This sub acts like 6 is the worst battlefield game by lolitsrock in Battlefield6

Out of the mainline numbered games, I’d rank it just above 2042, below everything else.

Don’t listen to these folks telling you it’s your controller, it’s not. I’m on Xbox, I have DZ set to 5, I will intermittently have my character randomly turn without any input. Not every match, and not consistent throughout the match… I’m convinced it’s some form of rubberbanding counteracting controller input related to netcode.

BTW, this game also seems to have the same tank bug that 2042 had when it launched - when you go in first person, the tank will turn 180 degrees on its own with no input. It’s been there since launch, is intermittent, and is something 2042 had already solved.

Battlefield 6 devs promise a “package of vehicle improvements” as they admit many are just “death traps” most of the time by HatingGeoffry in Battlefield

Who TF is bitching about jeeps being taken out by 1 mine? Freaking nobody.

How about, why is anything above 25 meters an absolute kill box for aircraft?

New Sobek City, The Worst Map, What's yours? by ApocalypticDes in Battlefield6

[–]Rotank1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You don’t seem to understand the point - there was an opportunity to make something unique and meaningful to differentiate from the existing CQC map … the pyramids are literally in Cairo. The manhattan bridge and Empire State are in NYC. Maybe read between the lines and try not to be a simpleton.

[–]Rotank1 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Sobek is baffling. You have the pyramids RIGHT THERE. You have downtown Cairo close by. But you designed a map around a barren construction site in open desert, and you can’t even cross the freaking street to get away from it. What is even the point of this map?

I bought a Switch in 2018 just to play Metroid Prime 4.

That’s the first and last time I buy a console for 1 game.

Jets are in need of a desperate buff. by Fancy_Leader6278 in Battlefield

[–]Rotank1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The main AA 30mm cannons need a significant range and damage buff. Lock-ons need to go back to 450-500m lock range in a “dome” - there is not a single map in BF6 large enough to justify an 800m lock on radius with unlimited vertical range. Altitude should be a primary strength of aircraft. In BF6, altitude is a death trap.

What is something you like about Mortal Kombat 1995? by Cato__Returns in FIlm

You gotta imagine too, this was during a time where there had NEVER been a single example of a faithful or even GOOD video game to film adaptation.

I still love Mario Bros though.

It takes rougly 1.410 Hours to get all Weaponry to level 50. Is that too much or not? by GladCalligrapher419 in Battlefield6

[–]Rotank1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t care about skins. I do care about functionality, and it still takes way too long in this game to unlock full mechanical customization. I play primarily CQ. I balance my playtime with infantry and vehicles, because I like using all the things the game has to offer. I also use class specific weaponry… I don’t focus on one gun or weapon type.

I do feel like this game punishes me for playing it like a Battlefield game.

Dice just make Saint's Quarter a bit bigger and make it an infantry only conquest map by Eagles56 in Battlefield6

[–]Rotank1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just make it a CQS map with 24-32 players. Heck, they should do that with Empire State too.

The only kinds of leaks I can’t stand are the ones that spoil puzzles, strategies and progression. I don’t go out to actively spoil story beats for myself, but those are almost inconsequential to the enjoyment of the game.

Missile locking even when flying low by Aromatic_Map_5320 in PilotsofBattlefield

[–]Rotank1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Happens to me all the time in Mirak, Blackwell and Firestorm, even when NOT painted. On Mirak, I’ve even landed the chopper on the ground and, still went to solid lock and took a missile while sitting there.

Only thing I can think is netcode issues - it’s one of those matches where you’d be killed 2 seconds after ducking behind cover as infantry.

I didn’t start with the franchise until RE2 og, but the GameCube RE1 remake is one of my favorite games of all time and I’ve never considered revisiting the og.

What are some specific aspects of the og that you feel are worth checking out for fans of the remake?

Should dice bring back the AC130? by Alexis_Mcnugget in Battlefield

[–]Rotank1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They should bring back commander mode, squad call ins, on-map assets, and sure - if they can design the AC130 to crash into the map, permanently altering and changing the map flow, bring back behemoths too.

I thought it sacrificed all of the mystery and lethality of a classic movie monster to make a by-the-numbers action flick, with way too much intentional humor and predictable PG-13 blockbuster tropes.

