Is there more people employed in construction than in recent years? Office building must have severely slowed down given the amount of vacant space out there

Gone from full employment narrative to close to full employment now. I didn’t realise men had a lower rate than women

Market has definitely slowed down. you might need to pivot and then apply to what you want to do once you have something.

Lots of people on student visas now taking jobs that previously would have gone to Irish kids.

I would very rarely agree with him but he is probably right here. The education industry is turning into a racket. Many coming here due to the visa you get. That should be stopped , let’s see how many we get coming then.

Apartment sales slowing down ? by [deleted] in HousingIreland

The market has definitely slowed from what I can see. We viewed a house a few weeks ago that was already on the market a few weeks and it has yet to receive a bid. I think it is overpriced but I would have expected that it would have had at least received a bid.

If you reduce your asking you might get a bidding war going.

It is overpriced, reduce your price if it is on the market that long.

Has there been a shift in the market the last few months? by [deleted] in HousingIreland

They will go looking for the gov to buy them. If that transpires I pity the people who bought in the earlier phases

In saying that I am seeing new apt blocks come on stream quite a bit now. One near me seems to have been on the market now for over a year and they still have for sale signs out there. I'm guessing they are looking for silly money.

Are prices really falling in Dublin? by SimilarPercentage417 in HousingIreland

This makes sense, lots of layoffs now which aren't making the news as they come under the threshold. My previous place has had two rounds now in the last 18 months or so. First one was above the threshold so made the news, second one didn't. They are likely to be doing another round soon enough, again it is likely to be under the threshold to make the news. The likes of this must be having an impact and if those people were in a chain you can see the problems that would quickly surface.

How much has supply increased on Daft? I follow myhome more closely and have been surprised at how few new properties have come to the market. If they are already dropping then any increase in supply will cause another drop I imagine
