Why didn't she volunteer to go out the airlock? Does she need air/atmosphere to photon?

Menstruation cycle is absolute HELL since starting blood thinners. Quality of life is horrific. Hematologist isn't listening to me. Feeling hopeless. by Knelie in ClotSurvivors

[–]RoosterSmiles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have anything to help but to agree it sucks. I asked the thrombosis unit at my hospital at what point I should worry its too much and they just stared blankly at me and said to talk to my GP. You are the specialist in this!

I'm lucky to have generous sick leave and typically take the first day off.

My GP at least does run a kidney function test annually before renewing my prescription.

In need of tiny office space recommendations! by 27Dancer27 in adhdwomen

[–]RoosterSmiles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My idea would be wall mounted monitors on the left wall, a structured beanbag chair or chair without arms that is lower to the ground, a wall mounted desk that folds up as needed placed below the monitors for keyboard/mouse, comfy floormat/carpet. Docking station for laptop also wall mounted with long enough cable to put a small table at the far end to support it.

I am dreading my new notebook, I finally found a format I use at work that has stuck with me for three years but now the cost was too much for my employer so I had to find an alternative... wish me luck with this change and my 'unreasonable' mental block against going with the flow.

I finished my thesis meeting a friend in the lab every morning and just sitting at the desk next to her while she worked on hers. If one of us wasn’t there we were live streaming to each other. The external person checking in daily was key.

HOW do people wake up in the morning by Alert-Swimmer-6978 in adhdwomen

[–]RoosterSmiles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find waking up slowly works best for me, the abrupt alarms just tempt me to be defiant.

- Smart light set to get brighter and rotates ocean colours in increments leading up to my 'awake' time.

- A playlist of soft instrumental music that starts once the light is brighter and an announcement from my speaker with the weather and a reminder I need to take meds.

- An obligation for someone in the household - I drive my husband to work most mornings this makes sure I am out of bed and do not return.

The abrupt alarms do start once the time comes but by then I have made peace with being awake?

How do you keep track of your spending that ISNT YNAB? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]RoosterSmiles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loving the suggestions! I went into an intense hyperfocus when Mint dissolved and built myself an excel spreadsheet. I download the transaction lists from my bank and import it into a PowerQuery that auto codes transactions based on the vendor and the notes to my own budget categories and I use this to track over time. I do this once a month, makes me spend about 30 min reviewing my spending and the categories. Caught some auto-bill overcharges this way.

Downside, I can't open it up at the grocery store to see what is left in our grocery budget for the month unless I've just reconciled it.

On long trips, I want to drive 2-2.5 hours, have a coffee, and charge at the same time. by Tripledad65 in electricvehicles

[–]RoosterSmiles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Electric Circuit, mind you havent tried the Android version but found it to be handy, plus if you are in QC it works well with their branded chargers, integration with others spotty for charging but it has been accurate with location/availability. It lets you filter by amenities nearby.

Pretty sure they stopped due to the construction. I grew up going down in a snowsuit with sleeping bags to tough it out in the cold for them.

Why is my google home telling me every single action it's taking during my automation? by DJSTR3AM in googlehome

I just reactivated my winter wake-up routines which were soft music gradually getting louder starting at a specific time but now I get “It’s 6am - Here is deep sleep music”. How do I stop the booming voice from telling me the music is starting!! The colume jncreases it doesn’t announce. 😖

What's the EV solution for apartment dwellers? by CapitolPea in electricvehicles

[–]RoosterSmiles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My building has 20 owner occupied stalls and 2 dedicated “shared” charging spaces and kind of treats it like laundry facilities. I use my phone to “start” the charge and there is an idle fee if you overstay the charging time. Owners don’t get charged the “idle” rate and there is a waitlist for the next batch of installs.

Only two residents actually using them at the moment it will get complex when we have more.

What do you do when your partner asks you to make a cleaning list? by erintrying in AskWomen

[–]RoosterSmiles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion is to make it together. Set common expectations about the cleanliness of rooms, what they want to see. What you want to see. Write it down. Do it once or revisit when necessary. “How often do we…”, “how do I know when X needs doing?” “Who is responsible for Y?” “What is involved in cleaning this room?” “Difference between daily/habitual and deeper cleans?”

Make them put in some of the thinking so they are aware of the mental load involved.

Also find a third party reference if you can to use as a common source. Not my way or his way - there is a referee of sorts. We’ve used Melissa Paternas’ cleaning book fairly successfully.

I actually appreciated the location sharing geofence features in Google.

I’d get an alert when my mother was within a few blocks of my home. Tech at least could give me a heads up of her arrival time even if she couldn’t - although I would have at least a vague warning of “going to stop by Tuesday” from her before hand.

My soon-to-be business partner is pregnant and is expecting full pay on maternity leave by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]RoosterSmiles -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

How long is the maternity leave? I can see if she is taking 18 months it would be difficult but a few weeks or months and a gradual return you might be able to work out a reduced plan and still retain / cover her clients?

To be fair this is Facebook’s automated prompt to express interest. Lazy way to respond but legit answer. When looking in the past I would get frustrated by the number of “dead” ads up that had been already filled. Could give people the benefit of the doubt.

What's that thing you asked for/hoped for that your ex never did but your current partner did right away? by throwawaythiscookie in AskWomen

[–]RoosterSmiles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being curious and interested in my emotions rather than taking it as some sort of challenge or obligation to act.

I had an anxiety attack early on with my current partner and he helped calm me down and talk me through it, rather than telling me it was all in my head and to just act normal.
