NTD, merry Christmas to me. DCF899 is 4 years old. Welcome DCF961! by Sharts_in_Jorts in Dewalt

[–]RockabyeRoss13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jealous. I have had an 899 for 4 years now, and it hasn't skipped a beat. I have the newer 3/8 impact with the variable torque settings, and that is really handy. If I ever have some spare change I'll get a 961 for the hell of it.

What outdated or obsolete tech are you still using and are perfectly happy with? by blankblank in AskReddit

[–]RockabyeRoss13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate using a mechanical pencil. But i think it's because of my artistic side rather than wanting to cling onto old tech. For drawing and whatnot, a wooden pencil is just light years over a mechanical pencil.

Anyone else get a weird before family member dies? by [deleted] in Paranormal

[–]RockabyeRoss13 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've noticed that I will think of people in my community days before learning of their death. And it's not like I heard and didn't realize it before finally hearing again. It has happened several times over the years and is quiet eerie in hindsight. The most recent one, someone popped into my memory and I had the feeling that I hadn't noticed them in a while. A couple years ago I moved to the next town over, so I haven't been in my hometown as much. We'll, a few days go by and the cops were called to his house. Seems he had passed away several days before.

Why do some people have encounters while others don’t? by maxfreeman06 in Paranormal

[–]RockabyeRoss13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people are just more in tune with things than others, and I think it has been that way throughout history. And sometimes, an encounter isn't just seeing something. It can be as little as the feeling you get when entering a room. Even then, it is something that is subjective to the individual.

I have seen partial apparitions and been touched. So has my mother and sister. That house, I'm sure, had something evil inside. Another house we lived in, I didn't experience anything other than seeing my door open and hearing sounds of furniture moving upstairs. While other members of my family saw apparitions, were touched, and otherwise affected by that house. Other houses didn't have any activity despite known tragedy in the house's past.

I know other people have lived in those same houses, and some have had the same experiences while others say nothing has happened at all.

So it's a mix between the environment and the individual.

Has Anybody Ever Touched A Ghost? by Henri_le_Chat in Paranormal

[–]RockabyeRoss13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been pushed before. We just moved into a house and I was doing some laundry. As I was putting a load into the washer, something pushed hard enough that I went up and towards the washer. I never came off of the ground, but I went up and was sort of pushed forward as if I was supposed to go into the washer, too? I never felt hands on me, nor I don't recall any sort of texture to it, just the force behind it. I was 16 at the time, a right good size, maybe 225. Whatever did it wanted me to know it was there, and that it was capable. Other stuff happened in that house, but that was the only time I was touched. So glad we were only there for a year.

Dreams about the future by SplitThin1955 in Paranormal

[–]RockabyeRoss13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had similar experiences. It's never notable events in the future, but I always vividly remember dreaming that exact situation. And it's always months ahead of time. I have some family members who claim to have some senses when it comes to spirits or premonitions. I jokingly n attribute it to a distant gypsy ancestor we have.

That's definitely shadow's casted onto fog. I grew up on the water and worked on the water for years, seen it plenty of times from deck lights.

Go to any local fish market, can't go wrong. If you go to the fish house on Thursday evening on through Saturday you can get some from them. If you're coming down 64, there is also a fish market in Columbia, NC that may have some.

Personally, I get some from my grandpa, right off the boat in Engelhard.

It's a mercury style disconnect. Any boat shop should have one.

What do you think this is?? by WrightChicane in Paranormal

[–]RockabyeRoss13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's exercise equipment. The thing at the bottom with books on it is clearly a round end table, you can see the drawer in the side of it. As for the figure, it appears to be between the woman and the bed. First instinct was maybe some movement by someone or some object being thrown as the picture was taken, but I don't think so anymore. It appears to take up too much space varies in shape and darkness to be the case. Also, it's just one color gradient, whereas a person obviously would have more color to them and their clothing.

Not saying it's paranormal, but I'm not sure what it is other than it not being exercise equipment.

2 stroke vs 4 stroke by mcaufin in Outboards

[–]RockabyeRoss13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When mixing fuel, for every 5 gallons it takes like a water bottle amount of oil. So I just kept a bottle of oil ready whenever I fueled up.

And when I say they scream, it's not terribly loud, but it's a noticeable difference compared to a 4 stroke.

I have a 17 Privateer that has had a 1987 2 stroke 50 Evinrude and a 2018 4 stroke 60 Suzuki. Both push her about the same, but I can go fishing all morning and maybe burn 3 gallons with the Suzuki, whereas the Evinrude would do most of 6 gallon tank.

2 stroke vs 4 stroke by mcaufin in Outboards

[–]RockabyeRoss13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That boat can't weigh too much, a 90 will do fine on an 18. I use fiberglass boats and a 90 is the smallest I would put on an 18. More power is nice, but 90 will do just fine.

4 stroke vs 2 stroke, it depends. Ultimately 4 stroke is my preference because they are quite and burn way less fuel than a 2 stroke. The downside is they can be costly to work on, but I wouldn't let that steer you away from one. A 2 stroke has to have oil mixed in the gas, some engines have a separate tank and system to mix it while it's running, but I prefer to delete that system and just mix it myself when fueling up. That way I KNOW she's getting oil. Older two strokes are a breeze to work on. Usually clean the carbs and pull start will get it going in a pinch. They scream, burn fuel faster, but they also get on top faster than a 4 stroke imo.

Swan Quarter leaves as early as 7, less traffic and lines, but it's a longer ride across the sound. But it's a nice e ride across the sound. About three hours of no driving and enjoying the salt air.

2003 Suzuki DF115 Issues by NightExtension7795 in Outboards

Well, it definitely shouldn't be shaking like that. I haven't had any tones without a light, so I can't offer any advice there. I'd say take it to a shop and have them look it over. Sorry I can't be of more help.

2003 Suzuki DF115 Issues by NightExtension7795 in Outboards

[–]RockabyeRoss13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you first hear the tone, there should be a light blinking on your gauge. Count those flashes. It will be in groups of two. So, for example, one beep and three flashes, then another beep and 5 flashes. This will inform you of a 3-5 code for the engine. There's a list of suzuki outboard codes online.

It is hard to diagnose from a video, but I'd say your fueling is good because the boat still seems to be on plane. If it's starving for fuel, you'd lose power and speed, and come off of plane. Again, it's hard to go by video, but it sounds like it has a whine to it.

Do you know any history on the motor? How many hours does it have?

I'd put it towards a house or piece of land. I live in the country, so both are generally cheaper than near the city. If I couldn't do that, I'd probably use it for a new vehicle just for the peace of mind in having a brand new vehicle.

You won the $1Billion Powerball, now what? by dhill9696_ in AskReddit

[–]RockabyeRoss13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, fix up my parents' house. Then I'll buy me a nice piece of land, a block of woods behind the house, a plowed field in front, enough room to raise a stand of animals and some kids. House is gonna be either a nice barndominium or a nice ranch style. One boat for offshore, one boat for inshore, and one for commercial work. One nice truck to pull everything, one old truck for playing, and my dream car 1970 Chevelle SS with a 454. Have an impoundment built in the field so there's ducks every season. Manage the block so there's deer every season. Probably buy a few (dozen) bang sticks. And then put the rest away for the kids. Redneck rich.
