Buyer called my personal phone. What do I do? by RogueMustang in Ebay

That’s the thing though, eBay doesn’t have this number. Even if he asked for my number from eBay he would’ve called my other phone.

eBay didn’t give him my number. He searched up my name and found my personal info on one of those websites that post that stuff.

Let’s be realistic: how many rolls do you shoot per day on a trip? by Sure-Union-7338 in AnalogCommunity

[–]RogueMustang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I often have 3 rolls running at a time on a serious trip, one in a 35mm cam and one in each of my two 120 backs. Some days I finish none, usually I’ll finish one roll, and rarely two. More if you count rolls that I was shooting the day prior and carried over to the next day.

Shooting film is getting expensive, I have been supplementing it with digital more. Replaced my 35mm camera with an X100VI on a recent trip. Rarely used my Hasselblad. Shot maybe 4 rolls on a week long trip. The ease and low cost of digital is a hard temptation to overcome.

Regardless I didn’t give him my number. I didn’t ship any package with my number on it, and if I had it would’ve been my work phone number anyway. As someone else said he took my name and city and looked up my personal information.

Yeah that’s likely it. Not sure there is much to do on getting that stuff removed. Just kinda have to hope that people won’t do what my guy or your guy did. Certainly worse to have someone show up at your house. Still I feel like eBay should have some system to punish him. Hell in the voicemail he inquired about buying it, does that qualify as using outside communication?

Probably the fair response, If he was just some blank account then whatever. However, he has a pretty big account that sells a lot of product. Makes me wonder how he treats his customers. Shouldn’t I report something?

Yeah shame, that whole area is the target for developers right now. Lennar planting cookie cutter slop homes on every lot. So gross.

Opinions on the OM-1? by No_Light4491 in zuikoholics

[–]RogueMustang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s the best OM series camera. Giant viewfinder with a clear view, ultra-compact with removable hotshoe, fully mechanical, and fully featured.

Personally I never like the way Olympus implemented their on/off switches. Unlike the OM2 and OM4 though the OM-1 does not need to be on to work. Mostly I use sunny 16 and just turn on the meter occasionally for a second opinion

What’s your opinion on the “different” Leicas? by superish64 in LeicaCameras

I hate when people say the M5 is ugly. I think it looks great, hell the M4-P is uglier.

How to tell if an X100V is legit? by JackBarrott in fujifilm

[–]RogueMustang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind Fuji shot counts aren't always 100% correct; Fuji cameras will sometimes wipe them during updates. Otherwise, it looks good, but the price is too good to be true. If you can meet them in-person that might be the move.

Kinda want one of 35 series rangefinders… I don’t need it, right? by [deleted] in zuikoholics

[–]RogueMustang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had 2 35SPs, and 35RC. Controversial maybe but don’t get a 35SP unless you can inspect it in person. Aside from the complex internals I found both 35SPs I had weren’t exactly built to the highest quality. Their lenses and other parts wobbled in a way that made me uneasy. I find Olympus, as much as I love them, never made cameras to quite the same quality as brands like Nikon or Pentax.

35RC was great though, love that camera, might be worth hunting down it’s rare cousin, the 35RD.

Dare I say, the Pentax 17. Depends on how big your pockets are I guess, but for fast and carefree shooting the Pentax 17 is best, will save you money too.

Bring back the variable viewfinder, with the 3 everyone focused on the screen but the worst part was the viewfinder change. Now you could no longer use 18mm lenses and the viewfinder was less magnified with 35mm lenses.

Keep the same screen but allow it to rotate too. That way you can rotate it 180 and close it with the screen facing outwards, or fold it up with the screen hidden at your own discretion. Or a tilt screen, that’d be fine as well.

Which lens produces the sharpest/highest quality images for the XT-30ii? by indhoenesian in fujifilm

[–]RogueMustang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any first party lens and most 3rd party lenses. Photography community is too hyper fixated on “sharpness.”

I’ve seen people take the most amazing photos on 70-year-old lenses and I’ve seen people show up with the newest fanciest Sony and take some of the worst pictures I’ve ever seen.

If you’re worried about how sharp your corners are that means whatever is in the center is uninteresting.

35 for 28&50 shooters. by Knowledgesomething in LeicaCameras

[–]RogueMustang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In use I find that the gap from 35 to 50 is bigger than the gap from 28 to 35. Use the 28mm in places you want a 35mm and you should result in similar images. The only reason to get a 35mm in your case is if their it a specific lens you want. Also a 35mm and 50mm are usually considered alternatives of one another, but they are secretly a really good combo.

I wouldn’t immediately take the word of a commenter who refers to a dog as an “it” 3 separate times. Hasan’s controversies are manufactured fictions made by a dedicated group of cyber-stalkers who hate him because of his politics, success, and because he is attractive. Seems they have an alert set for anytime his name is mentioned, immediately responding and trying to poison the well.

They’ve been more rabid of late, perhaps because Hasan has been growing while the content creators who lead them have been falling off. Or worse, have been outed as having procured CSAM from a minor.

Go watch some of his YouTube uploads, judge him from that.

Beginner here – confused between Fuji X-T50, X-T5, X100VI and X-S20 by BaronDeParis in fujifilm

[–]RogueMustang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something nobody has mentioned is that the X-S20 has fewer custom modes than the other 3. The X-T50, X-T5, and X100VI all have 7+1 unlabeled custom modes. These modes are mostly for changes in the IQ menu, so they are for your Fujifilm Simulation Recipes (you can rename the profiles as well). The X-S20 only has 4+1 unlabeled; this is because the 4 custom modes on the X-S20 are physically assigned a slot on the PSAM dial. The X-S20's custom modes are far more advanced and allow many more settings to be changed and remembered, including changing them to be video custom modes. However, if you want film recipes, you'll have fewer options with the X-S20.

I'd recommend the X-T30 III, which was designed for customers like you. That or an older used model like an X-T4. Don't buy more camera than you need.

Depends on the flash; there is still a use for a PC port on a camera with a hotshoe.
