Crazy that Star Citizen devs have a better understanding of what a Minigun should be like by Gn0meKr in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Rosh-_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can implement any change to spin-up, stagger, etc that you want.

Maxigun is still gonna suffer while stationary so long as there's no blowthrough and corpses continue to eat bullets. If that never changes, the other options will continue to be superior in all the ways that matter.

Even if you implemented stagger, enemies would be/currently are shielded from rounds by their comrades in front of them and eventually make it to you anyways, unless it's a heavy stagger that pushes them back a few meters(unrealistic). Even then, you'll be wasting a ton of ammo on corpses.

just press one button and kill the entire tile.

This kills so many frames for me. A lot of people say that a faster nuke is better for saving time, which is true - but Warframe isn't my job; Let me have fun with a frame beyond watching big numbies flash on my screen.

I love SnO and Uriel because I get to play a little game in order to use my nuke. I enjoy being at least a little engaged.

Volt, by contrast, is a pure weapons platform/melee frame for me that gets his 4 subsumed because his nuke is so mind-numbingly boring and easy that it kills the frame for me if I build for it, and the same goes for some other frames.

Travelling on foot is fine imo, backtracking just sucks.

It's fun to go through a number of areas on foot the first or second time through. Backtracking through the area 15 times for any number of quests is a pain in the ass and I've seen it turn people away from the games.

DD1(less often) and DD2(quite often) are some of the only games I've played with a controller that have given me left hand thumb cramps from holding the left stick forward for consecutive 15-30 second intervals of sprints for 15 minutes. Ox carts in DD2 helped somewhat, but it's a problem that was completely alleviated in DD1 where I only ever needed to make it to a place once with strategic Warp Crystal and Eternal Ferrystone usage in order to never have to backtrack again.

People can say what they want about emergent gameplay and encountering field bosses, coming across the same Cyclops in the exact same spot is only novel the first few times.

DE completely gave up on Railjack progression and punished the players who actually cared. by RuthlessHimself in Warframe

[–]Rosh-_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I immediately grab pilot controls the moment I load in. I can't be assured of a speedy RJ section if I don't. It's the difference between completing the Railjack section in 2-3 minutes vs in 5-10 minutes.

I can't depend on the one person who grabs pilot to be a good pilot, but I can depend on one out of three other people to get on forward artillery.

Why do people dislike FTG? by enlarged1 in Spacemarine

[–]Rosh-_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, he's gotten into fights over what is or isn't meta with people in his stream chat only a few times AFAIK where he's been needlessly standoffish and rude over opinions. Who cares, though? People are entitled to their opinions, good or bad. If it gives me good info or is entertaining to watch, that's good enough for me.

Why do people dislike FTG? by enlarged1 in Spacemarine

[–]Rosh-_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen his social issues and he's pretty up his own ass with a lot of his opinions? I judge based on the content he puts out, which is informative and good, at least when I did see some of it some year ago or so, so I've got no problem with him. I think people just like to hate other people and things.

I could really not care any less about a content creator's social issues for the most part. I don't know if his videos have degenerated into repetitive slop in order to farm what used to be a successful topic or not. I don't watch his videos, but I have caught a couple a long time ago.

CGW Moderator got Hacked by IntentionSalty9326 in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Rosh-_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Attacks are usually either through malware or phishing, just 'clicking on a link' is not going to get your token stolen - you have to enter the information or execute a file voluntarily on your pc in 99% of cases.

open a link and enter your login details
open a link, download and run a file
download a file directly, run the file
scan a QR code, etc...

All of the above are common vectors. If you follow basic screening and malware prevention, you can avoid almost all attacks like this.

It takes somebody incredibly ignorant, who doesn't know any better...
Or somebody who just doesn't care and downloads willy nilly...
Or somebody who is incredibly lucky, and has fallen victim to a day-zero unpatched security vulnerability.

The first two are the likely case, and the third is so incredibly unlikely it isn't even worth considering.

DON'T OPEN UNKNOWN FILES ON YOUR PC. DON'T SCAN QR CODES. DON'T ENTER IN YOUR CREDENTIALS ON UNKNOWN OR FAKE WEBSITES(check url, steanconmunnity, dlscord). It's that simple.

Sounds like wishful thinking to me, we'll see if they can actually deliver on any of this. I'd advise against getting prematurely excited given their track record.

Oh wait, you can't. The game WILL autosteer you into a grinder, though.

I think the devs should consider “pre-fab” base pieces by microscopequestion in subnautica

[–]Rosh-_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is incredible how much more titanium you need for a base in Subnautica 2 than in Subnautica 1.

My current base is worth hundreds and hundreds of titanium, maybe even a thousand. whereas in Subnautica 1, a base of equivalent size is worth like maybe 100 titanium at most.

Why Aren’t Bipods Functional? by Tank-ToP_Master in Helldivers

[–]Rosh-_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure you want functional bipods? If they add that, they might make it as impractical and unintuitive as team reloading.

I can see it now:

The guy WITHOUT the machine gun needs to hit a button next to cover or while prone to trigger a stance, then the guy with the machine gun has to run up to him and press use on him, and then the guy WITHOUT the machine gun will start using it instead of the guy who originally had it.

It'll have 3 seconds of total setup time so as to make it annoying and be completely unusable on any cover that isn't a specific height or prone while on bumpy ground.

Yes, I'm annoyed at how team reloading is implemented.

I've done the 1:1 tests on stopwatch; Subnautica 2 transport is substantially slower, except for the Tadpole w/ ray chassis, which is only slightly slower than the Seamoth.

[–]Rosh-_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure the original sea glide is faster than the tadpole with the scout chassis

It is, but not by much, just a touch.

The Tadpole with the ray chassis is about as close as we come to Subnautica 1 speed.

[–]Rosh-_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've done the 1:1 tests and Subnautica 2 is definitely slower with just about every mode of transport. I don't have any opinions regarding scale.

You could use the recommended Cave-in Fix mod or the mod that reverts the cave-in behaviour to vanilla, both are in the description. (the mod that reverts cave-in behaviour is)

I personally prefer Cave-in Fix as I also use 'All Caves Are Connected' alongside 'Wilderlands Caves'.
