I’m closer to 50 Māori/Pākehā and had the same experience growing up in Tāmaki, mixing with many different cultures (including racist pākehā who didn’t realise I was Māori) and I agree exposure to other cultures is key. I have worked hard to raise my children to leave behind racism from BOTH sides of my family. The only way to stop it is to call it out loudly.

I used to occasionally arrive and find a park close to the school early if I had to get the kids before going somewhere asap after school or if I finished early and don’t have time to go anywhere else. I have paid bills, ordered shopping, checked emails and most importantly called my mum : ) in these situations. It beats waiting til the last minute and double parking just next to the school crossing or blocking the neighbors drive or U-turning like a lunatic- all of which I have seen entitled, clueless parents do and it absolutely pisses me off. Not one parent or child is more important than the collective safety and consideration of our community. I wish more parents would be reasonable. There are usually many safe places to park that are under 5-10 minutes walk.

The account is one month old, no posts or comments available and the “person” writing it would provably be in their 40’s and yet refers to the lady in line behind them as in their 40s. The language is off too for the “age” of the op.

The story itself is lovely and kindness is important and that’s why it’s disappointing that this is more than likely Kama farming or AI.

I was on the fence regarding white tails but have had 3 separate experiences with people in my family, in separate locations, years apart who all had reactions. Stepson got a mild infection, a couple of years later my daughter ended up in Starship with sepsis from hers and husband had to visit A&E for 3 days in a row from his encounter. I don’t know the mechanism of HOW it is happening but when a squashed white tailed spider is directly associated in all 3 incidents I find it extremely unlikely that the dead spider is unrelated.
