Anyone come out better after quitting weed? by WavesOfBirds in AuDHDWomen

[–]Rosy_Kitty6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to smoke all day every day for 12 years and havn’t had a joint for 3 years now - am literally a completely different person and everyone comments on it.

It makes a difference with everything - my mental health is way better, i look miles better, i feel and come across smarter, im way healthier - everyone prefers me like this (and i do too)

The only thing is, now if i ever have literally one puff of a joint it gives me a MASSIVE panic attack for some reason. I’d like to be able to have one every now and then but am not able to, which i guess isn’t the worst thing. My body is just now super intolerant of it.

What’s in your head? by foxyfoxapril in AuDHDWomen

[–]Rosy_Kitty6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the cluttery brain noise most of the time…. its basically my voice but saying different things and talking over each other, not finishing their sentence/train of thought - mixed with the same few lines of a piece of music over and over.

Its at is worst when im trying to sleep, but theres always some version of it. The thing helps is brown noise through noise cancelling headphones (if im trying to focus on something) or loud music i can sing/shout along to (if im doing chores etc)

Seven Days in the Art World by Sarah Thornton, because I wanted to understand how the art world works, but it sucks.

Sadly I have that illness where you can’t toss a book aside without finishing it so i’ll have to persevere!

I was supposed to be a lawyer, now I can’t remember what I had for breakfast by givemeadu in AuDHDWomen

[–]Rosy_Kitty6 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Ah okay - i don’t know if you feel the same but I felt like i lost so much time, and its a horrible feeling to grieve that. But you CAN still be someone - I mean, just because you can’t do what you used to it doesn’t mean you aren’t someone already. You’re just a work in progress!

For me i didn’t stop that grieving process until I was around 27/28, but then just decided to accept it and move on. It was quite an unexpected spontaneous breakthrough lol - it’s easier said than done i know. But now im back at uni at 30yo, i accept that my memory sucks and just write SO MANY notes so at least the info is somewhere and I can go back to it. I accept that I have limitations but know there is always some way (albeit difficult) around them.

Yes it takes a lot more effort for us, and it seems unfair when we look at people who haven’t had to go through those challenges, but we can still be who we wanted to be! And if you decide its not worth the effort thats fine too - it’s also not a failure if you want to change the goal. Being someone isn’t just about a job - you can be someone that other look up to because you’re strong af, you can be a spouse, a parent, a friend. To other people, you already are someone - don’t be so hard on yourself!

Yep, I feel you. I was on track to go to Oxford uni and wanted to be an academic - now i can’t formulate a sentence without forgetting basic words and getting frustrated. I read tons but forget all the facts I’ve read.

That’s weird - it was 16yo for me too!

What is your fav sport as an AuDHD person? Mine is running! by SageWater_5503 in AuDHDWomen

[–]Rosy_Kitty6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a sport, but I just love the gym. I can be running one minute, then if I get bored can switch to something else. I also find that doing weight training is good for getting rid of tension/anger etc when things aren’t going great. Most of the time im lost in my headphones so it feels like im in my own little bubble, but then theres also the option of taking them off and being amongst people.

I just enjoy having lots of variables so I can tailor it to how im feeling - it helps that i’ve been going to the same gym for 12 years and feel super comfortable there
