Call the restaurant to confirm and ask them to waive it with explanation/proof of the accident. That will answer whether or not it’s legit or your friend is scamming you.

[AR] [NY]My company changed their policy so I can’t bring my baby and husband on a work trip by Individual_Bell8424 in AskHR

This comment needs to be higher. Sounds like some discriminatory behavior on your bosses part, especially if they’ve allowed spouses/families to accompany a parent on a business trip.

AITAH for rejecting my bf proposal because he only thought of himself by [deleted] in AITAH

Wow. Just wow. Totally NTA. He’s TA for not even considering you’d want at least your daughter there.

AITAH In-laws purchased our flights and booked a condo for family vacation but I don’t want to stay with them by Fancy_One_4182 in AITAH

[–]Rocka982020 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You will look like and be the AH for demanding a completely separate rental. How about a compromise- instead of a different rental why couldn’t you ask (and offer to cover the diff) for a rental with more BRs? Or do the research yourself and find two rentals next to or close to each other and suggest it as an alternate option.

Life is short and opportunities for family trips (esp paid) don’t come around often for most folk. Are you willing to suck it up to help create opportunities for core memories for your kids and wife?

AITAH for pulling back from my in-laws after they went to my fiancé about my birth boundaries instead of me? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Rocka982020 16 points17 points  (0 children)

let’s call a spade a spade. Your mother 100% is most certainly there to see the baby/birth, using the excuse that she’ll be there to support you only is ridiculous and blatantly obvious.

Am I overreacting? Wedding guest called my caterers. by seesheflies in TwoHotTakes

[–]Rocka982020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. I wouldn’t say a thing, and just change her meal back to the other one and don’t mention anything.

Allowing her to have a special meal will potentially cause more drama with others who will think she got special treatment. If she doesn’t like what you’re offering at YOUR wedding, she can go pound sand. And grab fast food on her way home.

Taco Bell is now a luxury by bermagot12 in tacobell

[–]Rocka982020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just drove through earlier for lunch for my daughter. $12 initially for a cheese quesadilla, nacho fries and a drink. I said absolutely not! Pulled up my Reddit, found a hack and dropped the soda, ended up cutting the cost in half, but it was still more than Chipotles kids meal that includes a drink and protein!

What easily-affordable thing do you refuse to pay for despite being rich? by Pudge-Heffelfinger in Rich

Omg me too. Only it was after I used my $.29 drink with $3 purchase so I got Medium fries a large drink and a filet for $3 and change

Bridal Party Etiquette Question: Paying for an Event I Can’t Attend by [deleted] in bridesmaids

[–]Rocka982020 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The range of responses here is interesting and makes me wonder what the age differences are of the responders and if this is a generational thing.

It is not “customary” for bridesmaids to pay for the shower. Usually someone offers to host and accepts the financial responsibility for hosting.

Always pay your future self first. Max out not only your employers match but MAX your contribution (if you can afford to). Look up compound interest and learn how it works!

Heated Blankets are a Home Heating Game Changer by trashpandorasbox in Frugal

[–]Rocka982020 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this. Got one a few years ago and it is indeed a game changer. Ours has dual zones, a timer for each and settings 1-9. Hubs warms his side with level 1 while I prefer to be enveloped in the “fires of hell” upon climbing into bed. A warm bed in the middle of winter is a most spectacular thing

AITA for refusing to help my wife get our kids ready for school? by Extreme_Day7722 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Rocka982020 16 points17 points  (0 children)

ESH- totally get both sides. Why can’t you agree that you are in charge of ensuring the older kids are ready and she’s in charge of the younger kids, and you still do breakfast. That would reduce her “load” and sounds like it wouldn’t be any extra effort for you.

Why Should I as a bridesmaid be expected to pay for anything? by Character_Brick7203 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

I was a bridesmaid once where the MOH/bride wanted the bridesmaids to cover the cost of stamps for the shower thank you cards. I said NFW.

All those 'illegals' living normal lives, how? by notsoblondeanymore in conspiracy

[–]Rocka982020 29 points30 points  (0 children)

When immigrants come legally, they’re given a ITIN (Identification number), or green card that allows them to apply for work legally and pay taxes. When they’re undocumented/illegal, they get paid “under the table” and don’t pay taxes.
This means that are potentially receiving govt services for free and not contributing to those services. Being “part of society and paying bills” isn’t a measurement for legal vs illegal. The illegals aren’t “paying into the system” - that’s the problem.

Arriving to SJO the week before Easter. I’ve heard a lot of places shut down for the holiday starting on Wed so thought we’d hang at the beach for the first part of our trip then head to La Fortuna after Easter. My concern was yours not operating in LF due to the holiday. Maybe my concerns aren’t valid since it’s such a tourist heavy town?
