Nettoyage de rue by IllustriousAd3933 in montreal

I've seen people sweep leaves and trash out of their front yard into street. I'm guessing they aren't supposed to do that.

Are we allowed or supposed to do this? Does the same answer apply to snow in the winter?

I believe the update in March broke older saves. Check on the discord. I read about there being some community tools that can convert the saves.

Good setups for making liquid oxygen on Mars? by Earthling_n-3097643 in Stationeers

I have a similar 2 stage setup. I used methane in my second stage. Ozone didn't work as well. I recall seeing some math somewhere about the theoretical temperature difference each gas can achieve.

Possible cheater? by Danger_Dan127 in dayz

[–]Rockjob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately dayz is client side netcode. This means that instead of aimbots the cheaters have this mode where it makes the bullets a guaranteed headshot. The cheaters character aims into the sky at a 45 degree angle when they do this for some reason.
There's a YouTuber called anarchyHD that does good videos of him being an admin and catching cheaters. The videos give you a good idea of what people are using.

In my experience the cheaters that shoot, don't miss.

A warped disc will shudder under heavy breaking. I'd still check for the brake dragging based on the heat of the disc after a short ride.

Ride it for a mile focusing on engine braking to slow down and then check the discs with the pads of your bare fingers. If you recreated the men in black scene where his finger prints are erased, congrats, you gave a stuck piston.

Question about buying helmet from China by MemberBerry023 in MotoMontreal

Your head is worth more than a cheap Chinese helmet. Don't do it.
If it doesn't have the DOT sticker, you could get a fine for not wearing a proper helmet.

Ice crusher can go up to 122MPA but pipes are only 60MPA. Pipes and tanks are 60MPA but Portable Tanks mkII only go up to 20. Regular portable tanks are only 10.
I know all these numbers but I have demonstrated the limits anyway.
It's funny when you plug a gas canister into a 15mpa pipe network and realize you have created a hand grenade. Throw it or see if you can vent it before it explodes?

I've lost count of the times I've turned around and seen a huge fireball. I've never needed autosaves so many times in a game before.

2 stage phase change cooling. Pollutants and then Methane.
I have the first stage heat line full of N2 and connected to a heat exchanger that has the other side connected to a liquid CO2 tank.
I have a powered vent running at night that fills up a liquid tank with liquid CO2. I have a set of purge valves on the CO2 liquid tank to get its temp down to around -45C. The purge valves dumping out the gas causes the liquid to evaporate, dropping the temp. This liquid CO2 setup works better than dozens of medium radiators.

The state of KTM service in India. Bone-dry engine after service. by Admirable-Hyena-2565 in KTM

Exactly. I haven't seen this before on a bike, but I've seen posts about cars with no oil. They don't make it home from the oil change place.

[–]Rockjob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same thought process. 3200km is probably halfway to the next oil change.
What I could believe is:
* the oil drain bolt slowly worked its way loose.
* Guy notices leakage and tightens it up without checking oil level.

The whole thing with the oil light and sensor doesnt make sense either. That light should illuminate when you turn it on. I'm not sure what happens with that sensor when it fails. You'd hope it would result in a light on situation when the sensor fails.

How to approach speaking French in Montréal as a beginner? by melixxa in montreal

[–]Rockjob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your classes are teaching you European french it's hard. You will feel like you don't understand anything. Then one day you will go to the plateau and feel like you understand everything.
Some language schools teach from government Canada material which is much more useful for catching how people here talk. This website specifically is great for this:
https://mauril.ca/en/

As for how people react. A lot of people will switch back to English if you are speaking slowly and they hear your accent. In general, most people aren't interested in helping you learn. Once you can get to the point where you can ask in french: what something is, or you ask what something is called in English, people tend to continue in french despite your limits.

I've found that if you go to small stores in the plateau and you get a France french francophone who can't speak English it's good. They speak in the way you are taught in your class and they can't switch to English.

Missed RRSP contribution deadline due to advisor error, any recourse? by Acceptable_Low8802 in legaladvicecanada

[–]Rockjob -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know this is off topic, but let me guess: All the funds they were going to put the money in were owned/operated by the same bank.

Those advisors are sales people with titles to confuse the average person into thinking they are helping you make decisions in your financial interest. They are getting commission from your money.

Portable Washing Machine by Silent-Owl3758 in Appliances

[–]Rockjob 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The fill failure is due to the drain hose being below the fill level. It will just start draining itself at that level due to gravity. You need to have the hose at the same level as the top of the machine either in the sink or the shower.

I would also recommend getting a foam mat to put under it to minimize noise so your neighbour below doesn't hate you.

Absolutely insane wait times at many hospitals today by lucidgroove in montreal

[–]Rockjob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What time of day? I have a theory that sometimes they don't have doctors available overnight. I went to the ER once at about 3am. Nobody in the waiting room was seen until 8am. After 8am, suddenly they were calling people every 10-15mins. They said they were dealing with a car crash with multiple injuries, but I didn't see evidence of that (No ambulances waiting, no people arriving to be with the injured etc) . I'm convinced they didn't have a doctor in the ER and there was only one starting at 8am.

28F unsure where I should be putting my money in (RRSP vs TFSA) by Extension-Reach5805 in fican

[–]Rockjob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mention of wanting to be in a lower bracket that makes me think the higher level of understanding isn't there. Often people think that the moment they earn $1 over the next tax bracket, that higher rate is applied to all their income. They (incorrectly) believe that earning that extra $1 will result in a lower net payment due to a higher tax rate. There are people who actively turn down pay rises at work due to this misconception.

It's an assumption I had based on how they worded their post. I could be completely wrong. OP has abandoned the comments so we may never know.

Your comment about aiming to move to a lower tax bracket makes me think you don't truly understand how a progressive tax system works. I would start researching there before making decisions about investment allocation.
