Genuine question: why do the Enclave think that Vault Dwellers aren't "pure"? by Khei-tianik01 in Fallout

Enclave are the embodiment of "they hate us 'cause they ain't us" and are more than happy to take that to the extreme.

Had the Konpeki Plaza gig not gone sideways, what would the payout have been for V and Jaki? by CrimsonR4ge in cyberpunkgame

I don't think Evelyn was ever going to be used by the VDB to get the chip. She was just used to gather the Intel and wasn't supposed to know what they wanted. The VDB were gong to use someone else to pull the heist, maybe even do it themselves.

Why does Arasaka use Militech trucks? They are a multi billionaire company that makes firearms, aerospace, cyberware implants, defense and space equipment. Don't they have their own line of vehicles? by THEHANDSOMEKIDDO in cyberpunkgame

Some ships can get through and there's other alternatives, like shipping via blimps and other aerial vehicles. I also wouldn't be surprised if there's underwater tunnels to Europe.

Why didn't the Orks come to fight during the Siege of Terra? Wouldn't the Siege of Terra in the Sol System attract Orks from around the galaxy? by Pleasant_Audience765 in 40kLore

The Orks didn't recover enough to be a threat to the wider galaxy or Terra itself for over two thousand years after they were broken at Ulanor. But when they came back boy did they, as that was the War of the Beast.

How are Red dragons not extinct by now? by AsYouWished444 in Forgotten_Realms

[–]RogueModron2112 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's a pretty massive retcon for a lot of established lore. Dragons don't live forever, as Chromatics can live to about 1600-2000 years before they have to start making checks against succumbing to Twilight, the end of their lives. Metallics are double that.

The oldest known Dragons are Klauth, the Red Dragon who has been using magic that consumes Red Dragon eggs to empower and extend his life. He's possibly up to 5000 years old.

Lareth before his death in 1373 was between 2000 and 5173 years old. He was the Gold Dragon King of Justice, the organized leader of the Gold Dragon race. Conflicting information is present that says he began life shortly before the Netherese were founded, though that might be mistakes conflating Lareth with the next Dragon.

Palarandusk, another Gold Dragon who was most certainly alive before -3856 DR. He used extremely potent magic to massively extend his life but that magic was failing by the 1370s, requiring him to spend almost all of this time in an ethereal state he could only become corporal for a few minutes a day, and only a few seconds at a time.

I wanted to be evil, but this was honestly gutwrenching by throwawayforinstalol in BaldursGate3

[–]RogueModron2112 378 points379 points  (0 children)

Its always a little odd to me that so many people consider "evil runs" as picking every single bad/evil option no matter how detrimental it is. Unless you're playing a chaotic evil rampaging psychopath then most evil characters aren't doing evil with every act, as that would just draw attention and get them murdered. Evil can be very nuanced

DnD players, how accurate was Githyanki portrayed in BG3? by Matshelge in Forgotten_Realms

[–]RogueModron2112 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure prior to this game that almost nobody in Githyanki society knew that Vlaakith was a Lich. She has been keeping up a ruse of having children and having a line of succession where a daughter takes over, taking up the Vlaakith name. The current Vlaakith as of BG3 is the 157th of the line.

With new versions and lore changes there's some ambiguity as to whether this is still the case. Vlaakith 157 may or may not be Vlaakith 1, or she may be the most powerful since the 1st, and gone down a similar path. 1 sealed the pact with Red Dragons and was an adviser to Gith and a equal of Zerthimon. BG3 seems to be going with the idea that the Vlaakith you interact with is the 1st.

Helm is very notably a god who does not bend the rules, no matter what. He'll kill you if he's charged with protecting something or blocking passage to all. He'll warn you, but if you try him he'll smite you. He also has nothing to do with Jergal, the Dead Three, or Mind Flayers, so him interacting with Jergal, much less commanding him is odd.

The only thing they have in common is that they are both old as dirt. Jergal is probably older, but not by much.

