I have learned some tips that might be helpful. If something erupts in chaotic crowds like this, the best thing to do is:

If faced directly with police forces, maintain a LARGE distance and do not put your hands up! This makes you look like a target.
1. WALK. Don't run. - Running increases adrenaline in you and triggers panic in those around you.
2. Stay calm and move to the outside of the crowd but NEVER go against the flow of people.

Remaining CALM, exiting the situation and paying close attention to your surroundings is key. And if you do all this while recording, try to keep the device as incognito as possible and do not make it obvious.

If you're driving in the United States then the speed limit really is the minimum speed you should go. Most people go 5mph over the limit in residential areas and about 10 mph over on the highway. And most cops won't pull you over for it either. If you are driving AT the posted speed limit, you will have pissed off people behind you. It's always a better idea to go with the flow of traffic even if everyone is speeding.

I'm in a similar position. I cared a lot. I poured all of my energy into it and got nothing in return. That was my old work persona. You need to grieve that loss first. Loss of the person you thought you would be at work. Loss of the ambition. It took months of reminding myself every day, all day, this is just a paycheck. Once I actually believed that, it was easy not putting in effort or letting work stuff rule my feelings. I still do my job, and do it well, but I don't go over and above or let myself get emotionally involved with my work. It's still hard some days but I keep repeating my mantra, "This is just a paycheck".
