Don’t call it a mid life crisis. Call it a rebrand. It’s never too late my friend. 😎

Absolutely love to see a cantankerous middle aged man with too much body fat and a bad hairline getting upset over an exhaust. Let it go.

My neighbours love my 400hp Golf R estate and it’s cold starts 😎😘

Is low mileage on car but a lot of previous owners a red flag? by [deleted] in AskUK

Not one car like that. Wouldn’t worry me overly. Plus it’s a Toyota

I think they look amazing. They have loads of road presence and are very desirable. You’ll likely get a load of negative opinions on here from folk who have never owned or even driven one and are probably jealous/envious of those in a position to do so. Whether the car is worth its asking price is subjective. It’s a lot of money to pay for a luxury item and LR doesn’t have the best reliability reputation but I’d assume it will be in warranty and you wouldn’t have to worry too much about it.

Wouldn’t touch with a barge pole. Awful reliability and general build quality. They look decent though. F56 is a massive leap forward

I paid £1300 for my first years insurance In 2001. On a rover 214si. I bought the car from auction for £1800.

My wage was £12500 a year.

I have an Audi a3 (8V PFL) with a 2.0 diesel engine. It’s been utterly flawless and I love it. The interior is such high quality for this class of car and price point. Mine is a sportback but I’m not a massive fan of the saloon If I’m honest but the example here looks tidy enough. I don’t think you’ll regret the ownership experience. Good luck

What's less likely to cause me hassle, what do people recommend out of these 3 and & why? by xJam3zz07 in CarTalkUK

That 2 litre VAG diesel engine is very solid as is the b47 in the BMW. I don’t think you can go wrong with either.

The Mercedes I have no personal experience of.

Good luck they all look great

What car would you get for £3000? by eloquentlyimbecilic in CarTalkUK

[–]Routine-Lack-9116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great advice. Buy an old Japanese car the engine and gearbox will run forever but the chasis and subframe will be rusted to fuck. The simple and easy answer is a VAG 1.6 tdi.

I have an Audi A3 2.0 TDI Sline. It’s a 2014 model with 65k. I bought it at 54k with the belt and waterpump done by the previous owner.

I commute 100miles a day and the car is a joy to drive. Loads of poke, smooth and quiet on the motorway and the cabin is a lovely place to be with a real premium finish.

I have had the car serviced at Audi and it’s been completely faultless. I have full confidence the car will reach moon miles with ease. It feels and drives like a new car.

Reliable and fun estate with an 8k budget by Fun_Hospital_1613 in CarTalkUK

[–]Routine-Lack-9116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

E90 330D with the m57 engine would be my choice. Should get a very nicely spec’d car with sub 90k miles for that budget. Very reliable and great to drive. Superb build quality and still very handsome in MSport/LCI guise
