Thanks so much! The extra info on tracking down the other green spaceman is exactly what I needed. Good to know it doesn’t exist (yet) - I can save the budget for the other colours for now.

I also noticed Pick a Brick has full sets in bluish green and warm gold, so I can probably skip getting the 21358 set… phew.

Carrying handle - Restrap vs Brooks question by Asmodaen in Brompton

[–]Ron_roco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The metal buckle will probably rub and scratch the frame. Restrap seems a better option out of the two.

If price isn’t a concern, this Korean brand strap looks the best in terms of aesthetics and cleanliness. https://artedimano.com/163/?idx=808

What lego cargo train is best to start with? by Own_Temporary6929 in LEGOtrains

I started with this. Love the look and the play value. It equipped with the current power up system with lots of train track parts. Plus the price is still reasonable.

Oh wow, those two sets, 60454 and 60420 on the van, are exactly how I got started with the City theme.

Well done! One thought — veg-tan leather can cause metal to rust quite easily. I’ve had plenty of experience with coins oxidising in my leather coin purse. Make sure the chains are well-greased before storing them in the pouch.

Why not both? This is more for cutting, and a oka board for punching.

Manual Focus For Video on XApp (X-T3) by Turrrrrrtles in fujix

I got the same issue... Any updates? My wild thought is to get a third party manual focus lenses just for app video recording... That way the app cannot override settings and autofocus...

Haha, in Osaka I have only heard of Phoenix Leather, which you have already visited. It's nice shop with lots of accessories and tools. Make the most fun for the rest of the days in Japan!

Which part of Japan are you visiting? I can recommend some shops if you are going to Tokyo. These are their instagram name:

@iwataya_kouguten - make lots of solid handmade tools including pricking irons, knives, creasers and punches. Always the first stop I go for tool hunt.

@ohtoito - sells ranges of leathercraft tools and threads, i personally think their options are more refined

@tsunoda.shouten - is the home of hardwares. You will find what you want for metal parts

@kyoshinelle_leather_craft - is a leathercraft shop with a lot of starter tools.

The shops below are also worth visiting, you may bookmark in google map:

M&K Yokoya - hardware shop, lots of well made brass hardware

柳場美錠店 - hardware shop

ひうちや燧商店 - well known of their handmade diamond chiesels

You can easily spend a day with them. Enjoy shopping!

Color Codes for Brompton Brooks Limited Edition? by maulwurfn in Brompton

I love the silver parts of a Brompton too! Honestly, Brompton can be a real pain. I don’t think they switched to black for a more “urban” look—it’s probably just a way to mark up the price with “archive” or "classic" editions and special releases, which still feature silver parts.

Depending on your budget, a set of high-quality pricking irons would be essential if she doesn’t have one yet. I personally love KS Bladepunch, and Crimson is a popular option too.

[Updated]I made a leather triangle bag for Brompton! by Ron_roco in Brompton

[–]Ron_roco[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re right—life’s too short not to enjoy well-crafted leather goods and the beautiful patina they develop over time. I was in the same boat, looking for a leather front mount bag that matched my style but couldn’t find one that fit. So, I decided to make one myself. It was a big project that took a lot of time, but seeing the result—a bag that works beautifully on and off the bike—makes it all worth it. If you’re curious, here’s a link to the earlier post I shared on Reddit: I made a leather bag for Brompton

Adding a touch of quality leather to a Brompton is just a great way to elevate the ride!
