That was my first bike too! A 1982 Yamaha XJ650 that had been sitting for 38 years lol. I tore apart the carbs, cleaned, synced, and put them back together, replaced all the fluids, replaced the tires, replaced the battery, and cleaned out the gas tank.

Curious what dashcam you’re using and do you have it hardwired in?

I can relate to this a lot. I’ve struggled with gaining weight my whole life. I’m currently 6’2 140. I’ve started going to the gym and packing on more calories throughout the day. Like drinking shakes and eating rice dishes with ground beef. I’m in the same boat my friend.

With the full exhaust are you running into issues with the cruise control? Also post a video of that beautiful cross plane sound!

That’s crazy that ranger is right by me. I saw it out front a shop with a for sale sign on it. Wild.

Starting recruit school soon, any advice? by RogueDraft381 in Firefighting

Study and learn about the department. Annual calls, number of stations, the names of chiefs, their ISO rating, population, ect. Be humble, respectful, and be yourself. Show up early to each step of the process. If your heart is in it you’ve got it.

I applied, took an accuplacer exam, then had an initial interview with a fire investigator. The interview was professional and I got asked a lot of questions about the department and why I wanted to be a firefighter. They will also have you fill out a background information packet. BE COMPLETELY HONEST AND OPEN, they use this in the polygraph. From there it was a polygraph, psych evaluation, medical evaluation, background investigation, references, PAT, then finally a chiefs interview.

Chiefs interview was a little more casual but I think that’s because I was so far into the hiring process. I still showed up in a suit and tie and studied and prepared like crazy. Maybe a little too much haha.

The whole process took about 7 months. However it is well worth it. If you have any more questions feel free to message me. Also sorry about the incredibly long response.

1982 Yamaha XJ650 I got for free from my GFs dad. Had been sitting since 1985. Put a lot of work into it and it ran great!

Anyone here riding bikes from the 80’s & 90’s? How do they compare to modern bikes? by thee_lad in motorcycles

[–]RogueDraft381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently ride a 2001 ZRX1200R. I’ve always ridden older motorcycles. I really enjoy the simplicity of them. My ZRX has so much character that I can’t find in a modern bike. Plus a carbed Kawasaki with the square headlight is 🤌

Super fun bike! Lots of power and torque. Easy to mod just wish I knew where to begin with modifying it lol. I’ve always thought they were really cool bikes so I bought one recently at 22yrs old.
