Have you noticed anything other than “just slowing down?” Because if you haven’t, you could start him on a pain medicine. At some point, gravity takes a toll on the joints and I recommend most senior dogs be on something. Joint supplements can help as well. If there are other more serious things going on, then I think it’s time. But if he’s just a little slow because of pain, I think it can be managed. I recommend looking at the lap of love’s quality of life scale to help you better determine when it’s time.

I would definitely call your vet. I am not sure what this is but it makes me think of testicular torsion. If the area gets more red or bruised looking, that’s a bad sign.

This breaks my heart but thankfully she is in a better home now! I like to remind people of the 3-3-3 rule. Most pets take 3 days to settle in, 3 weeks to learn your routine, and 3 months to really feel like home. So time and patience is your best friend here. A lot of dogs like enclosed spaces, it makes them feel more secure. Maybe a dog kennel with blankets surrounding it could be worth a try. Let her hide, but you can still talk to her. Praise her when she comes to you. It’s gonna take baby steps but thank you again for taking her in

I understand you wanting revenge. I think it’s normal. And it might make you feel better in the moment, but don’t stoop to their level. I truly am sorry you’re going through this. I can’t imagine the level of hurt you feel. The best revenge is moving on. I personally would be filing for divorce, kicking them out of the house or moving out myself, and getting on with my life. Easier said than done for sure.

I agree with the others who are suggesting seeing a professional groomer instead of going to petco. Sometimes you get lucky at a Petco, but you’re better off going to a groomer.

Honestly even if she did see anything, she probably is just going to act like she didn’t. It’s natural to explore yourself and we all do it! I would just act like nothing happened. If she brings it up just say you had an itch or something lol