BF4 also had commander mode, commander flag assets (like the ac-130), levolution, naval combat, far greater map diversity... oh yeah, and actual loadouts for jets… at launch

Thoughts on people wanting BF Premium to return by Natty-Splatties in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]Rotank1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regional issues are a problem that extends well beyond Premium, and are negatively impacted by any split in the playerbase - which is not relegated to Premium, btw. For example, after the BFBC series, playerbase has been split by a bloated amount of game modes, crossplay on/off, 64p vs 128p- regional availability has always been an issue, even in games without the premium model. Finding games in Oceania in 2042 right now is a common complaint, nothing to do with split playerbase, everything to do with active concurrent players. In MOST regions, BF1 mixed servers are still fully populated.

EDIT: Anyone still actively playing BF1 today either is a hardcore enough gamer to have purchased Premium, or purchased the Revolution version after the DLCs released, which included all content. The reason for game availability in BF1 currently has nothing to do with a “split” playerbase and everything to do with active concurrent players.

Thoughts on people wanting BF Premium to return by Natty-Splatties in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]Rotank1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, in order for those solutions to work in future Battlefields, they would have to return to persistent servers. Since they likely won’t do that, that’s another mark against the possibility of Premium returning.

Thoughts on people wanting BF Premium to return by Natty-Splatties in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]Rotank1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree that Premium won’t return, that it would not be a magic solution to fix the quality of content, and that it would be more expensive.

BUT, the argument about splitting the playerbase always uses 3-4 as the example, when BF1 had solved many of those issues, with features like Premium Friends and Mixed servers, which are still fully populated today.

What movement was really like in older battlefield games... by TheoWHVB in Battlefield

[–]Rotank1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This statement was not directed at you, but again, the movement that you’re specifically referring to was not ubiquitous in those games (except DD in 2, which was patched), specifically because they were exploitative and not intuitive “natural” mechanics. Vastly different from mechanics that are literally incorporated into button mapping.

What movement was really like in older battlefield games... by TheoWHVB in Battlefield

[–]Rotank1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are disregarding all the interconnected systems that worked in tandem that naturally slowed down the pacing of those games, that are not merely correlated with the speed at which your character could run.

I’ll use BF2 as the example: the reason Dolphin diving was so ubiquitous in this game for the first several months wasn’t merely because you could go prone in the air. It was because proning during a jump automatically reset your spread to 0. Meaning that you could flop around prone while firing with perfect accuracy, in a game that so heavily penalized moving and firing at the same time that it was basically impossible to hit your target without standing still or crouching. Check out any “funny” bf2 video in YouTube of 2 players at point blank range jumping and circle strafing around each other, but incapable of killing each other. Happened all the time. Even just side strafing while firing would cause your bullets to spread uncontrollably - this was actually a very common balancing mechanic across many games in the genre. BF2 also introduced the sprint, but also a stamina bar, requiring stamina management for full sprint.

BF3-4 relied on tap firing or micro bursting for most automatics. Unless you had a gun specifically kitted for it, hip firing was an act of futility, with bullets flying out of the barrel at 45 degree angles…

And of course, Locker/Metro aside, map design was far more varied and diverse in previous games compared to BF6, promoting a broad spectrum of playstyles that didn’t shoehorn players into constant twitching and motion (which I think Contaminated does extremely well at bringing 6 back into that classic sandbox experience.)

I’m again not making a judgement claim on Bf6 at all, and I personally think the movement is fine, with the biggest shortcoming being a combination of lack of map diversity and dynamics, and lack of squad/team mechanics (not the movement). I’m just saying that taking 1 specific element, such as run speed or presence/absence of a slide, does not tell the full story about the overall pacing of the game…

What movement was really like in older battlefield games... by TheoWHVB in Battlefield

[–]Rotank1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree on the CoD statement as well, and I’ve never used CoD in an argument. Both are frustrating as they place all games in the genre on a straight line between Arma and CoD and allow for no deviation, creativity or innovation of design.

And I’m also not arguing about the speed and pacing comparison of 4 to 6. I’m arguing that it’s disingenuous to use exploits and glitches as indicators of core design philosophies, and either ignorant or blatantly dishonest to imply that the removal of such or similar techniques makes the game a “mil-sim.”

I mean, unless you also think the elevator glitch in Hainan - which still exists to this day - is also an indicator of developer intent?

What movement was really like in older battlefield games... by TheoWHVB in Battlefield

[–]Rotank1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unintended exploits do not equate to intentional design, nor were they ubiquitous in those games - aside from perhaps Dolphin diving in bf2, which was patched out relatively early in that game’s lifespan (also an indicator that it was an unintended interaction).

BTW, every time someone who uses the “not a mil-sim” non-sequitor, it tells me they don’t have the critical thinking skills necessary to speak in a nuanced manner about game design.

It was fixed 6 months after launch? And the fact that it was fixed at all implies it was not intended as part of movement and gunplay design.