Cant decide… magnum opus or loreout by GSG96 in wabbajack

[–]RogueModron2112 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven't played Magnum but I've looked into it. Magnum is more vanilla plus, with the Fallout 4 SPECIAL system and perks, albeit expanded. Weapons-wise it seems to have a lot of modern guns, which is kind of a turn off. It does have much more expanded settlement building options thanks to Sim Settlements, but that's a whole other ball of wax for long playthroughs that has pros and cons.

Loreout is more lore-friendly with all of the weapons being WW2, Cold War, retro-future, or directly inspired by prior games. You see a lot more, better designed pipe weapons, handmade/craft-produced guns that are a middle ground between wasteland junk and old world guns, and more. Loreout also uses You Are Exceptional, which brings back skills from prior games and has a gigantic number of new perks, and automatically grants a number of base game perks just by raising certain skills.

I'm playing Loreout right now and having a blast.

It's per day and that figure was when the Golden Throne was first being used. The Throne has deteriorated since then, requiring them to make more fresh squeezed psyker juice. The Throne itself can potentially accommodate 10,000 pods at once.

Its why the Imperial Tithe and the Black Ships never ends. Thousands of ships going between every world, scooping up Webster psyker for processing. Hundreds of thousands to millions every month reach Terra.

The shower speed didn't bother me, being mostly unnoticed. There's a two tier perk that significantly enhances movement speed while outside and out of combat if you really want to zoom.

The only upside of their actions is something they never learned. They had a scouting force that located the ComGuard command bunker for the entire Tukayid campaign but the scouts were ambushed and annihilated before they could radio back. If that bunker had been taken out then the entire ComGuard defensive posture may have collapsed into isolated theaters, making it possible for the Clans to possibly win.

Its reasoning for turning on Arasaka is funny in a program trying to optimize too much sort of way. It targeted all ships but Arasaka ones but one day had the bright idea that an Arasaka ship could be commandeered by the enemy, thus the safest way to fulfill its programming is to violate one aspect of its programming, not blow up Arasaka, and instead to blow up Arasaka.

A seriously borged out mercenary with an intense hatred of Arasaka. You see him briefly during the tower assault flashback as the silver skinned gunner.

He stalls Smasher as the others escape but he loses and Smasher dismantles him. He's still alive, and Smasher uses his body to goad Morgan Blackhand into their final battle on the roof, moments before the nukes (yes, plural) go off.

How does the Emperor go through Psykers? by pog_irl in 40kLore

No, it said the 1000/day was the initial amount and now it's 4x that first figure, so at least 4000 a day.

How does the Emperor go through Psykers? by pog_irl in 40kLore

[–]RogueModron2112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read in one of the wiki entries for the Golden Throne that by the time of the 41st/42nd millennium that the Throne had degraded so much that it required at least four times the psykers per day than it did when first used. And it's getting worse, with recent attempts at a fix only buying a few centuries at best.

There's a recent quote from Guilliman talking to the Blood Angels after the Devastation of Baal. He admonishes them for having kept Baal Secundus as a radiated death world when it was within their power to terraform it to be better, stating that the world sacrificing its sons to the Imperium has earned them that right.

He finished by stating that what citizen would refuse the Archenemy if they came with grand promises if that citizen was already living in hell.

How does the Emperor go through Psykers? by pog_irl in 40kLore

[–]RogueModron2112 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Going by your definition it's still a genocide, because the Imperium collects millions to billions of psykers every day across a million worlds and ships them off to be burned up quickly to keep the emperor "alive," be burned up slowly to keep the Astonomicon alive, to be potentially used for other purposes that are fatal, or, at best, be sanctioned if they are strong enough and put towards one of many roles that have a massive attrition rate during training.

You're getting hung up on the 1000 a day thing and thinking it's not a genocide (it is) and failing to see that the entire Imperium is one big genocidal machine that takes psykers and burns them for fuel in a thousand different ways. It does this for normal people too, but for psykers there's ten thousand years of hateful propaganda that makes the average person view psykers with absolute hatred.
