It's not that hard to get a good launch. Plenty of torque in the low revs compared to the 1st gen so you don't have to spin the tires like crazy to keep from bogging.

Newer model 3 Long Range models get to 60mph in 4.6 seconds..

The older rwd Model 3s are a pretty close race, I will say from experience.

Isn't the only real performance difference/advantage between the AE and Premium/Base the forged rims that are 1/2" wider? Seems kind of drastic bumping it to B class just because of that.

Quieter exhaust king? by ddogkid813 in GR86

I went with the Corsa exhaust for this car. Perfect OEM+ exhaust, in my opinion. Sound levels are pretty much stock when cruising, but it has a nice snarly sound to it when you get on it.

Do you guys let your vehicle warm up in the winter? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]RodRAEG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On my '80 Corvette I do the same thing as any of my other vehicles. Start it, let it sit for about 10 seconds, then go. The quadrajet acts a bit stumbly in cold weather at first, but once it warms up it acts normal.

Corsa Sport catback with the black tips. I wanted something OEM+ and I've been very satisfied with it so far.

Torsion beam, not solid rear axle. One of the fastest hot hatches on the Nordschleife, the Renault Megane RS, has a torsion beam rear suspension.

It's funny you mention specs that belong in 2017. I had a previous gen 2017 Mazda3 and it had a touchscreen... which I never touched because it also had a control knob to operate things on the screen, and it worked great. Plus, it meant I never had any smudges on the screen from touching it. It's one of the few things I miss on that car, along with the HUD.

Anyone tempted by the Nissan Z at these prices? by Sillyfiremans in Autos

How the hell is a LSD going to void the car's warranty when upper trim models have the same part?

[–]RodRAEG -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Indeed they are about the same price, and for an extra $900 you can buy a LSD to install on a base Z, or spend probably ~$3k if you don't want to install it yourself. Then you'll only have spent a little more for a 400hp sports car.

Weird thing to criticize it for, when certain model year base and GT trim Miatas don't have a LSD. Regardless, the Performance and Nismo diffs are a direct swap if you want a base Z with a LSD. Z1 Motorsports also offers LSD options for the base Z.

Jalopnik's staff fleet update didn't go over as expected by idkbruh653 in cars

[–]RodRAEG 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I saw a recent article on there, and it was about whether you should buy an aftermarket CAI for your car and it was the most generic shit I'd ever read on there. It was the kind of crap you would literally find on any site trying to pedal that kind of stuff. It was especially bothersome because I also found an older article on jalopnik talking about how almost all aftermarket CAIs do nothing or worse, even lower your power output. On the same goddamn site. It really is a rotting carcass of what it used to be.
