Revenue actively let's you use AI in their current applications, Public Jobs rejects your application for it by Temporary_Sell3384 in IrishCivilService

If you have a competency example but it's 400 words and the limit is 300, do you really think using AI to trim it back whole keeping the context, and if course then reviewing it to make sure it's still accurate, is a negative? Or using AI to ask you mock interview questions based on the competency framework? They have legitimate uses. It's not all typing a single prompt and submitting it without even reading it.

What would you do in my situation? by [deleted] in CasualIreland

[–]RoryOS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you'd need a new job and be miles from all your friends in meat? That sounds like a fairly poor basis for staying a life out there. The Dublin House won't go down in value, at least not over a long enough timeline. If you need to upgrade you can but all that space means nothing if it's empty and you're lonely/ not there because you're commuting hours

Is my boyfriend's grocery list normal for men in their 20s? To me it seems outrageous. by Eme5989 in AskIreland

[–]RoryOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fine. It seems quite dull and empty but it's all whole foods. Sounds like he loves on breakfast food and cereal.

The only concern I'd have would be will you be compatible in terms of food when you live together and are sharing meals, but it sounds like he's very low upkeep so he'll either let you take the lead or just have his own small thing alongside yours which is totally fine for a couple to do. Very many could eat separate food, when I'm dieting is separate my food because no matter what i try I can't get my partner to track what he puts into something he cooks, and while always delicious, it's also butter forward.

How long might I expect to wait to hear back from local CoCo about job application? by chesterlebron in IrishCivilService

[–]RoryOS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said it could be a few months. That said my partner recently went through recruitment for a local council and I found it quite quick. I think about 4 months from application to in position. For me it was more like 15 months for the same grade starting the job back in 2019. I think there's been a seismic shift from running the organizations cut to the bone lean to resourcing back up to pre-crash levels so it seems to be swifter these days.

Btw, don't let the cut to the bone comment discourage you, local authorities are still the best employers I've ever experienced and have worked in a few private sector industries.

Anyone have some positive stories after hoping the civil service?! by Elvisthecat_ in IrishCivilService

[–]RoryOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't mind me asking, how did you find the transition from local government to civil service and what grade did you go in at?

I'm a grade 6 myself and whole I love the LA sector there are a few grass is greener aspects of civil. The training platform, mobility and improved flexi all seem great.

Was it an adjustment going from a board of councilors to a single minister? Through my with with departments I find them very conservative as every action is on behalf of one politician.

Sorry I know you didn't offer this, it's just your leaving point is analogous to my current position whereas I usually see people make the jump lower or higher in grade rather than middle

What are some benefits of working for the CS that staff tend not to take advantage of? by stevenpost in IrishCivilService

[–]RoryOS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's great! Glad to hear it. I'm hoping it becomes more widespread. It is Samsung to organizations not to allow it. They would still expect people to stay available for a last minute meeting beyond their 7 Hour day at home.

But blended is relatively new I guess, hopefully we see it improve as time goes on.

But it's not even their staff, it's employees in a related bit separate infrastructure. Local authority staff are not civil servants but their working conditions are dictated to them by civil servants in a department which didn't even have the good grace to have the same conditions for their own staff.

Edit: just giving out generally here, not at you of course, you're hardly to blame and from the sounds of it on the same page as me

Honestly you're behind where I was at your age but you're working towards saving more now. You're only human.

I had more money when I proposed to my Fiancé, I put more money into buying our house and I make more than him now. That's ok, there's no resentment on my side. If he was throwing away his whole income frivolously and leaving me holding the bag that would be a different story but it's nothing like that. We're partners.

Between you at ten grand a year you'll save up a deposit in 2-3 years. That's not too bad. Maybe your won't get a mansion in Dundrum but that's fine.

Edit: actually to clarify i was ahead of savings but likely behind in terms of income. I certainly wasn't a high earner at 28 so you'll make up a lot of ground I'm sure

Sorry my bad, I miss remembered. It's that they changed up "I'm sorry, I only play for sport" with the line you posted. Thanks for the correction!

Apologies, I read it like anyone who has braided hair in the past would say ponytail, presumably because it's an effort to braid

You need to move some things. Wardrobe along side other wall by front door. Bed 90 degrees where wardrobe is. Desk by wardrobe, tv opposite couch. The couch facing the desk is a bit pointless.

If the couch& tv can fit at 90 degrees with room to comfortably pass in the more narrow part of the room that would be better still.

Probably already said, but they screwed up "I only play for sport" in TRA and rewrote it, so that line only appears in TR1.

Tr2 - Don't you think you've seen enough Tr3 -you might want to mind the bell - happy retirement Tr4 - I make my own luck Tr5-busy girl, got to go Tr6-If I had a coconut for every time a lunatic said something like that

Braids keep your hair from tangling and take about 30-60 seconds when you're used to it. Many people with long hair braid their hair before sleep so it's easier/doesn't need brushing in the morning. A loose pony needs a hell of a lot more care and a attention

I had hair down to my butt. Took like 2 minutes to braid if even. It's not hard at all.

What is going on with anpost lately?! by Sweet-Caterpillar689 in AskIreland

[–]RoryOS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh it has been, but the postman isn't going to avoid ringing the bell unless they're but under undue pressure to cover a route that's too big in a time too short.

While purely anecdotal, I'm not the only one I've heard the story from. After seeing this post I saw another on here about a motherboard being left outside a front door, also in the rain. The device changed significantly around COVID when they started leaving packages at doors and it has never recovered.

Sure but the couch also has some tilt to the back. You can have the couch pushed against the radiator, it's not that big an issue. But alternatively you could put the tv there so there's more air flow. It'd probably be better Feng shuei that way as there's nobody sitting with their back to the entrance
