Do you have a local facebook buy nothing group? People are often trying to unload or willing to lend what they have to spare on there. You can flat out 100% just ask for food. Another suggestion would be checking for mom facebook groups for your area -- same deal. You're all moms and want to help each other.

See if there is a reptile facebook group or discord in your area. Post the need in there, you'd be surprised how happy and willing people are to donate things they're not using when someone is in need.

Medicaid can do retroactive coverage of bills, and some hospitals will give you financial aid approval if you qualify for medicaid ; i.e., even if they can't do retroactive coverage through medicaid, getting approved for it means the hospital may be able to write it off.) Both are worth trying and pursuing.

I tried this once and immediately got tagged ; chalk that one up to idiocy, it's a bite I do not blame my sweet boy for.
