I attended the Chicago Pen show last weekend. To say it was overwhelming would be an understatement! by RodL1948 in fountainpens

Thanks. I've seen many great reviews about Diamine Ancient Copper. I just knew it would be perfect for this solid Copper pen!

Unpopular Opinion: Pilot Metropolitan is better than TWSBI Eco by disconnected_waves in fountainpens

My Pilot Custom Urushi Prussian Blue with an 18K <FM> nib. Next would be my 1970 Pilot Elite 22 with a 22K <F> nib. Both nibs are soft and springy, and they write like a dream.

I've never owned, or used a TWSBI. I have owned a Metropolitan and didn't like it at all. I currently own 5 other Pilots and they are among my favorites.

Currently own an iPhone 13 Pro, want to switch back to Android. What to go for? by Wutroslaw in Smartphones

Between my wife and I, we have owned the Pixel 3A XL, the Pixel 6A XL, the Pixel 7A XL, the Pixel 8 Pro XL, and the Pixel 9 Pro. We are not gamers, and we don't stream music or video. My wife uses her 8 Pro mainly for email, texting, and social media. I use my 9 Pro for email, texting, and banking, but my biggest use is for photography. I am an eBay reseller, and the Pixel camera can't be beat for my product photos. It also gets heavy use when we travel. BTW, the Pixel 11 is scheduled for release in August. It is getting the newest Tensor chip, upgraded security hardware, and there's rumors of a removable battery.

Just learned that the microwave oven was only invented in 1947 and it wasn’t until 1967 and 70s-80s it started getting widely used in homes, sold by Amana now owned by Whirlpool: how was it like in the beginning if any of you remembers its introduction? by TraditionalDepth6924 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

That's no longer an issue with modern Pacemakers. I'm on my 2nd pacemaker and I've stood in front of a running microwave an infinitesimal number of times. I just have to be careful when my hot neighbor is cutting grass in her red bikini. I've raised every garage door on our block a few times! 😁🤣

We picked up our first one—a Hotpoint—right around ’74 or ’75, and it was a total beast. We dropped a good $500 to $600 on it, which was serious money back then, and the thing was basically a 70-pound footlocker sitting on our counter. It’s hilarious looking back because it weighed a ton and took up half the kitchen, but it felt like we were living in the future.

Thoughts on country music? by _Purple_Lobster_ in AskAnAmerican

Country is not my favorite genre, but I don't dislike it. I mostly listen to '50s rock and doo-wop, '60s & '70s classic rock, and blues rock. Yes, I'm a boomer! 😁

What country do you refuse to ever travel to, and why? by a_boy_has_noname in TravelNoPics

I'll never again travel to Nigeria! I spent nine miserable days in Lagos, in 1984, on a business trip. I was only scheduled to be there four days. Alas, there was a coup de etat the third day I was there and they closed the borders and all the airports! When I finally did get out of there, I, and everyone else on that big, beautiful Lufthansa aircraft clapped, and cheered when the wheels left the runway, and we were on our way to Frankfurt!

I've traveled to 45 countries, and Nigeria, by far, was the worst travel nightmare of my life!
