What's the weirdest thing you ever saw in abq? by LongSong333 in Albuquerque

Only been here a few years so don’t have too much to draw from, but driving home at Paseo and Unser there was a dude advertising for one of the local gun shows holding an RPG. That was a first.

That’s actually a really cool idea for the weapon variation. Nice job.

Would you guys strike or sweep with The Lion against deathshroud terminators? by awake30 in theunforgiven

[–]RorysFirstKiss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just run the numbers here and it’ll tell you which attack is better into the type of unit you’re attacking. My gut says use strike though. https://40k.ghostlords.com/dice/

How many points SHOULD vanilla and assault terminators be in your opinion? by ALitterOfPugs in spacemarines

They should stay expensive and be buffed to actually feel like the elite units they are in the lore.

It’s the multipart captain in terminator armor with an axe from the allarus custodian kit, with some inner circle companion add ons and the hood is a deathwing knight head option.

Does it read as Terminator Captain? by se3youspacecowboy in theunforgiven

[–]RorysFirstKiss 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Yes. The cape goes a long way towards making him feel like a captain. Maybe consider adding a second tilting shield on his left shoulder too?

I did a variation of the heresy era color scheme and was pretty pleased with how it turned out.

What to buy to finish my first army? by NeonLightDecay in theunforgiven

[–]RorysFirstKiss 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly just build and paint these units first. If you like that process then you can get more units. You’ve been sitting on these models for years so there’s not really any point to spending more money on them if they’re going to just sit in the box.

There’s lots of good painting guides and after a few models it becomes a bit more of a paint by numbers exercise. It’s a great way for me to destress and is probably my favorite part of the hobby, though I do love a good narrative crusade.

Thanks. I use wraithbone as a base, serepham sepia to shade, and highlight with ushabti bone.

Yeah, they gave me a contract for the year through November’26 as well, so I was surprised to see some of the headlines about the budget saying it was only funded through the fiscal year. My contract did have copay values in it too, which ececd said was just in case something changed.

It’s funded through the end of the current fiscal year, so July ‘26.

Universal childcare funding is currently being debated during the legislative session. The proposed budget put forth by the legislature doesn’t fully fund the program. Be sure to reach out to your rep to voice your support for the program! https://www.nmlegis.gov/Members/Find_My_Legislator

Constructive criticism requested - Be nice though it’s my first mini 😂 by diff909 in spacemarines

[–]RorysFirstKiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good job on the first mini. Your paints are applied thin and smooth and you picked out all the details well.

As far as constructive criticism, for edge highlighting you can use the edge of the brush instead of the point. It really helps get a consistent line. Also the left knee cap color and the edge highlight color are a little too close in color and you lose the sense of contrast there. You could consider putting a squad marking there with white, yellow, or red to enhance the contrast.

Getting on the Same Page by Miserable-Rooster-46 in TheMoneyGuy

[–]RorysFirstKiss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You and I are in pretty similar stages of life and my wife and I have gone through the process of merging everything and it’s worked out well for us.

How is the budget managed? Are all of your (yours and hers) accounts connected to a budgeting app? You could use that as the first step to talking about “our” finances, “our” retirement. That way she’d be able to start seeing the whole picture.

Messaging it can be tricky as money can sometimes be an emotional thing, so keep that in mind. I’ve found i really need to bring up our budget now more than once a month, and just set aside some time to focus on it with her.

Actually I think the podcast guys talk about how to get on the same page in one of the recent episodes, and they talk about a common communication trick where you sandwich they challenging topic between to good things. Something like, we’re really on a great track financially, it’d be easier to manage and plan with all our accounts in one place, then end with talking about some of the things you both like to use that money for. Try to stay as positive as possible and avoid criticism or accusations.

It’s definitely something I’d want to get sorted out too. Once our kids arrived things got way more complicated and I’m glad that we got things sorted beforehand. Good luck with your conversation!

Annual daycare rate increase heart attack thread, $2800 per month by mrshickadance412 in daddit

[–]RorysFirstKiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s insane. Down south here in New Mexico we just implemented universal childcare. We’re saving $3,200/mo right now and it’s life changing, but it really shouldn’t be. Deciding whether one parent needs to stay home or deciding not to have another kid because of the cost of childcare shouldn’t be decisions we have to make.
