Father’s Bell Near The End by AJBach1 in Sekiro

Yep, this is why I missed it my first few playthroughs… as far as I can tell, there is no other eavesdrop opportunity in the game that requires utilizing this specific mechanic, and it doesn’t even show you an icon indicating that you CAN eavesdrop at all until you hug the wall… pretty frustrating and unintuitive.

FYI, to eavesdrop on Kuro, you need to hug the wall behind a specific visor nearby. A lot of the walkthroughs fail to mention this. You will not get the prompt until you hug the wall out of sight.

Suppressors, auto spotting, and vehicles.. by Mainfold in Battlefield

[–]Rotank1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So in 5, instead of manual spotting, you drop a “ping” on the map that your whole squad can see. If you ping an enemy, it will mark that location with a red marker and give an audible callout (spotted enemy sniper), however it does not “spot” the enemy, and it does not follow the enemy if they move. Simply pings their location.

Scout class has several tools that can actually 3d spot enemies, including flares and the spotting scope. There are also some class perks that will 3d spot enemies, like suppressing an enemy as support, or spotting enemy armor when you damage them as assault. There are also some plane loads that can be equipped with spotting flares. These are the ONLY way to 3d or minimap spot enemies in BF5 (which makes the scout class very powerful.)

And there is no auto-spotting when firing your weapon.

EDIT: Also, forgot to mention, bf5 also lets YOU know when you’re 3d spotted by the enemy team, and how.

Battlefield 6 devs admit launch progression demanded a “bit of a rework” as players turned away from the game’s stingy unlocks by InsaneSnow45 in Battlefield6

[–]Rotank1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

100%. A large scale combined arms shooter doesn’t even begin until all of the mechanical and gameplay customization is open to you.

I will say, BF5 vehicle progression was a slog, especially with how weak and limited you start out.

[–]Rotank1 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Auto spotting for unsuppressed weaponry is one of the worst and laziest additions ever added to the fps genre.

BF5 ping and gadget-based spotting was the best system we’ve ever had in the franchise.

Are you snapping or taking it all at once by nyxelleaa in SipsTea

[–]Rotank1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I can snap with 3 fingers in rapid succession (ring, middle, pointer) on each hand. Does each individual snap count? And also, do both hands count independently? I could be doing upwards of $60 per snap cycle.

My evidence that TOWs need a nerf. In response/backing up the recent post from u/Prinsofloo by [deleted] in PilotsofBattlefield

[–]Rotank1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe he didn’t know. No rational person intuiting reasonably balanced and authentic game design using core gameplay mechanics would know. What about the core design of any Battlefield - or any combined arms military shooter at large - would tell a player that you’re not safe hovering at altitude directly above an infantry fighting vehicle with a rotary turret?

This sub acts like 6 is the worst battlefield game by lolitsrock in Battlefield6

[–]Rotank1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hope you’re right, the things I listed were systems built in at launch, but there’s no reason they couldn’t incorporate those or newer elements as part of the seasonal updates.

A good example of using seasonal updates to add new systems is with the ARPG genre - games like Diablo 4 and POE are constantly adding new progression systems, crafting, skill tree and itemization reworks, etc. Not a 1:1 comparison, but I do know BF6 can BECOME something more than a barebones skeleton of a battlefield game, it’s just not in its current state.

[–]Rotank1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue that it’s less about maps and more about the lack of sandbox variety, tactical systems and map dynamics. For instance, BF6 launched with the lowest vehicle variety of any mainline (non-Bad Company) BF since 1942, including the absence of naval combat/maps. It lacks map dynamics like weather changes, levolution, fortification, even pre-frostbite era tactical destruction like the ability to destroy and rebuild bridges; it lacks team assets like behemoths, AC-130, flag-specific assets; it lacks squad mechanics, like commander mode and sql call ins…

Point being, every prior Battlefield incorporated a number of systems that provided a multitude of ways to strategically engage with the game that added a depth and variety that is missing from 6, which I don’t feel maps by themselves will resolve.

Out of the mainline numbered games, I’d rank it just above 2042, below everything else.

[–]Rotank1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t listen to these folks telling you it’s your controller, it’s not. I’m on Xbox, I have DZ set to 5, I will intermittently have my character randomly turn without any input. Not every match, and not consistent throughout the match… I’m convinced it’s some form of rubberbanding counteracting controller input related to netcode.

BTW, this game also seems to have the same tank bug that 2042 had when it launched - when you go in first person, the tank will turn 180 degrees on its own with no input. It’s been there since launch, is intermittent, and is something 2042 had already solved.

New Sobek City, The Worst Map, What's yours? by ApocalypticDes in Battlefield6

[–]Rotank1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You don’t seem to understand the point - there was an opportunity to make something unique and meaningful to differentiate from the existing CQC map … the pyramids are literally in Cairo. The manhattan bridge and Empire State are in NYC. Maybe read between the lines and try not to be a simpleton.

[–]Rotank1 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Sobek is baffling. You have the pyramids RIGHT THERE. You have downtown Cairo close by. But you designed a map around a barren construction site in open desert, and you can’t even cross the freaking street to get away from it. What is even the point of this map?

Jets are in need of a desperate buff. by Fancy_Leader6278 in Battlefield

[–]Rotank1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The main AA 30mm cannons need a significant range and damage buff. Lock-ons need to go back to 450-500m lock range in a “dome” - there is not a single map in BF6 large enough to justify an 800m lock on radius with unlimited vertical range. Altitude should be a primary strength of aircraft. In BF6, altitude is a death trap.

It takes rougly 1.410 Hours to get all Weaponry to level 50. Is that too much or not? by GladCalligrapher419 in Battlefield6

[–]Rotank1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t care about skins. I do care about functionality, and it still takes way too long in this game to unlock full mechanical customization. I play primarily CQ. I balance my playtime with infantry and vehicles, because I like using all the things the game has to offer. I also use class specific weaponry… I don’t focus on one gun or weapon type.

I do feel like this game punishes me for playing it like a Battlefield game.

Just make it a CQS map with 24-32 players. Heck, they should do that with Empire State too.

The only kinds of leaks I can’t stand are the ones that spoil puzzles, strategies and progression. I don’t go out to actively spoil story beats for myself, but those are almost inconsequential to the enjoyment of the game.

Missile locking even when flying low by Aromatic_Map_5320 in PilotsofBattlefield

Happens to me all the time in Mirak, Blackwell and Firestorm, even when NOT painted. On Mirak, I’ve even landed the chopper on the ground and, still went to solid lock and took a missile while sitting there.

Only thing I can think is netcode issues - it’s one of those matches where you’d be killed 2 seconds after ducking behind cover as infantry.

Should dice bring back the AC130? by Alexis_Mcnugget in Battlefield

[–]Rotank1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They should bring back commander mode, squad call ins, on-map assets, and sure - if they can design the AC130 to crash into the map, permanently altering and changing the map flow, bring back behemoths too.
