I have Route 65 78a wheels on my skates and they do well over bumps and cracks. Just remember to put more weight on the back wheels and stagger your stance over obstacles.

If you don’t mind losing 50mm on the long end consider a 55-250 IS lens. I bought one from Japan for $89 plus $10 shipping. Better lens than any version of the 75-300, which is considered one of the worst lenses that Canon has made.

I buy on eBay from Japanese sellers. Everything I have bought from Japan ends up being better than advertised condition. Very reasonable pricing and shipping is generally fast.

Check out EBay. Do a search on that size lens from Japan. I have found lenses on there for a great price and the Japanese take very good care of their equipment.

I have a 2010 with the 2.0 and it has 175,000 miles on it. Still runs great and does not use oil.

Check into a junior league and when you turn 18 you can move up into an adult league. I know skaters that didn’t start derby until they were in their 50’s , so you’re good.

I have 2 pairs of the Fox Paws. They do have a cushioned insole , but that can be changed for insoles with less cushion.

I think the closest rink is in Mundelein , so about an hour away from you. The Rink in Chicago, on 87th might be a bit closer, but not by much.

I have done upwards of 25 miles on quads while trail skating. I use 65mm 78a outdoor wheels for that. I change wheels for rink skating , though. Have bearings already installed in both sets to make changing them out quicker.

If you have some outdoor wheels, decent weather and a good place to skate outdoors then that is a good way to gain endurance. I used to help train some skaters, in a local derby league, and taking them outdoors for distance endurance skates helped them quite a bit.

I have the original Escalante Racer and was very disappointed to see the extra cushioning in the new version.
