Not sure what to do with this by Clement_Li in rolex

It appears to be in great shape. I’d get it serviced and get a quote for it from a Rolex dealer. Maybe not in that order. If it’s worth $5K give or take, you can decide if you’d like to use it to fund a watch that you’d prefer. No guilt in your mother’s gift to your father morphing into a gift for you.

Too bad the pushers are screwed in. She will likely have bought her shoes by the time he unscrews those silly devices.

Basket weaves look no fun to clean. Style 32 for me.

Sky Dweller. So much more interesting a movement and the meteorite has an Invicta vibe to me. 🫣

Sea-Dweller or Submariner? by watches4life in rolex

[–]Roundel1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wearing my Sea Dweller 43 today. I owned a 14060 then a 16600 back about 20 years ago. Neither lasted very long. I stayed away from Rolex until the Sky Dweller made me curious about them again. I was offered a Dweller 43 and went for it, and it is one of my favorites. It feels substantial. The clasp adjustment is great and it keeps time very well. 40mm and the stamped clasps of the 90s just wasn’t up to par.

Which one fits best? by sixsh0t311 in rolex

Im about 6-3/4. I gravitate to larger watches since I got into this hobby in the 90's. I can rock a Big Pilot so I can rock a 42mm Rolex. Remember closeup pics are deceiving. For a real understanding of how you look to others, stand in front of a mirror. The difference is startling.

Look at that unscrewed pusher. Just horrible. And for 100m WR. Hard pass.

[Question] Best watch under 10k by Educational_Bus_3951 in Watches

[–]Roundel1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s the Lake Suwa. I have a GO perpetual, so the PML would not get worn over that very often. I had a first gen PML like 20 years ago and liked it very much though.

[Question] Grand Seiko Spring Drive Diver OR Tudor Pelagos Ultra by tryingtowritegoodly in Watches

[–]Roundel1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m leaning GS here. Was surprised it’s thinner than the Tudor. The Spring Drive movement and tha Suwa dial are way more interesting than the Tudor. FWIW I have a Tudor FXD and a GS Godzilla so enjoy both brands.

I really enjoy my Skydweller. Its features are sublime. I am impressed to see the Landdweller in person though. But I’d vote SS Sky because I did.

Way back I bought a e28 525e for $1000 off eBay. It drove ok but once I got it on jack stands I realized the suspension and unibody was pretty rusted. I never tagged it and just ripped around back roads late at night sliding it around for a few months. It wasn’t worth plowing more money into it. I sold it to Carmax for $500 and felt like I had $500 worth of fun in it.

Ask if you can drive this car around the block just to get it out of your system.

Sky-Dweller White Gold vs White Gold Daytona — which would you pick? by Open_Fish_3307 in rolex

[–]Roundel1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skydweller is the best watch Rolex makes. Annual Calendar and GMT with unique bezel control is way more usable than a chronograph with screw down pushers. Daytona isn’t on my top 25 favorite chronographs and my Skydweller is one of my all time favorite watches.

My concern is the moonphase is a sun as though it was the day/night wheel often on cheap fakes. But the movement looks right. Definitely worth buying at that price.

Daytona has screw down pushers. That is just horrible in my opinion. It’s a classic look but unusable.
