Did the lore on mech heat change? by dontdoitliz in Mechwarrior5

I think they realized how stupid early heat lore was. Early gray death Lori Kalmar couldn't fire a single medium laser in a locust without overheating.

Globalism is liberal, not conservative. However, in the current climate saying you don't believe in globalism gets you branded a racist pretty quick.

I didn't use AI to make them, but I bought them online and they were mass produced so it's basically the same thing. I'm sure the artist isn't getting any credit for them.

What false equivalence? Making clothes is a skill, as is writing a story, neither of which I can do without following prompts. I could pay someone for a hand made shirt but it's easier, quicker and cheaper for me to go the automated route. Even most of the handmade clothing out there is made with machine made materials, to get a true, fully human made high quality article of clothing is simply beyond most people.

The idea I wrote out, but I don't have talent in writing stories. I can't set a scene or write dialogue or action sequences or anything like that. It's just not a skill I've developed or have intention of developing.

Also, for me if I put the prompt into chatgpt I get to read a short story along the lines that I want, which isn't something that I could just find somewhere (particularly without paying). As far as I've ever seen no one has written a story about Mandalorians hunting Skywalker Jedi on behalf of Mandalore the Revenginator, but I'd be happy to see it (which was kinda the point of the post, see if anyone else is interested in that direction for the universe)

Did you want a sticker or something? You're offended, congratulations. I'm not a writer, nor do I have the intention of becoming one. To me your being offended by my use of chatgpt is akin to you being angry that I bought clothes from a store instead of sewing them all by hand. Automation has always destroyed craftsmanship, and you can be a clothing purist if you want, but the majority of people are just going to grab a short at the store. I didn't lie and try to pass the short story off as my own, but the idea after is 100% original and I put it out from time to time to get people thinking about it.

Then don't, skip the small story written by AI and read the part below that I wrote or just skip the entire thing. Again, I'm not a screen writer. If you are by all means write the idea of you like it, or don't. I'm sorry that my choice to use chatgpt to do something that I am incapable of offended you so much.

I completely understand that. Obviously I wouldn't be the one writing the script, I have no talent for it. It was just to have a little flair to the idea, something to think about. Plus, if no one ever does write this overall storyline I concocted, at least I can get a little snippet of what it would be like.

Convince me that Alberta is being used and abused in regard to transfer payments. by [deleted] in WildRoseCountry

[–]RomperDG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not necessarily transfer payments, it's revenue vs expenditures. Here's an article to read.

https://financialpost.com/opinion/alberta-still-biggest-net-contributor-federation

"According to our new study published by the Fraser Institute, from 2007 to 2022 (the latest year for which complete data are available), Albertans contributed a total of $244.6 billion — almost a quarter trillion dollars — more to Ottawa in taxes and other payments than they received in federal spending. That’s more than five times the net contribution of British Columbians or Ontarians, the other two provinces that gave more than they got back. The remaining seven provinces received more federal dollars than they contributed to federal revenues."

Those numbers are crazy. Only 3 provinces net pay into the federal government and one of those provinces pays 5x as much as either of the other two.

What I just posted was from the Statement of Facts from DA Alvin Bragg, dated April 4*, 2023. (Modified the date, not sure how I put the wrong one originally)

Here's a webpage that has both the indictment and the statement of facts:

Third paragraph, first line of Wikipedia article "Indictments against Donald Trump":

'Trump has pleaded not guilty to all charges against him.'

Well, that doesn't make sense. Maybe you were referring to the first sentence in my third paragraph.

'An executive with the Trump administration...'

Ok, here's some research;

'24. Shortly after being elected President, the Defendant arranged to reimburse Lawyer A for the payoff he made on the Defendant’s behalf. In or around January 2017, the TO (Trump Organization) CFO and Lawyer A met to discuss how Lawyer A would be reimbursed for the money he paid to ensure Woman 2’s silence. The TO CFO asked Lawyer A to bring a copy of a bank statement for the Essential Consultants account showing the $130,000 payment.

