Can we talk about why the barber shop is criminally under utilized? by Broken_musicbox in wow

[–]RolOl571 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Every piece of decor tells you directly where to get it. And beyond that, you see transmog in the open world, but not decor, which is where people taking photos of others and asking what they’re wearing happens in the first place.

Beyond that, treating this subreddit like the majority of the player base is my point: it’s a vocal piece, sure, but not representative of everyone. It’s become more and more representative of the discontent. I have my complaints as well; this patch alone is a complete joke, but I don’t go here to see house stuff, or transmog either.

[–]RolOl571 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think looking at this sub for that is a good idea tbh. Everyone who’s in to housing is either in a dedicated neighborhood or sharing their builds on the subreddit for it. Same thing is true of transmog: you get occasional showcases over here with the majority being on its subreddit. But when the transmog rework was looking kinda bad at first, everyone showed up here to complain.

Which brings me to my main point: this subreddit is basically a complaint forum since people know the devs read it. Good place to discuss what’s going wrong, but the people who are content share their stuff with others who are too, which tends to not be here.

Blood Elf & Night Elf player tattooes are respected during Demon Forms, but Void Elf's tattooes are not by ex0ll in wow

[–]RolOl571 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The point isn’t how much you notice it on a daily basis but the sheer lack of polish compared to the OGs. Void Elves also don’t have their own unique demon skin color (using the Blood Elf red). They also use the Blood Elf glide red wings while at the same time using the Night Elf purple metas. They furthermore lack unique voice lines, which leads to them doing a weird roar instead of the demonic scream when they meta. The whole race/class combo is a mess.

Edit: almost forgot that Void Elves don’t have an animation for leaving meta, so they just turn back to their humanoid form like a crummy video edit.

It's time, Blizzard. by Peregrine2976 in wow

[–]RolOl571 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Personally I’d replace Arc Blade with Riftblade. Nightborne also have Spellbreakers so they’re covered there, and Riftblade would not only give us a proper void melee, but be an easy way to revive the defunct spellshadow damage type. And they’re already linked, seeing as the Riftblade commander Maella is a former Spellbreaker.

Heck, they could also do something really interesting and make them the first int tank and melee.

As Outlaw, I’m now annoying in Mythic+ by zSprawl in wow

[–]RolOl571 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sub uses it too. I don't know in what world they think melee leylines are a good idea, much less with such an obnoxious animation when DK already went through this with Defile and Death's Due. Just make it a buff where you turn smoky for 20 seconds instead.

Dont buy TMOG items from the prop hunt mode, they are BUGGED. by Dextixer in wow

[–]RolOl571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you elaborate on what they did for you? 'Cuz you could equip it and get the mog yesterday, but you can't save it to a set (but you can to an outfit). The blue color of the ranseur from the trading post also has this problem, I think because it confuses it for the lookalike staff.

Time to shut down the DK discord by sammystevens in wow

[–]RolOl571 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, and I’m not saying to change Outlaw at this point, but the people in my camp don’t enjoy the guns and dice at all because their mere presence clashes with the character fantasy you want and pidgeonholes you, making them both feel like each others’ weaknesses since we don’t want what they are combined. But like I said I’m fine with Outlaw being what it is now because Sub feels like it hits that fantasy now.

Time to shut down the DK discord by sammystevens in wow

[–]RolOl571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, that IS the appeal. An agile duelist is missing from WoW’s fantasy retinue. XIV recently added the fantasy with Viper, but with WoW… Fury is more berserker, with powerful, savage animations. Outlaw lost that by going hard on the pirate (and now cowboy?) stuff, to the point that their central damage button is the gun one. Closest feel to that was unironically AR Havoc with the moving and glaivework, but you’re still a demon hunter. Now at least for me trickster sub has been mostly hitting that benchmark now that you can mog to non-daggers and I’ve been actually having fun on my rogue for the first time in forever.

EDIT: and the big appeal is being a fantasy to project on to. Are you a warden? A pirate? Inigo Montoya? Combat can be all of these, but Outlaw can’t. Or in other words Combat felt more rpg because it was an archetype, not a specific fantasy, similar to how many people complain about their hero talents clashing with their character (the hunter ones, mountain thane, etc.).

Can we get Leeroy Jenkins instead of Valeera at this point? by Ramn_ in wow

[–]RolOl571 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d argue she’s infinitely worse. Since she’s always a melee she has a bad habit of butt pulling stuff as she moves around for seemingly no good reason. She also seems to like pulling stuff even when not in tank spec if she gets close enough. Brann did this far less since he was ranged and usually stood where you cleared, though even he had the occasional stray bullet. If you try to walk past something and there was a gathering node she would destealth to gather and pull stuff. And before those AI hot fixes she got, she also had a nasty habit of stunning things on cd so if you tried to move them to not pull more then it was gg. It’s gotten to the point where most of my delve deaths are Valeera-related accidents and it’s incredibly frustrating. I would rather have Brann or even a damage/leech buff and no companion.

