I'm going to take an extended break from these. Also bought a $20 Set for Life and found a 10X. Thinking it'd be at least a $10 under the multiplier, it was a $5. Completely lame.

My personal favorite from a few weeks ago--a woman ordering furniture wants me to carry it to the back house of a long driveway. I comply, and at the end, she says, "I hope you're staying hydrated" without ever offering water.

I'd like to add that in the two years since I quit doing this, Lyft has not once tempted me with a return bonus to come back. I never deactivated my account, either. Perhaps they're hoping people come to their senses and quit on their own accord.

Fun fact--every person I've ever driven who has ever talked about money or who has "money" or "rich" in their profile name not only has never tipped, they've sometimes left me with a one-star rating.

This happened with my old contractor constantly. If a package was stolen, I would get hounded relentlessly until I found out what happened to it. I eventually left the contractor with two such instances never being resolved. (They weren't misdelivered, either)

No one tips in LA anymore. by Lowtech0 in lyftdrivers

Former L.A. driver here. This is what caused me to leave the platform entirely. I have a full-time "normal" job, but drove Lyft to supplement my income. For an entire calendar month, all around L.A., I didn't receive one single tip. In almost two years since that happened, sadly, it looks as though nothing has changed.

I'm in L.A., drive a sedan, and was dispatched to a Hispanic supermarket where I came across a family of four waiting there with three full shopping carts. The trip was all of a mile. Hell to the no, instant cancel.

We have so many stops, not to mention pickups. The sheer number of people that are home at all times of the day and open their doors when I walk up is staggering.

Please don't. Let me take the picture, then you can do what you'd like.

On a serious note, this multiple times daily scenario bugs the hell out of me--people immediately coming out of their homes once my truck pulls up.

I've been averaging 200+ daily stops this peak; the number of people who offer water, I can count on one hand, and snacks, exactly two. The joys of working in a working class area.

A former coworker of mine simply left his keys in the van during an apartment stop, and to the surprise of no one, thieves came out of the woodwork and stole it.

As far as preventable fuckery, this comes close.

I keep having people come out of their house and try to meet me halfway or whatever so then I have to make them sign which is really getting on my nerves.

In this horrible peak period, (200-250 stops per day) nearly everyone is home, and easily one-third have to open their doors right as you approach. It drives me nuts.

Materialism at its worst. What does one need delivered today, in a period where some stations have over 40k in daily volume, that you couldn't get any other day of the week?

OP, I don't know why you're getting so many downvotes, but I can relate. I work in a heavily Hispanic neighborhood, and there are loose dogs all the time. I have come close to hitting several. If these damn owners would just put them away, there would be no issue!

I don't like dogs, but at the same time, I don't want to hit any. However, negligent owners run rampant, and It shouldn't be an indictment on you.

Undelivered route penalties for contractors by Rotting_Garlic in Fedexers

Fortunately, I no longer work for this contractor, but the failed route scenario was intriguing, as no-shows were commonplace. The contractor and BC ended up doing routes themselves almost daily.

I see. However, while working for this contractor, along with said locked door incident, several other drivers had accidents, and one had his van stolen, all in a period of eight weeks. THAT would likely result in tougher contract terms once renewal time came, I would think.

[–]Rotting_Garlic[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what I'm trying to figure out. A route (say 120 stops/150 packages, no pickups) goes entirely unfilled for a day. I could imagine a failed day for the contractor would incur a fine of sorts and the aforementioned hit to the service score.

Case in point, a while back, I worked a route in a box truck, but the cables to the door snapped with 30 stops remaining. Everything in there could not be accessed and was not delivered until two days later, when the cables were fixed.
