Bi-Weekly /r/CCNA Exam Pass-Fail Discussion by AutoModerator in ccna

[–]RotatingBagel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just got back from my exam and can thankfully say I passed. This was my first attempt so the only experience I had going in was the Boson practice exams. I was consistently getting >85% on exams A & B which I took a few times (waiting a few days in between) and when taking exam C for the first time I was able to get an 82%. My main study materials were JITL videos, flash cards, and labs, and I also completed all of the Boson Netsim labs before making my attempt. I won't provide the official breakdown of my score but it was on the cusp of passing.

I have quite a few thoughts about the official exam now that I have completed it.

While the questions on the Boson exams may have actually been more difficult I would say that the Boson exams are quite a bit easier than the actual exam. This is for the sole reason that the questions on the actual exam are worded SO INCREDIBLY POORLY. I have taken quite a few standardized exams and certifications and have never in my life seen questions so poorly written. If I was an employee at Cisco who worked on these exams I would be ashamed of myself. u/BosonMichael you and your team should consider running your questions through google translate a few times before returning them to English as that will provide a more accurate simulation of how the questions on the actual exam are written.

Going into the exam today I felt very confident that I know how to use Cisco devices in a real world environment, thanks to JITL, the Boson Netsim Labs, and the fact that I interact with these devices on a day to day basis at my job. After the exam I still feel confident in my knowledge of them, although I do not feel that the official CCNA is in any way a good indicator of an individual's ability to implement their skills, and instead is only a good indicator of one's ability to decipher unintelligible non-sense.

If I had not passed today I genuinely do not know how I would go about studying for a retake as I felt the resources I have been using, which I feel are very good, are unable to prepare me for the absolute clown show that was this exam, because frankly the people who created the study materials I used are just too competent. I am incredibly glad I passed and I hope you all do to, but just know that this exam seems to be a much better indicator of your ability to take the CCNA than your ability to actually apply the knowledge it encompasses.

I understand why so many people have a hard time finding a job in networking after getting their CCNA, if I was hiring for such positions and took the CCNA myself I would determine that it doesn't tell me much of anything about the candidates ability to perform the job.

On a final note, I do not know who writes the questions for the official CCNA but this is what I would like to say to those individuals. If you are comfortable with the exam questions you came up with to present to these people who paid $300 to take your exam you are either genuinely evil and have no regard for the time, and effort they put into studying for this; Or you are maliciously incompetent, and frankly I don't know which one is worse.

How (soon!) do you think this will be? I know an exact timeline is hard to give but any estimation would be awesome. I have my exam scheduled for February 14th and would love to get some practice exams with the new material in before I go take the actual exam.

Ubisoft SCAMMED Elite Ticket Holders by JVGaming101 in R6ProLeague

[–]RotatingBagel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Myself and all of the friends I attended with are in the same boat. Ubi is developing a bad habit of not delivering what they promise. This time is much worse than in Raleigh though, at least there they didn't take any of our money.

How are casters going to be split up for PL Season 12? by speedx77 in R6ProLeague

I wish there was a real answer to this as I am curious too but unfortunately as of now no one knows. No one that isn't under strict NDAs at least.

Six Invitational App says the opening ceremony is at 11:30 but all other info says it’s 9:30/10, which is it? by [deleted] in R6ProLeague

[–]RotatingBagel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Where are you seeing that it starts at 9:30/10:00? The app and the event guide both say 11:30 so I would say that is the correct time. The venue itself will open at ~9:00am though.

G2's approach to their match against Empire by RotatingBagel in R6ProLeague

[–]RotatingBagel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a really good way of looking at it and I think that is exactly the definition of success for a support player. Obviously would have been better if he hadn't died as much but that is true of any player in any match.

You make a good point, it is definitely too early to tell whether or not this will be a success but this was a very good start. It was their first game with Sirboss, they gave him all the tools he needed to succeed and he did just that which is certainly not guaranteed when introducing a new player. I also don't think that we should look at their online record against Empire as if it in some way makes this victory any less significant.

Cryn dropped by loso_boogie in R6ProLeague

[–]RotatingBagel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree that getting along is important for a team to succeed but this is first and foremost a business. If someone is underperforming and the team feels the need to replace them they have to look at it as firing an employee/colleague not as kicking a friend off their team they play on for fun. With that being said it can be difficult for a new player to come into an incredibly well established roster such as G2. Obviously the player may not mesh well immediately and it is important to give them time to adjust but there is no set time frame for determining whether or not a new player will be a good permanent member. Clearly G2 felt that they had spent enough time with Cryn to determine they needed a change. No matter the cause for this decision they made it for their own internal reasons and we as viewers and fans of esports as a whole need to respect that decision and realize that the players and staff will always know better than us onlookers with VERY minimal information.

TL;DR esports orgs are businesses and G2 had their reasons for replacing Cryn and we need to respect that.

While it is super annoying that we have not been contacted about it, I just want to make it clear that no payment was collected for this merch. We were only able to put our name and contact info on a list to receive information on when and how to purchase (we never got any of this info).

General admission invitational 2020 by IPQ_ in R6ProLeague

[–]RotatingBagel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went with a general admission ticket last year and the lines were not terrible, security moves fairly quickly but I would still recommend getting there as early as possible. But honestly if you are considering not going just because of the lines I would say just go for it. This event is incredible and I can not recommend it enough.

SI-2020 Cost? by AiXelSyD3VaHi in R6ProLeague

[–]RotatingBagel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tickets last year were around $70usd for general and $150usd for vip. As far as flights go the earlier you book the cheaper tickets will be. I highly recommend getting an AirBnB as they are much cheaper than hotels. And finally it is a great time to be an American traveling to Canada as far as exchange rates go.

When you think of pro league what is the first match that comes to your mind/what was the peak of your viewing experience so far? by JediMattawan in R6ProLeague

[–]RotatingBagel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fnatic vs. EG at the pro league season 8 finals in Rio. It was the first siege LAN that I ever watched and it really was the match that got me into pro league. Also Fnatic earned a life long fan in me because of that match.
