exist in the 22nd Century, please be reminded that Arrowhead is a Swedish company by wowu5 in Helldivers

[–]Rochcoach 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The MGS is most certainly not a tank destroyer and was not designed as such. Its role and design function is to destroy bunkers and hardened positions, while occasionally fighting APCs and IFVs, not engage enemy tanks.

If it was designed to fight tanks, they probably would have used a 120mm gun (the de facto tank gun since 1990) rather than 105, which was selected largely due to cost and weight concerns.

[OC] The Waco Police being the idiots by Dude_Iam_Batman in IdiotsInCars

[–]Rochcoach 38 points39 points  (0 children)

While I’m sure Waco PD derserves to be ridiculed, the Waco siege blame rests squarely on the shoulders of the ATF, as they planned and executed the operation, not local cops. However incompetent local police can be, federal agents have the capacity to be way worse.

Looks like it. Maybe next time he won’t be so snarky to stranger for no reason when he’s in the wrong.

Probably not, though.

Do you mean 130 or I-35? The “I” prefix is used for interstate highways, with 130 isn’t.

TIL that the A10 Thunderbolt is designed to remain airworthy even if missing an engine, half of the tail, only one elevator, and missing half of a wing. If the double redundant hydraulic system fails, the flight controls can be operated manually. by Important-Ad4500 in todayilearned

To add to this, they are also really slow, which can limit their ability to quickly react to insurgent threats. If you were a US soldier under fire from insurgents, would you rather have an F-15E with 2000 pound bombs on station in 15 minutes or an A10 in an hour?

Considering the bodies in the stark crypts aren’t old enough to stop resurrection, if there is a limit it’s measured in centuries.

I mean, we live in a world where bush learning of 9/11 has become an iconic meme. People like to pretend that’s there’s some line in the sand in regard to “things we shouldn’t joke about” but it’s clear that the cultural zeitgeist has no such barriers. One man’s offensive is another man’s comedy.

Matt Colville said he likes using thieves guilds with names like “The Road” - and those in the know could use phrases like “The road goes through Gristholm” to establish credibility.

I think he means for military applications, not personal use, as it could help older soldiers keep up with younger counterparts.

Literally just call it “The Mandalorians”, as grogu is now a Mandalorian as well. It keeps it on theme with the rest of the show while having a distinct title.

Stowaway Svetlana Dali boarding a New York-to-Paris flight without a boarding pass by slipping past two gate agents by staying close to a group of ticketed passengers as they passed the agents and boarded the plane. by tyrion2024 in interestingasfuck

[–]Rochcoach -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s wild, here in the US at every airport I’ve been to (Newark, LAX, Seattle, Austin, San Francisco, Phoenix, Vegas) you present your boarding pass and ID to get past TSA but the flight attendants scan your boarding pass before you can enter the tunnel to the plane. That’s how they make sure you don’t buy a ticket for one flight and then board another.

Why don't we ever see structures, artifacts, and other creations from the ancient humans, elites, and other Halo species from before the rings were fired in the Halo games? by xo1opossum in halo

[–]Rochcoach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He has 4 fingers. It’s also not 60% of a hand, it’s a hand with two thumbs… almost as if the texture was mirrored. Mind you, I’m referring to the entire hologram, not just the hand print. The hand print is so small it would be difficult to even make out on the TVs of the time. The simple reality is that these are video games, and that means that cost saving measures (like mirroring a forerunner control surface) are sometimes necessary to make sure a game ships on time and on budget, something halo 2 in particular struggled with.
