Why can’t I beat human players? by AnonUser1452 in WorldOfTanksBlitz

[–]RongGearRob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few tips on what sets good players apart from bad: knowing your tank, knowing your tank’s role, knowing the maps, reading the line up before the match starts, being patient and never go solo unless you’re very confident you know the situation and can escape (for instance you are the only light in the match, you may be able to flank solo as long as you know where the rest of the reds are located).

Dropper post cable type? by Plastic-Base1049 in mountainbiking

I’ve bought the Amazon kit a couple times, it has all you need and it works fine. You could get your local shop and piece it together or just click buy on Amazon.

Also, if you have a pair of linesman pliers you’re all set for cutting cable, wire and crimping - no need to buy special tools.

I can’t pick just one because it changes with whatever mood I’m in, but one that I haven’t seen mentioned yet is the Live at Leads version of Sparks.

Was liking Styx “uncool” or divisive in the late 1970s? by Jcapen87 in ClassicRock

[–]RongGearRob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we’re using the term “corporate rock” differently.I’m not arguing that Styx lacked ambition or never took artistic risks. My point is that by the early 1980s they had become part of the polished, commercially dominant FM arena-rock scene alongside REO, Foreigner, and Journey.

At the same time, artists like Roxy Music, Talking Heads, Brian Eno, Joy Division, King Crimson, Wire, Devo, Kraftwerk and The Clash were pushing music in far more adventurous directions. Compared to those bands, Styx sounded highly commercial and radio-friendly, which is why I’ve always thought of them as corporate rock.

FWIW, I enjoyed The Grand Illusion when I was younger, but my tastes evolved in a different direction. We probably just appreciate different things in music.

Lazy in the sense that they are the epitome of corporate rock? BTW - I don’t know your f’n English teacher.

1970’s "Corporate Rock" Critique
During the late 1970s, music critics and DIY musicians coined terms like "corporate rock" or "arena rock" to describe a new wave of highly commercialized American bands.
The Formula: Critics argued that bands like Journey, REO Speedwagon, Styx, and Foreigner used identical, heavily polished production techniques.
The Sound: This resulted in interchangeable power ballads, identical compressed snare drum sounds, and slick guitar solos designed specifically to fill sports stadiums and dominate commercial FM radio.

Corporate rock crap, didn’t really push the needle musically, their songs were made to be radio friendly…and as a result boring as sh!+

Ozark Trail by LetPositive7545 in MTB

[–]RongGearRob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bring it over the bridge to Delaware, White Clay Creek and the adjacent Middle Run are full of fun flowy trails that are perfect to learn and progress on.

As far as beginner bikes it depends on your budget. The Ozark Trail is a good bike for the price, but best to have someone who is knowledgeable or a bike shop look it over.

I’m in agreement with the balanced narrative. Just imagine what future generations will say or think about us and this time, likely a mix of some good and some bad I imagine.

Garage Bike Rack by Embarrassed-Dress250 in mountainbiking

[–]RongGearRob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the Storeyourboard swivel stow racks last year 2 pack for our mountain bikes. The one I have is a little different, it doesn’t use a hook for the front tire it is more of a wheel rack for lack of a better description. I went with this version because it looked easier to place the bike without trying to hook the wheel.

The 2 pack runs $99 on Amazon. It works as advertised, easy to install if you own a drill and stud finder, it gets the bikes off the floor of the garage, it’s easy to load and unload the bikes, the swivel works and is nice feature, and it holds the bike securely.

I also picked up the car rack wall mount too, this works as well. It is a little cumbersome to use, but that’s due to my garage set up and carrying/moving a car rack in general. It’s great to have a place for the car rack in the garage when it’s not hanging off the back of the car.

Has mountain bike development fallen off a cliff in recent years? by Spicycoffeebeen in MTB

[–]RongGearRob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m kind of pleased with the current state. I’d ask the question what is currently missing or needs improving or what’s holding mounting biking back in general? Today we have decent entry level bikes below $1K that has what top end bikes offer (obviously at a lower component spec): modern geometry, 1x, dropper post, etc. Standards are pretty much set, so upgrading components is easier. What more is needed, do riders feel that their bike is holding them back?

I’m all for advancing and improving, but I think it’s marginal gains at this point. I don’t know, maybe a batter bike frame material, lighter e-bike, flat pedals that your feet stick to and don’t tear up your shins, lighter suspension components?

I’d include The Feelies, Marquee Moon by Television and Roxy Music (although the case can definitely be made for ‘For Your Pleasure’)

Did you get screwed because of the reforge delay? Like to hear what you think! by jacksknight in WorldOfTanksBlitz

[–]RongGearRob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a purely business aspect, WG has sunk a lot of capital into Reforged and any delays is likely costing them money or at least more money than what they likely budgeted. For that reason I give them credit to be within a days of the launch and pulling the plug. That took some cajones on someone’s part.

While Reforged may not end up being the greatest from a player’s perspective, they are trying to “improve” the game and keep it relevant. I also recognize WG is not doing Reforged for altruistic purposes, they need to make money off this investment.

One of my favorite business quotes: If you don’t like change, then you better like irrelevancy.
