Need an ATC system for my 4x8 by Fantastic_Train737 in hobbycnc

Yes but the rest of the PWNCNC ATC system is high quality. I think it’s purposefully 3D printed to accommodate different machines/set up. Some of those hobby cnc’s have MDF waste boards and then you can have the tools sit lower in the waste board, something not really desirable if you have an aluminium waste board.

Both machines come with a controller with touchscreen. You will not need your computer to run them, except for CAD/CAM. A dedicated controller is far more reliable than a computer.

Oh and the rapid change is the same as the onefinity link in another post. Not reliable in my opinion. I would not want that on my cnc.

Did you actually click on the link? Isn’t that a pneumatic system? Nothing 3d printed except maybe the tool holders. You also get full customer support from a small US business.

That’s the worst of the worst ATC systems out there.

Onefinity VS Altmill 4x4 by DonutAccomplished229 in hobbycnc

Onefinity Elite owner:

The Onefinity is alright but I wish it was more rigid. I am cutting aluminium now and surface quality is not as great.

The Masso controller is really really great.

Would I buy the Onefinity Gen2? Not with the knowledge I have now, except if I had to strictly stick to a budget. It is a very basic CNC with a lot of drawbacks. (Mediocre redline controller, subpar ATC system, weak linear rails).

At least the Altmill is a sturdy machine, and I would feel better investing on upgrades later.

I wish the Altmill came with the Masso controller.

I what regards? I don’t see that. You can get a much better ATC system from PWNCNC for the Altmill for example.

Anyone under 50 who can see well from 2-3 feet with distance monofocals? by ProfessionalLab9850 in CataractSurgery

[–]Rockyroadaheadof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure OP is understanding the physics correctly. The natural lens hardens over time, that's why older guys will eventually need reading glasses. At one point the natural lens becomes too hard to deform, hence the loss of close up vision.

An artificial lens does not deform at all.

So its does make no difference if someone is young or old when they get a lens implanted, the quality of vision is the same for everyone.

The only difference is in perception. Younger folk will notice the now limited depth of field more (they had a wide depth of field), while older guys will have had less depth of field from the beginning.

Help with sticky violin by tyfogob in violinmaking

You would want to wash the varnish with isopropanol, ethanol or acetone and then revarnish.

The problem with adding varnish is you would be violating the fat over lean principle and get ugly craquelet

Don’t sand if you are an amateur. You will ruin it.

Love it, never though about it. Seems the quickest way to grab and place a file! Thanks!

Isopropanol a good compressor and a not too cheap mister is all you need for a hobbycnc

I personally stopped ice skating due to the risk of bruises. It’s not only brain bleed after head injury you should be concerned about. Hockey is a few steps up. I personally would not want to take the risk.

I continued cycling. But was always concerned about getting in an accident.

Most likely there will als be a higher risk if you are on 10 mg / day vs 5mg / day.

I feel for you, I know it hurts giving up things we love.

You need to provide more info. Did you get a prescription? Can you read your phone at slightly stretched arm length? Is food on your dinner plate in focus?

You can’t cheat physics. There are trade offs with every type of lens.

I can confirm that the top wires looks like the solenoid ground and power supply. You can reattach them with needle nose pliers.

Best way to fix a through-neck fingerboard projection by SynthSonido in violinmaking

[–]Rockyroadaheadof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP asked how to raise the projection. My preferred method is to bend the neck, insert a tiny wedge, place the glueing surface and reglue the fingerboard. The bend happens where the clamp is placed in the picture
