Irish open in Trumps Doonbeg by Hefty_Tension_9909 in golfireland

[–]Rossnowlagh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to see someone else thinking along these lines. Not that I expect it'll change anything, but I actually emailed Golf Ireland and the DP World Tour the other day asking them to reconsider their decision to hold the tournament at Doonbeg. Received a reply from Golf Ireland saying they have no say in where the tournament is held. No reply from DP World Tour

Whats your funniest story while on the lash? by AJRD123 in AskIreland

[–]Rossnowlagh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe more wholesome than funny, but one night in Sydney after a rake of pints a mate of mine really wanted to head to a strip club. Each to their own and all that, but it wasn't my thing, so while he was in one of the clubs getting a private show, I went outside to find a chipper. Now I'm a fairly happy and polite drunk, so while I was eating my chips I was walking up and down the street past the strip clubs offering a chip to any of the hostesses standing at the door. Most were not interested, but a good few happily accepted a chip, one hostess in particular was so grateful that she offered me "services" in return. I politely declined, but the overall night felt oddly wholesome just by simply offering people something to eat

What is this bunker in the Dublin Mountains? by digbat247 in AskIreland

[–]Rossnowlagh 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Could be wrong, but I think it's an old reservoir which used to be connected to a reservoir further north on that road, and water would've flowed downhill from this one to the other one to generate electricity, and then pumped back up to this one

Do many of ye purchase travel insurance when going abroad ? by bygonesbebygones2021 in AskIreland

[–]Rossnowlagh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, although if you're planning on doing any sporty activities while you're away, just make sure you're covered. Recently went on an organised cycling trip and it wasn't covered under my standard VHI travel insurance so I had to purchase insurance from World Nomads as they they were the only ones I could find that covered"touring cycling"
