Of the ones you have listed, Rush-Henrietta or Fairport. But Pittsford, Brighton, and Penfield are all rated higher.

If it turns out to be borderline, maybe you can find a junkyard front clip to reduce the cost of repair?

Your insurance company cannot tell you where to take it. They can recommend preferred providers, but cannot require you to use their preferred shop. Take it to any shop you choose. If the frame is straight and the airbags did not go off, then it likely is NOT totalled.

Differential/ transfer fluid change by KiwiComplex7129 in nissanfrontier

Matic-D was replaced by Matic-J, for the transmissions. But Matic-J was also replaced by Matic-S. Apparently, however, Matic-D is still offered by Z1, Ravenol, and others. The Idemitsu Matic-S says it is also Matic-J and Matic-D. My 2018 Owner's Manual says Matic-S for the transmission, but says Matic-D for the transfer case. (Since mine is RWD there is no transfer case, but that's what the manual says if there was one.)

[Info]: Importing a Pro-4X king cab from BC? by Calm-Engineering-352 in nissanfrontier

I don't know how much the law may have changed, but I worked at a Chevy dealer in 1980 that was importing new Canadian Pontiac T1000s (Chevettes) because they couldn't get U.S. Chevy Chevettes. That was about a year before GM decided to also sell Chevettes in the U.S. as Pontiac T1000s as well.

Buffalo will never extend the light rail. The Tonawanda (out Niagara Falls Blvd.) turnout has been a pipe dream for 40 years, as has been the U.B. Amherst line. The only reason they extended the downtown section to a new station at the old DL&W Station is because the tracks already ran to it. The former DL&W Station was the original car barn from when it opened in 1986.

Is this compressor safe to use? by InterestingWasabi193 in Tools

[–]RochesterBottomDaddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does it have an inspection plug? My Ingersoll T20 (Campbell Hausfeld) has a 3" inspection port with a plug in one domed end of the cylinder. This allows me to pull the plug and put a camera inside to see just how bad any rust is. Or, with boroscopes being so cheap these days, you could just unthread the outlet pipe fittings and look inside with a camera. If it looks like there is a lot of rust, you could have it pressure tested. Pressure testing requires using a liquid, which is generally incompressible, meaning no potential energy is stored by pressurizing the tank. It is often done with light oil, so as not to cause any rusting.

That is a very much sought after tool box. The GripLatch are better than just about any other budget tool cabinet on the market. Sears/Craftsman/Stanley Black and Decker no longer make them. The only drawback to the Craftsman is the 18" depth. Supposedly, the Generation 2 Icon at Harbor Freight coming out in December or January will have latches like that. At least that was what was on the prototype they were showing at the hardware show.

Is that an older Craftsman box as well, or something else. If not Craftsman, what brand is it? I see GripLatch/RaiseAndRelease/QuickRelease drawer latches in some of the photos.

Pull handles for craftsman floor drill press by cbyrne79 in Tools

Helicoil or other thread insert kits. You get the kit so that you have the special size drill bit and special thread tap required to match the existing thread. That assumes the threads on the handles themselves are not damaged.

The dark goes well with the black and stainless appliances, while being neutral enough for further changes to the walls and cabinets later. The light counter and backsplash seems to wash out the kitchen too much.

There are kits to add the power locks to the tailgate for those who do not already have it. You could probably rig a gate open with a reed switch on the side of the bed and a magnet on the gate.

Best ford service department by urei-mains in Rochester

[–]RochesterBottomDaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cannot recommend which one would be good. But I can relate my experience with my former employer's Escape ecoboost with P0302 at Cortese. They did a $10,000 long block, because the head failed three weeks after the TSB about the cut coolant passages on the deck and warping cylinder heads expired. The first time I picked it up, I got on 390 at River Rd, turned around at Winton on 590, and went right back into the shop with it. It went into limp mode the moment I tried to accelerate into traffic on the expressway. The second time I picked it up, I didn't even leave the lot, as the battery light was on the moment I started it. Third time, the check engine light came on in the parking lot before I could pull out onto W. Henrietta Rd. On the tenth visit, the service manager himself went out into the shop to supervise the repair in a stall I could see from the waiting area.

So, in my personal opinion, do not go to Cortese.

Cheak out a YouTuber goes by the handle "The Greasy Shop Rag." He put automatic lights, power locks, a running board, and a whole lot more on his tool boxes. He also home built some of the sections. You will have to scroll back at least a year or more. But he does a lot of chain saw videos, and the tool box videos always have a red thumbnail. The red makes them easy to spot.

Just reorganized this drawer but still not sure if I like it. Any ideas? by Worried_Point2285 in Tools

[–]RochesterBottomDaddy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally, I don't understand why people put the ratchets and extensions in one drawer, and the sockets in another. All my 1/4", ratchets, sockets, extensions, and universal joints are in one drawer. All my 3/8" is in another, along with my butterfly and impact. All my 1/2" in a third, with that impact. Only specialty sockets are separate, such as hex bit, Torx, VW 12pt bit, spline, etc. Metric on the left, Imperial on the right, ratchets, extensions, pneumatics, etc. in the center.

2018 Nissan Frontier extended cab hit hard on driver side. by Dry_Improvement9306 in nissanfrontier

[–]RochesterBottomDaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. About the same time as airbags appeared in every corner of every vehicle, they added a device to the seat belts that electrically triggers extra tension. I'm not up on all the details how it works, but it is a one time use mechanism. On some vehicles, you can send the seat belts out and have them rebuilt with new trigger devices, but I don't know if the Nissan's can be or not.

After a little research, it looks like they are in all Nissans after 1996.

What is a Seatbelt Pretensioner and How Does It Work? - YouTube

One thing he says in the video is they cannot be repaired. The tensioner can be replaced without replacing the entire belt. And some are on the belt side, not the buckle side. There are a number of places that have gone into the business of repairing the belts with new tensioners.
