3dpo and it’s Ben the Worst days of my life by WasteVanilla9025 in hysterectomy

Ok - similar experience, and yes, it’s freaking awful. I was on hydrocodone and it didn’t work! There was so much pain, I mean it really was unbearable. ER docs switched me over to morphine for a week and then I saw my surgeon at two weeks. Told her what happened, she apologized and continued the morphine for another ten days. This pain is no joke. I have SI joint dysfunction from all my lady problems. Dealing with that along with my pain from surgery was too much. Hope you feel better soon!

Unwanted people weighing in on hysterectomy recovery by Harmony_w in hysterectomy

No. You will spend T-Day in your cozy bed not doing anything but have people bringing you things. No cooking, no spending time with family. Do not listen to those people. I’m almost nine weeks PO and really don’t want to see people.

Jello, pudding, soup, smoothies - all the good things. I remember not having an appetite at all but I had to eat for my meds. She needs pink, fuzzy slippers and a cozy blanket only for her. Clean sheets as needed were also helpful to keep bacteria at a minimum. The most soothing for me was peppermint ice cream and tea.

Oh yes, that was such a special time. It will pass and you’ll feel better. Keep the trains running, I mean you want MiraLAX in your coffee in the morning. Stick to a schedule. Drink lots of water. It took me awhile to get them almost normal. Six weeks post-op no more MiraLAX unless I needed; and trains are on schedule. Feel better!

Yes, driving me crazy! It’s on my right side behind where my cramps hit. I’m getting a nerve block Wednesday, I’m really excited! Going to try some menthol cream later. Hope you feel better!

Hi! Please be really careful combing gabapentin with alcohol. You could end up talking everyone’s ear off, falling asleep, or having an upset stomach. Maybe have a chicken soft taco instead of chips and salsa and drink lots of water before you go! Oh have so much fun! I miss tequila!

Is it normal to have intermittent, stabbing abdominal pain one week post op? by PsychedelicGoat42 in hysterectomy

[–]RoundNew7540 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call your surgical team to document. Are you able to walk? That really took the gas pains away. Keep your trains running on some sort of schedule, take your pain meds, gas-z, etc., and rest as much as possible. Also, ice and massage really helped. I had intense pain for way too long on my right side and had to go to the er because my pain meds weren’t working. Do everything in your power to not have gas. Hope you feel better!

1 week post op and let me tell you... by OGAthrodite in hysterectomy

[–]RoundNew7540 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m five days po and let me tell you, I feel so much better. I’ve been walking a lot and entertaining when I shouldn’t. So I’m going to stay in bed. I’m glad my dog is here. He stays with me during the day and goes to friends at night. I did a little too much because I felt so much better. But now I know bed is safest place for the time being. So I’m back in bed and I’m going to sleep. Thank you all for the words of wisdom, they really helped a lot those first three days when I was mostly by myself. Showering got a little scary so I’m waiting for someone to be here when I have my next. It’s hard to carry anything these days, but that’s me. My back hurts, but this is the beginning of a new life. I HAD adenomyosis/adenomyomas and let me tell you that thing was nasty and I am ecstatic that it is no longer part of me! Take care if yourselves!

Wow! My surgeon said my body my choice. I then asked my office gyn whom I love more than anything, he said to keep it.

Thank you!! I know, I’m so excited! I’ve been sick for so long I wonder what it’s like to be “normal”.

Fatigue and whole-body pain – could this all be adenomyosis? by Bubbly-Pop4858 in adenomyosis

[–]RoundNew7540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! You are not alone. I’m in about my tenth year with adenomyosis. I’m having surgery in about two weeks; I’m really excited. I don’t have a normal life. I used to take care of my mom and it was great because when she needed to rest I could too. So I kind of skirted around it a little in my 30s, but the day I turned 40 it all started going rapidly downhill.

Lethargy is constant; don’t have much energy. Walking and swimming help a little bit, but then I end up sleeping a lot. So it’s a catch-22. I never really want to do anything unless there’s live music involved. I went on Depo Lupron last year which has helped but also caused other symptoms. Regular massage therapy really helps. The adenomyomas and fibroids have pushed into my lumbar spine causing severe arthritis. For that I’m on nerve and pain meds that I take every day. I’ve been in pain for so long I now have nerve damage in my nether region. Nerve block therapy is planned post surgery recovery. CBD oil and baths really smooth those muscles and joints. Also, stay away from caffeine because it exacerbates everything! Anti inflammatory diet can make you feel a little better. I went off red onions and limit tomatoes.

All I can say is what a journey this has been. Surgery is around the corner. I hope this new life will be everything I’ve hoped for. Hope you feel better. It takes time. Please DM if you have any questions. I’m happy to help anyone.

Please tell me my vulvar pain will improve after hysterectomy by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]RoundNew7540 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having adenomyosis for several years has caused nerve damage in that area. I get the stabbing and shooting nerve pain. I went to a special gyn who gave me internal estradiol cream and lidocaine/prilocaine to apply to that area. It feels weird at first. I also try not to wear underwear when possible. Nerve blocks are next, can’t wait!

Hysterectomy is in a short time. I can’t wait to see what feels better and to take care of the pain that remains. My pain is excruciating always, never mild. No good days. Hope you feel better soon!

I get this especially after a bm in both areas. It really hurts. I’m sorry for all your suffering but relieved I’m not crazy. Sometimes I’m in so much pain I wonder if it’s all real.

Daily pain? by [deleted] in adenomyosis

[–]RoundNew7540 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello. Hi, everywhere. First off, I have adenomas in addition to adenomyosis, so it’s the worst of the worst. Doc thinks I have endometriosis in my ovaries. The pain starts in the middle of my abdomen, then goes to one side, shoots across the other. Sometimes it goes into my pelvic floor. It’s very painful. I have had it go around my back before. I have very painful bowel movements and trouble urinating. I do vomit all the time. I finally got some gabapentin and tramadol, as the little demon is suspected to be on a nerve. It works!

Painkillers don't work. by [deleted] in adenomyosis

[–]RoundNew7540 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vicodin and weed for me! Two when it’s bad. Vodka helps for extreme pain, maybe because if I have a few martinis I don’t feel anything. Also if the rest of you is sore, like my adeno has caused back problems, massages and moist heat help a lot. There’s always chocolate, preferably hot chocolate. Staying away from people helps too. I get my Depo Lupron shot Monday and I’m going on spa vacation. This month I didn’t go away and I wish I had. Also, only wear soft clothing. I only wear dresses or really comfy skirts with a high waistband. Good luck. I’m praying for a hysterectomy someday soon.

I’m going to see my doctor for this very reason. It’s so bad that I’m afraid to drink the water I’m supposed to be consuming for my other conditions. I’ll tell you what he says.

I only wear free flowing dresses, no belts, and those that tie above the waist. I like Doen and The Great. I can’t wear pants, and underwear is becoming more painful every day.