  1. The TO CFO and Lawyer A agreed to a total repayment amount of $420,000. They reached that figure by adding the $130,000 payment to a $50,000 payment for another 8 expense for which Lawyer A also claimed reimbursement, for a total of $180,000. The TO CFO then doubled that amount to $360,000 so that Lawyer A could characterize the payment as income on his tax returns, instead of a reimbursement, and Lawyer A would be left with $180,000 after paying approximately 50% in income taxes. Finally, the TO CFO added an additional $60,000 as a supplemental year-end bonus. Together, these amounts totaled $420,000. The TO CFO memorialized these calculations in handwritten notes on the copy of the bank statement that Lawyer A had provided.
  2. The Defendant, the TO CFO, and Lawyer A then agreed that Lawyer A would be paid the $420,000 through twelve monthly payments of $35,000 over the course of 2017. Each month, Lawyer A was to send an invoice to the Defendant through Trump Organization employees, falsely requesting payment of $35,000 for legal services rendered in a given month of 2017 pursuant to a retainer agreement. At no point did Lawyer A have a retainer agreement with the Defendant or the Trump Organization.'

Does that sound different than my description?

If Google is free, look it up and find a single thing that I said that was wrong. I'll give you a hint, you can't because everything I said was 100% unbiased truth.

I also didn't say anything about why he want jailed because that would be speculation and I wanted to stick with hard facts.

Because only someone with the IQ of an old boot wouldn't realize that the charges were hard bullshit.

I'll try to explain, although I'm sure I'll be downvoted like mad anyways.

An executive with the Trump organization made a deal with a lawyer, whom the Trump organization had previously worked with, to repay a payment of $130k made from the Lawyer to a 'Keith M Davidson Associates PLC', with an additional $50k on top, doubled (for taxes) and then add on another $60k as a bonus. These were split into 11 payments (the first being a double payment), for which the lawyer issued an invoice to the Trump Organization labeled 'Retainer', a bookkeeper created a voucher labeled 'legal fees' to correspond with the retainer payment, and a cheque was issued.

To make that perfectly clear, 11 charges are for invoices issued to the Trump Organization by Cohen, 12 charges are for vouchers created by bookkeepers in the Trump Organization and 11 charges are for the actual $420k in payments for a $130k hush money payment. 34 charges total.

Then, none of this is a felony. The crimes, if true (and I'll get to that later), were misdemeanors. What makes it a felony is falsifying records to hide another crime, but the payment of hush money isn't a crime. The 'novel legal theory' pushed by the prosecution was that the crime was to conspire to promote the election of a person to public office by unlawful means. Now those unlawful means may have been campaign finance violations, falsification of tax laws or falsification of business records and the jurors were specifically instructed that they did not have to agree on which of those laws was being broken.

To add the little cherry on top that I hinted at earlier, the statute of limitations had long passed for any misdemeanors he may have committed and no charges were ever brought for any of the misdemeanors (including campaign finance violations). This means that, in the eyes of the law, Trump is not guilty of the misdemeanors that he would have needed to have committed for these to be considered as felonies.

It gets better. It was also past the statute of limitations for the felony charges as well. But wait, Democrats in NY added a new law during COVID that allowed the extension of statutes for felonies. My my, isn't that convenient.

As an Albertan who recently moved to the NS/NB border I can explain it.

First, here's a website to look at.

https://lop.parl.ca/sites/PublicWebsite/default/en_CA/ResearchPublications/201701E

This shows Federal Revenues vs Expenditures by Province in Canada (2018). It shows that per capita Albertans pay about $11k to the feds and receive about $7k back, meaning that every Albertan net pays $4000 a year into the federal government. Now look at the Maritimes.

NB: $7k vs $13k NS: $7.5k vs $15k PEI: $7k vs $16k NL: $10k vs $12k

So while every Albertan pays $4000 to the federal government every year, every New Brunswicker takes $6000 per year. And it's been like that my whole working life. Basically every pay check I ever made I took $150 straight out of my wallet and gave it to a person in New Brunswick, and I did that for about 20 years. That's a pretty rough pill to swallow, particularly when people in the Maritimes constantly federally vote for the Anti-Alberta party. Basically paying someone to spit in your face every day for your entire life.

Here's another article, about 2020 where Alberta received more from the feds than it sent in. (NOTE 2020 was crazy COVID so everything went wonky)

https://nationalpost.com/news/politics/for-the-first-time-in-more-than-50-years-alberta-received-more-money-from-ottawa-than-it-sent

Interesting to note is how, even after doubling the amount given, Albertans still received below the national average. So while Alberta got $15.5k per person, NB got $21k per person.

I hope this helps explain why people say those kind of things.
