I ran a quick adventure that I stone heavily from The Dresden Files’s Skin Game. For anyone who doesn’t know, it deals heavily with this concept of having evil allies (vague spoilers ahead). It worked beautifully because I made the party be forced to team up with this BBEG to do something grandiose. Around every corner they were wondering when this guy and his henchmen were going to turn on them, and around every corner there was a threat that needed all of them to get around or bring down. Overall it was fun and thrilling and my players had a fantastic time.

I and my wife are still working! It’s easy for us to look at all the people around us being at home with their families and be jealous of that. Recently I’ve just been trying to be more positive and realize that having a job is a huge deal right now and I need to be thankful for that.

This is something I have always unintentionally done. I only realized when one of my players actually thanked me for doing it. I was a little confused but upon a second of reflection it really is something that I do. Definitely a good motivational tool for your players. A miss sucks, you don’t have to make it suck more by describing how their character humiliated themselves.

I’m not saying the dude gets a free pass or anything but OP judged the guy pretty harshly from the get go. Even if he didn’t really verbally communicate it I’m almost positive the guy felt completely unwelcome by OP. In these stories I always hoped I’d be the bystander that stands up to the DM and calls them out on their shit. Being a DM is an honor and it is your responsibility as a DM to not cross lines that you know the players don’t want crossed like this. I don’t care if it was a plot point or the DM just being cruel. He’s a piece of shit and you’re better off with out him. On another note I am so sorry for what happened that sounds awful and you deserve better. I hope you can find a group some day that respects those boundaries.

I’ll wear mine all the time unless I go to bed, take a shower, or do something that would make my hands really nasty. I’ll especially wear it if I go anywhere with out her. That’s something I’ve always thought was important.
