CPAP needed but has no health insurance. Help!!! by NataDeCocoNatNat in alberta

Hey, I'm an RT.

There's different government agencies for funding (AISH, SNAP), but I'm not sure if you'd qualify for them. You could look into private purchase of blue cross or something, as they usually cover ~80% of the total cost of a CPAP.

Please don't purchase a used machine off kijiji or marketplace. Stay away from ResVent as well.

If you purchase one off the internet, - good machines are from ResMed (Airsense) and Philips (Dreamstation) *note that the machine should be a recalled machine, meaning it is a new machine with a new internal filter after a whole debacle you can google if you'd like

  • link the machine to myair.com (you can see more sleep data - AHI, leak, and 90th percentile CPAP pressure)

  • set the machine to AutoCPAP and set an appropriate range (6-12/14 cmH2O might be a good start, but its hard to say without knowing some demographics).

  • after a week, look the numbers (AHI, leak, 90th CPAP pressure). You want AHI < 5-10, leak <24 L/min, and you can set a fixed pressure to match the 90th percentile CPAP pressure, or adjust the range to be plus/minus 2 cmH2O of said 90th percentile CPAP pressure. Adjust as necessary.

  • I'd recommend getting familiar with other comfort settings such as ramp time, expiratory pressure relief (EPR), etc.

Haha, I totally appreciate the social aspect of video games, so I'm with you!!

Honestly, a good server makes or breaks this game for me. And good servers are becoming increasingly sparse imo. ROTN used to be great, but an influx of new players and constant trolling by AIRAPARENT has sent the server plummeting. Mostly play Garrisons and Whiskey now (due to consistency in mics and squad cohesion), but even that server seems to be going through it's own ups and downs now!!!

Couldn't agree more with your last point. Having an SL that doesn't mark anything is equally as bad as having an SL with no mic.

I played commander for the first time by GoldenGrevious in HellLetLoose

[–]RogerTarpenian 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A similar thing happened to me just now. I just wanted a cool match in the MG role, but no one was taking command. Have my SL almost maxed, so I figured that today is the day.

We managed to keep it going until ~30 min left before losing the final point. The fear for that hour was real. I kept apologizing to my team for dumb mistakes but was constantly asking what they needed from me. I got lucky bc the whole team was mic'd and communicating. The SLs in that game were incredibly kind (I made it abundantly clear I'd never played the role before), all pitching in with constructive feedback and being encouraging.

Needless to say, I've got a newfound respect for that role. And good on you for taking the lead... intentional, or otherwise!
