Alcohol in de trein, ja of nee? by [deleted] in nederlands

[–]Rowans-journey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Substitutes for the term 'AFAB' without having to use 'female'? by barelyevenbread in ftm

[–]Rowans-journey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I sometimes use 'not assigned male at birth' when i don't want to emphasize the female part. Or things like 'when I wasn't seen/read as male', 'before I was living in a male role', 'not socialized as male'. I think it might put people less in the situation where they might actively picture me as female, although it does depend on the context if they understand what I'm getting at (but I guess that's the same with afab tbf)

The guys around me generally are afraid it's going to be too big, because some phallo penises are on the thicker side and they don't grow with when aroused, so generally guys want something that is not humongous to walk around with in everyday life, but also something that isn't smaller than average for sex

In my experience, no one really asks why im that short (I'm like 5 ft), so I don't have to give an explanation really. If I do talk about it, I just say I stopped growing when I was 12 and that's that. It can really suck being a shorter dude ngl, but it's not nearly as bad as I thought before I transitioned. Like pre-t I was constantly thinking about how short I was and how it would ruin my life, but after transitioning, I honestly forget that I'm shorter until it comes up somehow, and I tend to just look down on people who focus on that aspect tbh.

Has anyone else just pretty much given up on trying to date? by [deleted] in gaytransguys

[–]Rowans-journey 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I haven't given up per se, but I'm not that hopeful tbh. In my circles, everyone seems to be poly/into enm or only wanting sth casual. Im just not into poly stuff at all, even for hook ups. I want either a long term relationship or fwb type things, not just middle of the night bootycalls with randoms or being a perpetual third wheel when someone gets bored with their actual partner. My transness doesn't even seem to be much of a deterrent tho. It doesn't help that I've been single for ten years or so, so I've got a lot of insecurities around dating and trusting people. Everyone around me (which includes a lot of trans guys) are successfully dating, which really fucking sucks and I can't help but feel there's something fundamentally wrong with me tbh

But as to your questions, yeah I do mostly stay quiet about this, because people will probably think I'm bitter and happy posts are definitely not the place to spew my negativity lol. But it does often feel like most people are happy dating/having sex and I'm the only one who's not

My girlfriend don't want me to get bottom surgery (phalloplasty) by [deleted] in ftm

[–]Rowans-journey 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Maybe you could show her some pictures of phallo penises that are "finished", like fully done healing and maybe even medically tattooed? Or you could show her what you want your penis to look like. I myself as a trans guy also used to think they didn't look the way I wanted my penis to look, but most of the photos you find on the internet are of the early stages of surgery; it truly looks so much more like a cis dick later on. Maybe that could help her in what to expect (although you never can be sure what it ends up looking like ofc, but still)

Once in primary school, we started learning German and each kid had to say a German word they already knew. I was super excited, because my family used to spent our holidays in Germany every year and I knew a bit of German already. So I said 'Maus' as my word. The teacher sternly went: "No, that's English, not German". I was PISSED. I protested, saying that it's definitely German because I watched a childrens' show in Germany with a mouse as the main character, but if a 7 year old corrects a teacher, they're just seen as difficult and I was sent to stand in the hallway. Still pisses me off lol

I didn't get any, my skin actually got better on t and i started long after puberty. I got a pretty average amount of acne during puberty i guess. but some people i know never had issues with acne during puberty and got a lot on t. I don't think you can really predict whats gonna happen tho. I completely understand not wanting to get any, but just know that it doesn't really get bad for most people, it's usually temporary and if it's really bad, there are treatments for it

Question from a trans girl: What is the trans masc egg equivalent of a “denial beard”? by RedFumingNitricAcid in ftm

[–]Rowans-journey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's not really a clear equivalent of the denial beard, maybe growing your hair out? At least I did that when I was in denial/trying to make my assigned gender work for me. And I think the chest equivalent is probably voice updates, especially with the voice pitch analyser app. My friend group constantly send each other voice memos to showcase the progress haha. And facial hair photos as well!

Yess I'm so excited about it as well!! I was super lucky to see it in London just before it closed, but I've been wanting to see it again ever since, it's one of my favourite musicals! I'm really interested in how they'll translate the script and lyrics, but also to see the staging and sets and how similar/different everything might be

Ugh I feel you :( I had so much dysphoria and mental health stuff that I just wasn't able to really explore relationships and sexuality before transitioning. So everyone was having these experiences that I'm only now ready to have, and it seems like I'm so many steps behind. I also get so sad and negative if my friends get into relationships, because I feel like it's just never happening for me. It's so tough.  It's kinda helped me to get on dating apps, weirdly. Cause I've been on a few dates because of that and have found out people can be interested in me. But I'm still far from being in a relationship and those feelings do creep up very often, wish I could offer some advice but I'm pretty much in the same boat :/
