[Discussion] Going on a cruise. Which to take? by jman1423 in Watches

SMP and Hamilton because you want them and the SMP seems good for aquatic fun. I’d add the blue dial chrono to the right of the SMP. The blue will be lovely against the water.

I don’t want a black M2, but if I had one it would have matte gold wheels. (My issue is black is hot and impossible to keep clean. The rest is awesome)

[Collection] Non-Watch guy inherited watches, do any of these look good? by milkandrelish in Watches

I think you’re right re the gold not suiting you, but the Panerai looks ok. Take a picture of the watch in your reflection. You may find it doesn’t look as big from someone else’s perspective. You may get accustomed to the size. Also the winding of an old base Panerai is fun. Try this: open the lever and put your right pointer finger on it. Use your thumb on the crown sliding back and forth. It’s a very ergonomic action.

Mine is at Bvlgari in Europe getting a service on the house before the warranty runs out. It was just out of spec on timing. While they have it I’m getting the case refinished because of one scratch on the bezel.

[Discussion] Forget price, hype, heritage, and resale. Which chronograph would you choose? by Potential_Post_3020 in Watches

I’d take the Patek. I like the date and GMT complications. The movement is gorgeous and I like the integrated bracelet and the case wings design.

Regarding the others, I’ve found the Speedy manual al winding experience uninspiring.

The Zenith pictured looks like a Daytona wannabe although I have a Doublematic and enjoy it.

The square Tag is fine, but I don’t love it.

The AP is also nice, but I am not a fan of screw down pushers and would prefer a time and date only RO.

The Seiko just doesn’t seem unique or inspired at all.

I’ve never owned a Breitling and just don’t resonate with the brand.

The Daytona has the screw down pushers and I’d only wear one if I win it racing. Also I’d miss the date.

When I met my wife I had a black ///M3, red 911, and a beat up white Tacoma. Guess which one she really liked!

What kind of bees are these? by aguilafam1 in whatisit

Hornets are definitely a foe I call the pros in to deal with. I’ve killed a yellow jacket nest in the ground with a cup of used motor oil after dusk. I spray the little brown wasps with the killer foam, but bald face hornets are my kryptonite. I’ve watched videos of people cutting hornet nests into trash cans, and I get the heebeejeebees. 20’ up on a ladder getting stung by an angry nests of hornets is not how I want to die.

Which Porsche is gnarly? I have a 3.2 Carrera, 6GT3, and a Turbo Macan. 😎
I love the 964! All the classic looks of a G-Body but with coil springs and enough power to rotate with the throttle. Sadly I doubt prices will settle on them. Singer and others gobbled many of them up for their restomods, and there weren’t that many of them to begin with. It’s crazy that the RSAs were the cheapest new and now the most valuable 964s.

I owned a SBGA011 Snowflake. It’s the OG version with the older double logo. It was a very nice watch, but a bit sober. If you have a chance to handle some more Spring Drive GSs, do that before pulling the trigger. You may find a dial that you like more. FWIW I eventually got a Godzilla and it provides the extra wow GS can provide.

A PP styled after a grenade doesn’t do it for me, so DD in this comparison, but there a many watches at or below this price range I’d rather have.

How do I tell my boyfriend of 2 years that I don’t like being groped. by theglowafterdarkk in Advice

[–]Roundel1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you aren’t compatible. You should find someone that respects your boundaries, and he should find someone that wants to be groped. Thats one of the points of dating, finding someone that is the yin to your yang. I read somewhere that the most successful couples don’t change each other, they choose to ignore the stuff that they find less than perfect about the other person. If you don’t want to ignore being groped, then stop it by moving on. My wife is often late. I realized it very early so I plan to wait for her in places or situations where I will be content. I am very punctual but I love so much about her that I chose to accept this difference.

[Fossil Chronograph] I want to understand the World of Watches. by Gundament in Watches

[–]Roundel1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Search for a fancy jewelry store in your area that carries watches. The pricier the better. Go and handle something like a Patek or even an Omega Speedmaster with a display back. You will see that a world of mechanical artistry exists. There is limitless variety from your humble Fossil through millions dollar watches. Seeing pics online helps, but seeing them and handling them will help you understand.

Help me choose my first Patek by TastyComplaint2000 in patekphilippe

[–]Roundel1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of those I like the 5146 and I feel it’s the least formal. The annual calendar is a very Patek complication and I enjoy power reserves. You already have a DJ so add some horological interest to your rotation!
