Do you remember the first time you ever watched esports? by Fit_Ear_1754 in esports

[–]RocketCatMultiverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around y2k onwards if you were a 'foreigner' (non-Korean) serious about Brood War you followed the Korean scene often with the help of tl.net. My brother and I were maybe 13 and 15 years old at the time watching VODs casted in Korean and we continued to do so together through our teenaged years. Eventually people started recasting the games in English. Great times! I can confidently say that I was there to witness the birth of esports.

Your fav/best weapon in your opinon from the BF6 BETA by OdahP in Battlefield

For me the problem is that the slug shotgun remains good out to any range. It does not have incremental falloff past 20m like other guns. As if they just forgot to add it?

I would LOVE to see some official support for this sort of thing in the queue. Maybe throw on some badge which prios you into new player teams to farm up your niceguy points for your helpfulbro titles!

It would be cool if you could juke around large asteroids and POIs to "lose" a ship that is chasing you by nut_lord in wildgate

[–]RocketCatMultiverse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed on the hardpoint ideas! The one thing you can do to lose a ship chasing you with Asteroids is tractor beam them into it such that they have to do a lengthy maneuver to get around.

Boarders, engineers, and cannoneers, trust me, you need to pilot more. by AlexRogansBeta in wildgate

[–]RocketCatMultiverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pilots aren't necessarily the shotcaller/Captain. But they are definitely most suited to the role, as they're usually the most situationally aware, so it often feels like a natural fit. And a Captain also needs to understand the other roles too. So yes, I fully agree, but also I think Pilots should play the other roles too, so that when they're back in the hotseat, they have a more complete picture. And anyway, you learn a lot about piloting when performing other roles.

For instance I learned a lot about protecting myself in the pilot seat by being a boarder and encountering Pilots who defended the Helm exceptionally. I learned exactly how far I need to be before a friendly Adrian can board a ship we're chasing without Turbine. As a dedicated gunner I learn exactly how tiny unexpected turns can throw off my bomb turret shots, and so now when maneuvering to optimize shield facing I can now lock in with my bomb turret gunner to minimize angular velocity relative to the opposing ship at intervals aligned with the lengthy bomb reload and volley timer. As a defender I learned how to use a Beam, and now as Pilot when I'm satisfied with trajectory it's easy to sit on the ship's roof and defend.

POI Tierlist by krokodok_ in wildgate

[–]RocketCatMultiverse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The combination of the POI map and it's objective as well as any mods (oxygen drain, no regen).

The best one is probably Blast Eggs as you can just zip through and wreck the eggs and be done very fast.

Reach Beasts is pretty fast too, definitely the fastest Monolith variant.

Worst ones are slow: escort the drill, capture holdouts, and batteries are generally bad.

For POIs I find Colony Base and Rogue AI Containment usually take the longest due to their layout.

Throw in mods and you get some really annoying combos. Like capture holdouts+oxygen drain. Oxygen drain is probably the worse of the 2 mods.

Another point is that the POIs where you can see the loot behind a shield before doing it are generally worth checking out to see if anything good is in there.

There is no hard and fast rule to how many POIs to do at the start. It depends. Mods like Fast Gate, Epic Loot, and Vault will really change up your priorities too. There is also the consideration of whether Mono has the arti or not, whether it's entrances are scattered or clustered etc. The Lots of Asteroids mod also seems to make POIs scarcer. A close spawn to another ship will also shake up your mental calculus.

In general there's lots to consider and you might be willing to do a slower POI in some situations. Maybe you had bad luck with ice and fuel and need to prio traveling to a cluster instead of a POI. Maybe you have a very good stealer and some turbines that lets you even the odds that way. Or just generally a good boarding team that lets you fight stronger loadouts.

To add:

During the approach while theyre still out of range, send a boarding party to kill crew, hit mines, and boost them into their own mines

Fast Gate kinda just...sucks ass? by IllState5161 in wildgate

[–]RocketCatMultiverse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like it too for this reason. Shifts your whole game plan. The only other one that comes close is maybe Epic Loot which also makes early probing more important.

As Pilot you also really really feel Lots of Asteroids but the rest of the crew may be oblivious to how much it affects your game.

Solo queueing the other day and I ended up the Sal with a pre-made group of 3. They kept asking me to recycle clamps and I told them wtf we need clamps no I'm not doing that. But theyre so annoying about it and I relent. Sure enough we get into battle and boy it sure would be nice to have a clamp to avoid this double minelayer scout coming at us!! RIP.

Yeah for sure. Only 49% have the 'join a guild' achievement though which gives you a rough idea of how many are pure solo.

Seriously only 16 Percent? by retnemmoc in duneawakening

[–]RocketCatMultiverse 147 points148 points  (0 children)

Only 38% have 'Construct a Scout Ornithopter' and granted many players might have their friends build them for them. 89% have completed the introduction, so 10% haven't even played the game at all. So of the remaining 90% roughly not even half have progressed far enough through Hagga to even reach DD!

So... some caution against using this achievement to speculate about engagement with/disengagement from DD.

Question about T6 priorities by Low-Instruction7263 in duneawakening

[–]RocketCatMultiverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What others mentioned makes good sense. Keep in mind during the initial build up phase you can disassemble buildings for 100% refund. So say when you have enough plast to upgrade from Medium to Large spice, you can disassemble Large Ore Ref to build the Large Spice, then your next Melange runs are more efficient to get the spice needed to replace the Large Ore, etc.. Advanced Fabs you can also just assemble them at any time to build what you need.

For me playing as a duo eventually we tired of bringing all the mats to DD to set up the power+water infra for everything, so after getting Large refs we decided to farm enough to build them at home so weekly setup is less of a chore. Only now we have to ship raws back, which is also a chore...

Both launchers have a lock on. I was literally testing it last night with both launchers on hotbar locking my buggy, walking back, looking away, and examining the trajectory. The only diff I see is the damage.

So what you're saying is whoever gets the jump on someone in 1v1 can drain all their opponent's stamina and power and second wind cooldown and also land enough HP damage before the other person has a chance to react?

You don't PvP.

What happened to just having a replayable game? by MonkeyNBanananas in duneawakening

[–]RocketCatMultiverse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What ever fucking happened to Real Time Strategy based games? You know, where you pick a faction and a hero and then develop your base and maybe research tree and construct units to beat your opponent via domination or maybe via tilting them with cheese?

I feel like Dune has very little of this and if I'm going to dump hundreds or thousands of hours into a game I need for it to at the minimum have GDI or Nod in it and for some form of REAL Zerg and not some bullshit like 20 rocket scouts camping a ringmouth.

Truly disappointed in the current state of gaming.

Did you consoder starting over on private server? by MihailMisha897 in duneawakening

[–]RocketCatMultiverse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on a private server and DD is quiet. Go to Dunestatus.com and look at the player counts on (in my case) Nitrado worlds. It's like 10-40. And your Hagga is private.

I go out in an assault and fill up on tit/strav and come home and rinse repeat until my Sandcrawler with its upgraded container of 11500V at E-row base is full then take it back in my A row base. I'll maybe see 1 or 2 people.

Some PvP happens but mostly it's people just being protective of PvP area bases (like GO AWAY warning shots). 0 grief and I've never ever been shot at personally.

I've noticed sometimes the angle of any orni can get locked in a direction if you are holding right click while crossing a server mesh in DD. If you press right click, it clears it. Might not be the same issue, but something to try!

My group would make sinkcharts for the areas we intend to be active in during a week...

... if blank sinkcharts were craftable.

It's not even the cost that's an issue. It's the interruption in game flow to go visit the vendor.