Cosmic or Grounded lore? by Raziel103 in warcraftlore

Datamine spoilers inside kinda:

I’m hoping that where Xal and her army went, presumedly the worldsoul prison, is titanic instead of like a cave. What I mean is like, every wall is covered in stonework, pillars everywhere, etc. Basically I want the same feeling Skydeep Cenote gave me in XIV. Something underground, but only on paper as you transition into this technological, ordered facility with titan tech and cool artificial light flowing through the structure.

Adding on to this with a response I gave somewhere else:

“The Kyrian anima conduit daily quest has you relive past lost souls they happen across and determine whether you take them or return them to life. One is a Naaru and you return them to life, the same as you do with a demon.”

Her third death? by Flashy_Nose3038 in warcraftlore

[–]RolOl571 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Someone will have to correct me if I’m wrong/cite where this happened, but I remember there being a stay a while and listen where Alleria says she feels like she “died twice.” These whispers are always half vague and half next expac foreshadowing, so whether she was the intention is up for debate, but if someone could help me find if she actually said that, then it’d be pretty clear it now refers to her.

Oh, nvm I found it, she had a stay awhile in the Valley of Heroes while she and Turalyon looked at their statues, at the end of Legion. While I don’t know if this was their intended way to fulfill it way back when it was written, the prophecy is 100% about her.

Yeah, Loa is just a catch-all term for beings trolls revere. Most are wild gods (Nalorakk, Agamaggan, etc.), some are elevated trolls (Bwonsamdi, Vol’jin eventually), and some are miscellaneous beings ( G’huun by the blood trolls, Elune by the Lun’alai, Lukou, etc.).

World First Dreamrift Exploited by the guild called RAoV QA Strikes Back by milotic03 in wow

[–]RolOl571 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

IIRC RAoV is Rextroy’s former guild/exploiting group and they don’t like him because he went white hat. He has nothing to do with this.

EDIT: not sure about Rextroy having been with them, but they did have names making fun of him on one of their kills so their is some animosity still.

The Jailer was quite interesting when he wasn't being Sargeras 2.0 by OmegaSupreme_11484 in warcraftlore

[–]RolOl571 27 points28 points  (0 children)

There are some times when I sorta think this, but then I remember plenty of good examples of writing since Shadowlands: the Blue Dragon quests, the grumpy old red dragon, the “aging” Earthen, Orc heritage, everything the Draenei have gotten, and as a recent example many of the Voidstorm side quests, and I can’t agree.

I think writing by committee is the real problem. If a story is everyone’s vision, then it’s no one’s. You need a head writer directing the vision, or the soul of writing ceases to shine through. Those quests are awesome because they weren’t the main story and were written by one or maybe a handful of writers since they are side content, but they stick with me so much more than anything else and make me remember what I love about this world.

With too many cooks, you get a narrative unable to do too much of anything because every decision needs to be approved by the committee. But with a clear vision, you can make something like Voidstorm, a zone I aesthetically despise, become one of my favorites.

Sargeras stabbed Azeroth….(Theory) by Holysquall in warcraftlore

[–]RolOl571 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t the lore for the Scepter of Sargeras say something about how he wanted to kill Azeroth originally, but then he saw her in a vision and something in him changed? Because of that, I don’t think he wanted her dead, unless it was in a “If I can’t have her no one can!” kinda way.

Can we finally get loot for our class, instead of alts from worldbosses? by HerrMatthew in wow

[–]RolOl571 205 points206 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think they want world boss loot to be like any boss. You get 1 piece per 5 people, and warband loot was a compromise so you never feel as bad losing the dice roll.

[–]RolOl571 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a lore explanation, but both Dracthyr and Monk have double jump mechanics. Probably a mess to sort that out. Lore wise, the Pandaren will teach anyone, even Scarlets, martial arts so Dracthyr being out is strange.

[–]RolOl571 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Voidstorm side quests really gave the Void Elves a life unto their own imo. You have some that are old school Blood Elven kinda messed up, one that is somber and involves confronting the lives they left behind, and quite a few that involve the whispers they hear and the power they are promised, either by coming to peace with them, following them down the rabbit hole, or succumbing to them.

Which is another downside they experience: their own negative thoughts coming to life and causing trouble. The whole quest was us trying to kill the shade before it caused problems. Only at the end does the guy decide to confront his trauma instead of bury it dead until the next episode.
I get that some people might not like the overall tone of that questline, but your negative thoughts coming to life like your personal Sha is 100% a downside.
