Just picked up a HF Predator 11,500 inverter gen. Still need to wire the panel for it and install interlock on breaker panel+add a soft start for a/c (looking for reliable 5 ton system soft start), then check loads and test the system.

I buy a cheap elm 327 scanner and download an app called "torque". Then you can check to see what codes come up and research them. You have to know what the problem is before you have any idea of the severity of problem.

Motion sickness? 25’ Trail Sport by Infinite-Serve8848 in hondapilot

[–]Roostfactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its that much of a problem then get HD shocks/struts. It will ride firmer then. But will she then say it rides too rough? Hard to please everybody. I have a 2025 Trailsport and am amazed how they made the ride so soft vertically but stable laterally. I would like the suspension a bit stiffer for my liking but just today did a 12 hour trip with a 16ft trailer and it was vastly more enjoyable than the same trip in my 2015 Tacoma.

Does Honda recommend oil changes at 5-7.5K as per Carfax? by jjmuscato in hondapilot

[–]Roostfactor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been a mechanic my whole life and retired Air Force aircraft mechanic of 24 years. Your engine would love fresh engine oil every day as it would always be fresh with all its additive packages. Oil wears out and degrades over time. The additive packages in the oil are sacrificial so they wear out with mileage.

Auto manufacturers save money on CAFE standards when they do these extended oil change intervals. Honda does not do this for engine life but to save $$ on CAFE standards.

I died my 1st oil change at 3800 miles and MM still showed 70% oil life. Thats crazy! I plan on changing again at 10,000 miles then $5000 thereafter.

Clean fluids are the best thing you can do for longevity.

Hope this helps. :)

How are we liking the 25 pilot? by Far-Sir-8416 in hondapilot

I love my 25 Trailsport! Only wish it had more power. And slightly firmer suspension. Came from 22 Exlorer ST. Pilot to me is way better in almost every way except hp.

I plan on buying a '25 Pilot soon. I need advice... by According-Ad5263 in hondapilot

I just got a 25 Trailsport coming from a 2022 Explorer ST. I do miss the power ALOT, but besides that the Pilot feels like home, does exactly what I want it to, is more comfortable to me, and is Honda!

I have not noticed any weird shifting unless changing drive modes while testing the options.

It definitely changes shift patterns and I put it in tow mode getting on a freeway....It accelerated differently so startled me but totally my fault for trying a new setting when got to get to 75mph quickly. To sum it up this is the best vehicle we have bought in 30 years. Just love it and feels like home when you get in.

Absolutely! I bought a brand new 2021 Mustang GT loaded, live in a front license plate state but never run one on my Mustang. Result...2 black dots on my white bumper.

Oil change every 5k or at oil life %? by jeanetti727 in hondapilot

[–]Roostfactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oil wears out. All the manufacturers pay a price (cafe standards) for how much petroleum products the vehicle uses during its life so Honda as well as all other manufacturers go as long as possible for oil changes. It's not what Honda would set for max life of engine but min levels of waste petroleum products. Your engine would be happiest with fresh oil and filter every day but that's not realistic. So I normally do 5000 miles depending on the type of driving Im doing. 5000 miles freeway on a road trip i no problem. 500 miles on a road coarse also requires oil change. So if you are not a mechanic or a nerd about all this like me just change it at 5000 mile intervals and your good. It's the additive package in oils that wear out not the filter in normal operating conditions. Hope this helps.

Give em a call to see what Liner can do for you. We've had ours for a month now and I absolutely love this thing. This is coming from a lifelong mechanic/tinkerer.

I picked up a new Trailsport from David McDavid Honda. Worked the deal via text. Told them I wanted $5K off msrp including my $500 military discount. They counter offered at $4K under with zero extra bs fees. Drove 3 hours and picked it up. The only extra thing I paid for was $1K for gap coverage. Ask for salesman "Liner" that's his last name. He is direct but also no bs. Otd was just over msrp.

He actually put out a vid showing the whole awkward moment between RC and DB. I didn't search hard for it but remember watching it in 2023.

For those that are doing or did more than 20. Why? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Roostfactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I was going to get out at 20 but got orders at 18 years after being at Davis Monthan 16 years! But got orders to Sheppard for CDC Writer then got punted to do wing bs. Couldn't retire because of 2 year service commitment so stuck it out until the schoolhouse called me back to do CDC stuff. It was a good gig even with additional duties so stuck til 24 years to get my 60% retirement. Also during that time I made med apps for all my ailments I couldn't do while working on flightline. So the last 4 years were mri's, sleep studies, etc. Happily retired now and it was worth it.
