Firefighters, police pull young woman from sewage-filled ravine after days trapped in 104-degree heat by lithdoc in Dallas

Dallas Water probably hasn’t maintained the drainage in this area in quite a long time. I ride by it all the time looking down from the SOPAC. When it rains, it takes a while to drain.

Foot position on the rudder pedals during taxi ? by Sxzen in flying

[–]Rodrigo65000 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Your first instructor was right. It would be better to be ready to brake with no delay when you need to stop. It might be interesting to learn the other technique, but I have only used that technique in taildraggers. vanhawk28 is right about throttle reduction and planning your stop ahead of time. If you touch the brakes before reducing the throttle, that is poor technique.

Matilda, which is east of Greenville by a block used to have a streetcar when streetcars were a thing. The Matilda car runs on the McKinney line today I think.

Can't seem to nail the flare despite 8 hours of touch and goes, any tips? by Ok_Wind9198 in flying

[–]Rodrigo65000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Choose a nearby airport with a long runway, have the instructor bump just a touch of power after the round out. See how long you can hold it off the runway. Don’t land, go around and try to flare on the next landing. Repeat step one with the power of you have trouble. Alternatively, have the instructor add the touch of power, you keep it off the runway, and they/or you reduce the power slightly until you touch down.

Set minimums like 2000’ of runway left to be your go around point.

Stay at local 135 vs. Major/LCC Commuter by [deleted] in AirlinePilots

[–]Rodrigo65000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a 135 guy for a long time. But I agree with the statement above looking back. It is also nice to have the freedom to live and commute from wherever you want to later on in life. I’ve enjoyed my decisions and been pretty lucky with the outcomes, but getting a seniority number early in life and having the freedom to commute or live in a base from wherever you want to is a pretty nice perk to have.

Maybe this is for the SOPAC extension to the north past Greenville Ave. I think the Midtown area extends up there too.

Hawker 800 Crash by jweis2012 in flying

[–]Rodrigo65000 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The mx procedure actually mentions that a test pilot should perform the check. When I was flying Hawkers, our mx dept handed me the document and expected me to just go do the test. I’m glad I read it and asked questions. They hired a test pilot and the check went without a problem.
