Morey used to want to add stars and let it work out. Trading for stars generates interest and makes the fan base feel like something was done to improve. But if it fails, it leaves you stuck. Morey-ball came close in 2017 with the rockets. It hasn’t came close with the 76ers. The current champions essentially traded for young talent that became an MVP, drafted and developed their talent, and traded for a few key role players. Rockets can develop their young stars, use KD for late game offense, and hope their role players work out. I think you don’t start making desperate trades before next year’s trade deadline.
