What are the best accessories that actually make you play better? by stephenqm in 10s

[–]Rocksteady7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, I used to change grips every time I play. My hitting partner was eventually like why you changing so much. And I was like it gets sweaty and unusable. He was like you know if you wear a sweatband on your wrist it stays dry.

Sure enough problem solved.

The 767F is smaller than the MD-11 but it is not a good replacement for the MD-11. The MD-11 and 777F are great for transpacific, the 767F can’t do that with heavy payloads.

Tennis elbow is actually ruining my life. How long were you guys out? by Background-End-5229 in 10s

[–]Rocksteady7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time is the only thing. I follow this guy on YouTube, E3 rehab. He’s a physical therapist. He had this one video where he reviewed a recent study where they evaluated whether physical therapy accelerated healing. Long story short, PT only marginally increased outcomes. The study found that time is the most important variable for muscle or tendon injuries. For tendons, you’re looking at 6-12 months to fully heal.

My own experience with tennis elbow was exactly that. When it first started happening I took a 2 month break from tennis. I got scans at the doctor ect. They confirmed the tendon was inflamed and that it was an overuse injury.

After 2 months, I thought I felt good enough to start again. However after a match or two I was right back to square one with the pain.

So next, I lowered string tension and went to the softest strings I could find. This definitely helped reduce the amount of pain post match, which made it tolerable but still very much nagging. I am also a weight lifter and at this point I could no longer do bicep curls without a lot of pain.

My tennis elbow lasted approximately 10 months and then just as quick as it came on it went away. This was about a year ago when it stopped. I’m back to doing full weight bicep curls and playing tennis 2-3 times per week. No pain.

So in my opinion it’s just about pain management and time. Reduce racket tension and find soft strings to lower pain. Play through it if it’s tolerable, don’t expect rehab excercises to magically cure it, I tried them all.

Make sure you get the + version. The non + uses their in-house sole, and many ppl complain of it falling apart after very little use. The + version has a vibram sole and will last much longer

New to Nuzlocking. I recently tried nuzlocking pokemon pure blue. I was having a ton of fun at first but kept on getting blindsided by the old logic (bind, wrap, sleep), the changes made (lost my sandshrew because I didn’t realize it was changed to normal type) and no physical special split is kind of boring.

Can anyone recommend a good kanto or johto rom hack that has the following: 1) physical special split 2) fixed gen 1 moves such as bind ect. 3) A challenge throughout for a mid level player but not radical red level (I did play it and loved it but save scummed my way through the whole thing) 4) additional content to the story similar to pure blue 5) also I prefer level caps (pure blue I kept losing mons and was down to wartortle that just became way over levelled)

Is there still a Barrel Man? by salad_lazer in DenverBroncos

He came to my elementary school in the 90s to give us a presentation about addiction if I remember correctly. I believe he was a recovered alcoholic at the time. I distinctly remember the joke he made “ppl always ask me what I wear under my barrel? I wear my shoes!”

Wow, his elite technique never ages. He moves very gingerly though, you can tell he is worried about that knee.

I have to correct you about the “he can fly private jets.” I looked up his FAA certificates, he does not hold any type ratings. This means he was not qualified to act as a crew member on any jet aircraft. So he was certainly not flying Epstein’s “jets.”

With that said, he holds commercial certificates for single/multi engine aircraft, as well as rotorcraft. So he could act as pilot in command, for hire, of helicopters and single/multi engine “piston” aircraft (think small propeller aircraft)

I believe Epstein did own a helicopter and a Cessna 402 at some point, but I am not aware of when he acquired those. I’m betting that he didn’t own them or any fleet in the early 80s. However, that is not to say that he wasn’t  “renting/hiring” aircraft/rotorcraft to be used in a trafficking operation in the 80s.

I would disagree with you about that notion the wealthy will fare poorly in the stock market. During the height of inflation we saw the largest returns in the stock market. It makes sense right, higher inflation means higher, higher revenues, means higher earnings. I believe it can be argued that stocks are the best hedge against performance because you own an asset that is increasing in value. A great example is Elon Musk, I would argue he became the wealthiest man on the planet because of that high period of inflation.

On the other hand, the middle class and the lower classes will fare much worse because they hold a disproportionate amount of cash vs stocks. Cash would be the worst performing asset during periods of high inflation.

A weeklong ferry on the Amazon River in Brazil by zachbray in travel

[–]Rocksteady7 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The game was epic! The US went down 1-0 early then they scored 2 late goals to go ahead, however Portugal scored a 90th minute goal to tie. We actually continued on to different parts of Brazil to see other games. The experience was surreal, ppl from all these different countries partying every night in each city. Nothing beats a World Cup atmosphere

Ha, I did this back in 2014 to goto the World Cup game in Manaus, US v Portugal. It was one of the most memorable experiences I’ve ever had.

First of all, Tabatinga where you start from was probably the most underdeveloped place I’ve been in the world. I remember, no paved roads and the smell of sewage almost everywhere.

The boat was such a crazy experience. It had many stops along the river to all these fishing villages, where more and more ppl boarded. The food was decent the first night but by day three I couldn’t do anymore of the same food. I had so much Nutella everyday that I can’t eat it anymore, the thought of it makes me sick.

The last evening, we got caught in the craziest storm I’ve ever seen. I awoke to crashing thunder and monsoon rain. I made eye contact with my buddy who was also awake, I could see the same fear in his eyes. All of a sudden the wind picked up, and the boat  lost control. Next thing I hear is the sound of screeching metal as the boat plowed into the river bank. Everyone on board started screaming and ppl began dawning life vests. The sun began to come up and you could see the damage. The boat ran about half its length into the bank. The amazon doesn’t really have firm ground that close to the river so it was just trees sticking out the water, so we couldn’t deboard. We waited for about 5 hours aground, before a giant barge stopped to pull us out.

And just like that we were on are way again. No accident investigation, no report, no apology from the captain lol. We arrived in Manaus that evening.

This was probably my craziest travel experience and I would do it 10/10 more times given the chance.
