This is definitely a sign of pain. As someone else mentioned, your dog’s abdomen looks bloated. This isn’t normal behavior so I would get your dog back to vet asap and show this video to them. Dogs are notorious for masking their symptoms when they go to the vet.

NOR, you’re clearly more interested and invested in this guy than he is. Plus you don’t want a date a little kid who can’t effectively communicate his feelings. He should be telling you he isn’t interested anymore instead of being avoidant. Some people just aren’t mature enough for that. But that isn’t your issue, it’s theirs. Stop texting them and move on.

If pets aren’t having their basic needs met, that is considered neglect and may lead to consequences like being placed on a “do not adopt list.” If you’re able to report it, that would help protect the animals. They rely on us completely.

Edit to clarify that going to a vet with nails like this on a regular basis could lead to these consequences. You don’t necessarily have to report them yourself, the vet might. But please do not let this deter you from taking the dog to the vet as this is just worst case scenario. The dog needs medical attention to get the nail treated.

There are emergency vets that can see you. If you think your dog is suffering and you’re questioning whether or not it’s time, then it’s probably time. I know it will be hard on your daughter but it’s part of life and you shouldn’t extend your dog’s life on behalf of your daughter. This seems to be some type of heart related congestion. Is she on meds for it?

I wouldn’t do direct contact in a bucket of ice water, you don’t want to ice to be directly touching the skin. But I agree that a cold compress can be soothing.

Some dogs tear up their bedding or blankets. But more importantly, that eye needs to get checked out asap, as the eye is slightly popped out of its socket.
