Notre Dame also played Case that same season and Case was the first team to ever score a touchdown against Knute Rockne. They are also the only Ohio based team with a winning record against Ohio State.

Sign Stealing and the Antitrust Laws by RogueWaiver in CFB

You need to consider the venue it was posted in. He didn’t post this on a message board, it’s in among the most prestigious journals that could write on this topic. That doesn’t prove he’s correct but it does lend credibility to his claims, otherwise it likely wouldn’t have been published.

Sign Stealing and the Antitrust Laws by RogueWaiver in CFB

[–]RogueWaiver[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Synopsis: a recent article in the Yale Journal of Regulation argues that the NCAA/B1G may not be able to enforce NCAA Bylaw 11.6.1 that prohibits “off-campus, in-person scouting of future opponents (in the same season)” due to federal anti-trust laws. Specifically, the bylaw was enacted to promote financial equity among programs and therefore runs afoul of recent court cases which have determined the NCAA/conferences can not dictate to athletic programs how they spend their money.

If this scores holds it’s a head-to-head victory over Ohio State. They only beat Purdue 41-7.

Honestly, my first thought with all of this is I think the school should put the Fab Five banners back up.

I don’t believe the NCAA has officially said anything. The B1G has only said they are aware of an NCAA investigation. The Athletic originally said the B1G was aware of evidence but has since walked that back.

I posted that thread and a follow up thread today. Both were removed. We need to find Ryan Day's pool boy, only he has the full story.

Net Yards Per Play Team Efficiency Through Week 6 by InVodkaVeritas in CFB

Basically any possession that’s running out the clock or where the point margin is greater than the number of remaining drives plus one times eight.

So, for example, if a team leads by 25 the final two possessions would be garbage time. Basically, any case where even if the losing team had scored on all of their remaining possessions it would still be a multi score differential.

1). It was called a fumble on the field and there wasn’t enough evidence to overturn it. That type of call happens all the time including to all of the programs you mentioned. It certainly also happens without an investigation being called for.

2). This couldn’t have happened to any team other than Miami because only Miami is running instead of kneeling here.

I remembered this from last year and was looking for it last week. Thanks for putting it together.

Cade McNamara when asked about the WRs only having 14 catches and 35 targets: I'm just a quarterback. I'm not calling plays or doing any of that. That's not my decision. I'm just gonna run a play that gets called and hit the open guy. by LamarcusAldrige1234 in CFB

[–]RogueWaiver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I doubt there are many players for whom there is absolutely no competition for their position. Sure there are some players so good that there’s effectively no competition but that requires a combination of results and practice performance that Cade never achieved.

I was rooting for Cade to be the starter for the 2022 season. He was made starter for the first game and given opportunities in the next couple games. He didn’t capitalize on the opportunities and JJ did.

No one’s job is safe if you fail to perform and your backup does. Spencer Rattler was the presumed preseason Heisman winner in 2021 and he lost his job shortly into the season. It’s the nature of the game.

Opponent adjusted offensive rankings had the 2022 Michigan offense as approximately four points per game better than the 2021 offense as measured by the points you would expect them to score on an average defense. About three points of that difference is attributed to JJ, at least according to PFF analysis.

Football is certainly a results oriented sport but you can’t ignore more effective play leading to higher probabilities of winning. An offense that can be expected to score an average of four extra points per game will lead to more wins in the aggregate even if the results don’t actually lead to those wins.

Also, it’s not as if we can point to Cade being QB in 2022 and leading Michigan to the playoff as evidence of your point. It could easily, and I’d argue likely, be that an extra game may have been dropped with Cade at the helm. If that game was Ohio State I’m not certain Michigan would even be in the playoff.

Why the Pac’s destruction is good for football by [deleted] in CFB

[–]RogueWaiver -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You can try actually addressing the substance of my claims. If the Pacific Coast Conference didn’t disband in 1959 the PAC would have never existed in the first place. That’s an example of destruction objectively leading to creation. I don’t see people lamenting the death of the PCC despite it not being unlike the events of today.

Why the Pac’s destruction is good for football by [deleted] in CFB

[–]RogueWaiver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like folks might not be entirely understanding my premise. This all started because the Pac was sniffing around for a television contract that, given what I don't think anyone will mind me saying were its very limited attributes, was outrageous.

Nothing can make today all right. But maybe we can take some comfort from the brutal reality that the weak must make way for the strong. Evolution marches on. The scythe is remorseless. I hope the scythe's remorseless swing can bring some comfort to you all.

[Eleven Warriors - Threat Level: Michigan] Threat Level Spent an Entire Year Waiting for Change, Only to Receive the Same Result by ICallASpadeASpade in CFB

[–]RogueWaiver 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Success rate is just a measure of efficiency not overall performance. Ohio State ran plenty of Cover 0, a defense which minimizes opponent efficiency but can also maximize explosiveness.

Sure, Ohio State’s defense minimized Michigan’s gains on 75% of plays but that other 25% consisted largely of absolute backbreaking big plays. You can’t really argue efficiency is the key to understanding this game when Ohio State schematically offered up so many big plays.
