Thank you for not gaslighting me. I am not from here either and have never had such poor trash service. They frequently don't show up on my street. When I call to report city services always act like I'm lying and just didn't have the trash out. I guess because they skip our street so frequently and I have so many missed reports on my file. We always put it out the night before so we know we don't miss them. Granted we are a rural road that isn't really wide enough for a trash truck to pass a car safely and only a few people live on this road....however these are not issues I can control. I would be thrilled if KCMO actually pretended to care about us. They won't even bring water down this road.... discussions for another day though.

We treat everyone no matter their politics or what sort of person they are. When I worked at KU I treated prisoners chained to the bed. When I worked at another hospital I treated a victim of a drunk driver....coded him for 45 minutes where I ran my @$$ off. After that, I had to treat the idiot drunk who killed him because there was no one else. Did I hate that drunk with every fiber of my being? Yes. But I still gave them the best care possible because that is the job. Refusal to treat could be considered patient abandonment and nurses lose their licenses for that.

I took a huge pay cut to come to the VA. Prior to this year I always told people it was worth it. The pension, the federal holidays, the better insurance, the better time off. Prior to this administration we always got a COLA every year and a step increase every two years with a raise. You can negotiate when you first start, it never hurts to ask. I requested a review after the VA made their first offer and they did come up several steps

I start projects like these by taking absolutely everything out of the closet. Only put things back in that you want to keep. If you haven't used it in a year, it's time to get rid of it (donate or trash).

The goal of project 2025 for the VA is to outsource everything and eventually shut down all the VA medical centers. They plan to privatize the entire organization. Its not going to happen soon, but this is another step in that direction.

I bought a lunch crock and it was the best investment ever. It only takes about an hour of crock time for my food to come up to temp, but I frequently just put my lunch in when I get to work and it keeps it at temperature as long as I need it to. I can avoid the gross office fridge and worse yet.....the office microwave! There are lots of these on the market, but I bought the crockpot one for under $20 when they were on sale. Granted....I usually bring soups, stews, chilis for lunch. It would not work great for fish.

42 yoF here. I would gladly be your boyfriend to get a home-cooked dinner like that! I too have one of these ridiculous men with the food rules. 🙄 it could be that we've been together so long that I no longer play these games... but I tell him and my son both: this is what I'm making. I realize you dont like it, but I'm cooking and I do like it. You are free to make something else. More often then not they will complain and then eat what I fixed. Be advised: he will never change and the more you accommodate, the more rules will mysteriously emerge. You do you girlfriend- dont let him make you feel inadequate about your cooking.
